Someone at ANET made a mistake and added time. They admitted the mistake and because it was seen as detrimental to some GW players we have this big fuss. If they had just taken those minutes away without explanation what type of outrage would we be reading now. Just let it go you still have 33098 minutes of favor left, I think that is more than enough.

They could have just made the adjustment and not announced it, y'all would have never known. They should just not tell people stuff like this anymore.... and the people with the over-blown "principles" should be spending their time on political forums debating the "principles" of issues that matter, like war, and starvation, and global warming, and the economy.... many people have far more to worry about in this world than losing a fractional amount of bonus points from a bonus weekend the makers of the game didn't have to even have to run in the first place.

None of this is Gaile's fault, and I'll probably never make use of favor.
It's just odd to me that they would go out of the way to delete the favor, and not go out of the way to fix the ceiling reset numbers. It's just... strange.

And risk being caught with their pants down when people notice instant 7k drop in favor?
Dont think so.
As for overblown principles, well, newsflash, there is nothing more wrong than ordinary people who stop caring about small injustices. Then it is just too easy to get more comfortable with bigger and bigger ones. AKA, Who are you to discuss big things if you dont care about small ones.
Also, from your usage of the word, you seem to have no idea what "principle" is. Look it up in dictionary.

I can tell about 90% of the people here don't go to eight UW or FOW...
This doesn't affect people that don't go to UW or FOW, and because it doesn't affect them, they should keep the negative comments about the OP or anyone else who is affected by the favor, to themselves.
For the .01% of us who clear UW or FoW five to ten times a day... I am a bit pissed at it. People earned that favor (and I don't care how they earned it... wurm or not). I find it appalling that a counter was reset and 36,000+ hours were lost... and not added back in, however, a programmer adds an accidental 7k in and it is going to be removed. That is just bad on anet's part, and I am not an anet basher by any means.
Awful. This may not seem an issue now, but that is because most of us have gotten used to not having to wait around for favor to be gained. It is nice when you can map to ToA and see people there at all hours of the day.

You know what? I see your point. (Well, except those of you who just have to make it in a nasty, personal, flame-y manner, of course. Seriously, I am your messenger! Please keep that in mind and stop the nonsense.)
On the topic at hand, I truly do understand what you're saying and will see if we want to take a look at this plan. Do keep in mind that it's not intended to have an "All Favor, all the time" situation. A ceiling or a cap doesn't seem an unreasonable element of the Favor system. But I understand what you are saying about the chain of events, and I will pass that along.

Thank you Gaile, I don't mind the lose of the 36k minute from the first error, I understand that it was unforseen, but the removal of the 7k seem like salts in the wound. Thank you again.

And why are they not allowed to make it in a nasty, personal, flame-y way? Weeks ago they started a thread asking what happened to the favor the community earned, the only reply we got was that something went wrong and would be looked into. That was the last we heard on the matter until today when we find out that the amount we currently have is 7000 minutes too high, so they are reducing it, but nothing will be done about the missing 37k? How exactly were you expecting this to make people feel? "Oh yay, they care so much about us they will fix mistakes that help us, but never the ones that hurt us, yay!" Sorry, but after being told the Mini Polar Bear was not going to be added to Wintersday, then seeing it found, then weeks of silence on the missing favor issue, and now being told our favor count is going even lower, well honestly, it feels a hell of a lot like there is no real contact with ANet anymore. We can't trust what is told to us, and when we have issues, they get ignored.

I agree with those who say "bad form." The game mechanics (that A-Net set up) allow for 3 minutes of favor to be added each time someone reaches a max title. Because of a programming issue, 12,334achievements (=37k minutes) will NOT be recognized & honored. A-net is well aware of this.
Leaving the 7K minutes on would have made up for less than 20% of the minutes lost. Leaving them in would have gone unnoticed (no one would have even known!) by the players and there wouldn't be any issue to discuss. So what if it was a programmer's error that added those 7k minutes? It was a programming error that lost the 37K minutes people had earned during the farming weekend in the first place.
I don't plan on taking advantage of favor any time soon, and have spent less than 1% of my playing time in FoW/UW, but the right thing would have been to lave them in and let things go.

time to get Legendary Vanquisher is much greater than getting both sunspear and lightbringer maxed, there will be no spikes this weekend. I believe alot of things lead up to the spike. The main is that many people were waiting for a double nf rep weekend before they wanted to max their title. Also seeing how it been around 9 month sence the last double lightbringer/sunspear alot of people took advantage of the weekend no matter what.
Also you could max both solely during a weekend event. No one can vanquish the 100+ zones in one weekend. i doubt there will be much spike this weekend.

At least A.net gave us plenty of prior warning about this. Rather then just doing it, having people go nuts, AND THEN an explination being posted by Galie. So, that is commendable.
Still doesn't make sense they'd take away 7k given by accident, but not give back 32k taken away by accident. *shrug*

I agree that it doesn't really matter considering we have so much Favor atm.
But in principle Anet are idiots for doing this.

Really I've never been to UW or FoW but I find myself a little mad over this. SOme people continue to point out that theres plenty of favor, yet its not about the favor. Its about how anet handled the situation and truth be told they handled it poorly.
