Frikkin' lame. I bought GW:EN through the online store so I would get the BMP. I usually collect the game boxes, but decided not to do so this time. I won't trust ANET "online store" promotions from now on and will no longer purchase from the online store in the future. I'll just wait like everybody else, save a healthy buck AND get a cool box set.

Don't complain, those who already got it for free. The rest have to pay 10 bucks. And no, it's not bad marketing. If you got GWEN at the online store you paid $40, as well as free BMP. If you got GWEN at a retail store, you also got it at $40, but to get BMP, you pay another $10. Those who did the promotion did not ripped off.

/agreed, as stated in my previous post.
You completely threw outthe window all the confidence I had in you regarding any kind of promotions. And I want my GWEN box.

I saw this coming before they even released the BMP.
I'm glad that everyone else can enjoy it now.

Well, crap. Guess that's great for those who didn't get it during the promotion. I now wish I was one of those people.
I only ordered GWEN online because of the promo. I really wanted the physical box and contents to display next to all the CE boxes. My sister-in-law bought a physical copy for my birthday and I returned it because I eventually decided that getting the BMP was better than getting the physical box w/ no BMP.
I now see I was wrong.
Don't get me wrong, I like the BMP. A lot. But I would have easily paid $40 for a physical copy of GWEN plus another $10 for the BMP at a later date instead of $40 for a GWEN key plus what amounted to early access to the BMP.
Hindsight = 20/20.
Not that losing one player matters, but I'll really have to think about whether or not I'll be getting GW2. I'll still probably get it, but I may stay away from the online store or any more CEs.
Ah, that reminds me. I was going to order all 5 of the skill unlock packs before the end of the 1/2-price promo.
Here's something that'll make things right (w/ me anyhow). Sell me the physical GWEN box and all the original contents (minus an access key, of course) for $10. If that was available right now, I'd be placing an order for that plus all the unlock packs before you could utter the word 'exclusive'. (Yes, yes, I've seen your exclusive vs. promotion definitions, don't bother.)
Actually...anyone want to sell their pristine CIB copy of GWEN sans the game key? I'll be right back, I'm off to eBay...

If each of this packs is going to cost 10 bucks and offer this or that special, be prepared for a nasty future.
Other games cover their content upgrades with the monthly fee - see EVE, doing the most massive content upgrades of them all for free.
WoW has a fee and charges for new expansions almost full price, dropping later to less than half of a normal full price game.
1.) Guild Wars had full-price stand-alone chapters.
2.) GW:EN was salvaged content for almost full price.
3.) The BMP costs 10 bucks for 4 missions and a weapon skin collection plus video sequences.
4.) GW2 ...?
I see it coming! And they can say WE ASKED FOR IT. Funny...^^

I don't mind this approach, and I'd much rather see more MMO's do stuff like this. Rather than pay monthly, you pay for small expansion packs, similar the the DLC on Xbox Live, etc. At least that way you're only paying for new content that you actually want, and will play. As opposed to something like WoW, where you're paying for everything all of the time, even when you're not paying. As long as the developers know where to draw the line, I much prefer that system.
As for this ruining all promotions, I hardly see why. It's been said before, but I'll say it again. This isn't like one time mini-pets are bonus content you get for pre-ordering, these are new missions with decent rewards that are taking up space in the major outpost. I'll still buy collectors editions and what naught, to gain access to the exclusive content, but I can't honestly believe that anyone thought content like this was going to remain as a one time thing, which is exactly why I didn't bother paying for un-needed character slots at the time. If you want to miss out on future content because your "trust is shattered" or whatever, then that's your loss.
I for one am glad that they decided to put this up for sale, thanks a lot.

Give up ANET. No matter what you do people are going to complain.
|
The people that are "QQ"ing now have a solid reason to, though. They (we) participated in something that we trusted was going to be for a limited time span and we spent money both for the BMP and to support ANet (I, for one, own Prophecies, Prophecies SE, Prophecies CE, Factions CE, Nightfall CE and GW:EN...)
Others were going "LOLOL ROTFL U GUYZ SUX TEH BMP WIL BE TEH [email protected] LOL", until they saw they actually got cool looking weapons. Then they whine and cry and get what they want. It's not that they get to enjoy cool stuff that bothers me, the more people that can enjoy new things, after all, the merrier. It's just that I feel more or less "cheated" by a corporation I put my trust into is what bothers me.
Well, as I said, this certainly has been an eye-opener for me. Call me QQ'er if you will. I'll just wait like the others from now on. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

You complain about people whinning about a-net not selling the BMP and now you whine when they do sell it? Its not like a huge loss for those who got ripped off for GW:EN. You get GW:EN for an incresed price and this comes with it, now you can pay for it without GW:EN. Like everything its a little more expensive when its new, thats life.
Face it, a-net will never make anyone happy, this way makes them hella richer though, so theres your answer why. =D
Ill get this, probs .

No. Them not selling the BMP was a mistake.....offering the BMP as something you can just go buy is a very good correction to said mistake.
Maybe taking everything Gaile Grey as written in stone is a mistake, as great as Gaille is for putting up with all our crap, she is a liason for GW- not entirely in charge of all their decisions, and not even entirely informed of all their decisions.
And please, all the people who feel "cheated" now- you paid 40 bucks to get EOTN (or whatever) plus BMP for free...everybody else paid 40 bucks for EOTN and have to pay 10 bucks to get BMP. You can complain if u wish, but at least be honest with yourself- your anger is about jealousy and not money. (Maybe you can formulate some kind of conspiracy theory that supposes A-net did this just to make you angry, if it makes you feel better...but i doubt it will.)

ORLY?
You know it stares you right in your face on your character screen...?
Infact - i believe that instead of the crappy idea of selling it as a 'bonus' and 'promotion', then putting it on the online store, they should of just...put it on the online store instead of the way they have done it.
Less problematic, and it can let people still have casing for GW:EN.

They should have done this from the very beginning. They just had no idea people would be willing to pay money for the BMP. Now, with this decision, anything you do, you make someone angry. Like me for instance. (I want my GWEN BOX)
