Heh, amen to that. This really is one of the whiniest, most petulant user bases I've ever seen for a game. Thank goodness GW has heroes and henchmen so I don't have to play with any of them.

On the day it came out? Sure there have been sales around Christmas time lowering the price, but then you wouldn't have had the game for the past month.
In my case at least (Canada), the online price was the same as the store price on the day it came out.

Now people who absolutely refuse to use the online store for various very good reasons can actually buy the BMP. That's great. Too bad they didn't do that right off the bat, too. But at least it's being done now. Thumbs up on that.

It's a bit cheaper than the difference I paid getting GW:EN from the online store, but people who wait usually get stuff cheaper anyway. No big deal.

This was always going to happen, and in any case, ANet clearly ignored the whining last month, when Gaile questioned the belief it had been an exclusive offer, so how can this be argued to be a response to whining?

a.net, i love this game, but u're deeply mistaken if u count on having my money for any collectors edition and me taking part in any other promotion from now on .
not bitching, just posting the consequences this move has on me.
should i play gw2 i'll always go for the regular editions. don't count on milking a single additional non-mandatory cent from me
a very angry customer

Oh well? It's not like you can do anything about it now.. so in the end, why complain? Just shrug it off. And really if you don't like me then ignore me via the User CP, not like I'm here to please or piss people off, just saying.

I'm only bummed because I had to buy GW:EN in the online store. I could've gotten it for $30 at EB, and with it's box.

The economists speak of "opportunity costs" - costs incurred in the process of doing something due to actions not taken. The BMP was only "free" if you already intended to purchase GWEN online, or were going to purchase 3 character slots (or whatever else took you to a $30 total). Even ignoring the "I did not want to buy GWEN at all" situation, the opportunity cost for most who originally got the BMP is the loss of the physical GWEN box, and its contents. As I did not actually need any character slots, the cost of the BMP to me was whatever else I could have spent my $30 on. Yes, I was not actually buying the BMP, and in that sense the BMP was "free;" no, the way the BMP was offered did not truly make it "free."

I agree that this is a wonderful thing. Everyone who's been crying about missing out will finally get access, and ANet will be able to generate a bit more revenue without producing any content.
(I'm still debating whether I'm earnest or bitter as I say the above.)

Yes, let us all have all the things we've been asking for! Why not? It's not like ANet has promised to "hold the value" of past promotions... or wants to project an image of being consistent... or has ever gone back on that word with the festival hats...

Would be interesting if they gave the PMP (purchased mission pack) different weapon skins or something than the BMP (bonus mission pack). Not saying they would. Just saying it'd be interesting. We need more complaints here. ^^

I believe that it would be in ArenaNet's best interest to, in the future, if they plan to offer something like the BMP for a $30 price tag (all of those people who spent $20-$30 more than they should have for content from the in-game store will understand this better than those who did not) and then a $10 price tag later, they should make their plans known to those that might have some crazy need to save money while still getting a gaming fix.
If, as some might counter, they were not originally planning for this, then perhaps next time around, they should. The way they did it, both sides will complain. If they were to say "from Date A to Date B, we're giving this to people who spend $X in the online store, and they'll have Y months of access to it before we sell it for $Z separately later on", I think it would work out much more in their favor. There are plenty of people who will pay for first access (lolpreorders), so why not just make all future promotions that are doomed to go the way of the BMP work in such a way?
Either way, I don't care much about what happens to the BMP. I got my playtime, and I got my weapons. Beyond that, it's not really my issue, other than to be slightly disappointed at the way the marketing was handled (which, as a customer, even without a subscription, I have a slight right to be disappointed at).

Let this be a lesson to all of you to carefully read the wording next time. And ask in the future if it's the bonus product itself or just the promotion that will be exclusive.
