I'm at work now though, I only come on at night here (GMT+8). Factions has been kinda empty, and my (Edit: current) bf now isn't playing anymore cause he's been busy with school and stuff.

My fiancee and I have been together now for four years, and we've been playing guild wars together for about a year now. I've seen other gamer relationships work as well, both with online and offline. My opinion is that it's not the game that drives people apart, the game aggravates an underlying issue and makes the relationship assplode and burn faster than an arrow with an ignite arrow prep, conjure flame, and mark of rodgort all thrown into a 55 monk without his PS.

It all comes down to similar interests. My ex wife hated the fact that I was gamer, no matter how much time I devoted to her. My current one will sit there and game with me after we're done with our college classes. Win/win.

That's sweet. And yeah I agree with your first para. Gaming usually turns out as just something to blame. :\

You sir know what you're talking about; It's so true that games aggravate underlying issues and make existing things worse. I've experienced it a lot myself.. whereas when the game is not around, extra unwanted things don't arise. I'd also like to add that games have made more fun times for me in life than bad ones, and so much good has come out of them in the end, I had fun after all.

Also I think it's cool that your new wife likes gaming with you, some people just don't know how to have some fun

Totally agree. If your hubby/wife whatever is a nag, they're a nag. If you/they are the type to put trivial things above the relationship, it'll implode whether that thing is GW, a bar, a hobby or a shoe collection. The underlying problem remains. And the opposite is also true. If you (like me yay

) have a happy gamer dork marriage, it would be a happy (insert other thing here) marriage otherwise. When you enjoy each other, you like enjoying things with each other.

when i was 2 years younger i did exactly that, end a relationship cuz of gw. well not jsut gw but for all video games in general. how i lol at myself for that.

My husband and I just celebrated our 4th year anniversary, and we've been gaming in GW for more than 2 years. At the start, it was pretty easy 'cos both of us were really enthusiastic about the game. Then as time went by, he got bored of it and began playing other games, while I stayed because of my guild and the friends I'd made in it. For the first time, we felt a bit more like strangers, 'cos we weren't spending as much of our free time doing stuff together as before. I think he began to miss me and fussed about my late nights on GW. So I finally decided to cut back a bit. Since that time, we began spending more time together, be it watching television, chatting or compromising on the games - like I'd play his games for a bit then he'd play GW with me for a bit.

I wouldn't blame a game for turning a relationship bad. It's as someone said before, it's a matter of common interests, and if two people are willing to compromise, then there should be no problems.

As for relationships on GW, I've personally witnessed three occurring - and all of them did not work out. I wouldn't say it's impossible to have a successful relationship over the internet. I've known a few couples who met and got married, couples who stayed married for years now. So I'm pretty certain they would work GW or not. But like all relationships, there's the equal chance to fail - possibly a greater percentage over differences in character, intolerance to habits or other quirks than playing the game.

Well there comes a time in life when you do things that you'll look back on and you think you were crazy. That's natural, but then you'll have to ask yourself - what have you learnt from it?

When I left my ex, one of the reasons was that I didn't have enough space. Not for gaming, not for friends, not even for sleeping, sometimes. If you ask me to look back at it and ask myself whether I would leave him again for gaming, I would. I still don't think that gaming ruined my relationship or I ruined it because of gaming, I think it was ruined to begin with and gaming was a convenient excuse for both of us - so he could tell his friends I was a loser, and so I didn't have to tell him that I thought he was a loser.

I haven't heard of GW ending a Relationships as yet I know in some games this has indeed happened.

This is a Computer Game and if this has happened to you you really have your priorities wrong in life.
