Yeah I agree with those saying it wouldnt be good for the game.

As it stands the highest levels would go to those who farm the most, people will start to use it as a way to pick between players when it doesnt represent skill, especially when farming is so easily done.

Also would just lead to a lot of bragging and e-peen stroking.

I'm still clueless as to why people PuG anything in PvE, making this whole argument a moot point.

They wouldn't change it now. I know it would be cool for people who already have alot of xp. But I'm afraid it would just cause more rank discrimination. Besides they would have to change the way level is gotten by exponentially increasing amount of xp for next level. Currently after virtual level 23 you only need 15000 more xp to get to next level.
So
{(current xp-182600)/15000}+23 = virtual level. I think that is right. Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong.

My ele has 9,960,853xp
9,960,853xp-182600=9778253
9778253/15000=651+23=Level 674

Seems a bit high really.
And I have a low xp compared to alot of the Vets out there.

Just figure out your virtual level and be happy .

My Olias is a higher "virtual level" than you, and he plays like it too.

Seriously though, what would be the point in adding such a feature? Total EXP is only a product of farming, and players are already rewarded for that with drops. However, I still believe the whole argument is a moot point because most players who PUG PvE are bad, and would have a low "virtual level" anyway.

They aren't good for anything.

Eh.... not sure how I feel about it. It isn't a bad idea, but I'm not convinced its a good idea. As mentioned, a person who solo farms hours on end will be a high level than someone who plays every quest/mission/dungeon. My Monk and my Ranger have roughly the same about of experience. My Ranger, however, has more play time, and more titles. My Monk I use for farming, and so it has a huge bonus on XP from that.

Although my Monk has completed all 4 games and done 90% of the quests/dungeons, I see potential for problems. Someone could have 10 million experience on a character they use for farming. That character may be the only one they have, or they may only have 1-2 others. They could easily know little about how the other classes work, how team builds work together, and how quests/missions/dungeons are done. I'd rather not see PUGs take people based on total XP, but they would.

your real level is ....20. doesnt matter how many skill points you have, how much xp you have gotten....you have the same attribute points etc as everyone else, maybe you are more skilled at PLAYING the game than a newer person, but thats it.
(and yes some good players DO pug, esp when your guild is not online ---)

I would just like a way to know what level some of my chars are. I lose count. If there was something in the attribute screen that told your "true" level, that would be nice.

Are you suggesting it isn't already like that with Norn and Lightbringer ranks?

Yeah, exactly, I fail to see how this would effect GW at all.

Plus, with everyone's Alts, it's stupid to assume a player is inexperienced just because their character is....

Don't see why some lvl100 farmer should get picked above me. PvE doesn't need rank, can't think of much worse than getting discriminated based on your lvl lol, but its bound to happen, hell I'd take the lvl 100 monk over the lvl 20 - stupid not to.

Pretty much everybody has said why this is a bad idea.

alternative suggestion
Allow us to see it on our hero bar, just for curiousities sake. Do not allow it to be displayed or sent to other players in anyway. That way, people can know what "real" level they are, but don't have to tell others. And if somebody else asks, they can just lie.

Actually no they don't. Americans may spell like this but the last I checked a good proportion of the English speaking world did actually follow British English, which uses "S".

For interests sake, I'd love to know my equivalent level however I see no reason to be able to report it to others.

The idea of something like /level would be nice. As I said - no need to actually advertise it.

Your right, Giant, PvE doesn't need rank - so why are there titles, especially ones that up the damage on your PvE skills? Why should someone who's spent a couple hundred hours doing nothing do more damage than me?

Based on that reasoning, I don't see it any worse. As long as there are no inherent bonuses for being a higher level it'd be fine with me. The game's already overflowing with chances to strengthen and lengthen your e-peen.

Do the math:

Take the max number of skill points you've earned and subtract 21.

Actually it isnt from my experience. Im still yet to see a single PUG not accept a player simple based on their GWEN title rank! The last I checked, people as low as Drawf rank 1 were still being accepted into Glints challenge PUGs and it didnt have any impact at all on whether it won or lost.

People really do over react to titles and assume others will judge them on their ranks and they simply dont in pve. If they do, then you tell them to get stuffed and grow up. Yes it may add some dmg or protection points to a pve only skill, but no part of the pve game requires pve only skills to be completed.

I accept there may be some players would turn around and use this function to say "ooo your only lvl50, hahahaha".... but would you honestly want to PUG or even talk to a person like that?

I would just ignore them, leave the pug and find someone else to play with!

This is what guilds are for!

What a lot of people ingame and in society dont realise, is that people only behave with childish attitudes because we allow them to and we allow them inpact and influence us. If you enter a PUG and someone judges you for your title, and you then run out and spend hours farming points to increase it then your bassically letting them win!

Just tell people who try to force builds on you, or force you to increase ranks to get stuffed and grow up! If everyone did that, they would soon realise to stop and just enjoy the game instead of trying to control people.

I think that was Bryant's point: It would have the same effect on PUGs as Titles do... a very minor one.

Besides, most people who want higher levels in GW want some advantage to go along with it, so this wouldn't satisfy them either.
