This has bugged me for some time now, and I just have to ask:

Why is it that some people need more than one account for Guild Wars?

I have one account and five characters made in that account, and I don't see a reason to have more than one.

Back in the day, the only way to get more character slots was through nothing other than another Guild Wars account.

for a time there were more professions than slots available on an account, it was necessary for us to get a second account before buying character slots was available

Well some people aren't like you and I, and they need to work across multiple characters to have fun.

I've spent like 99% of my time on my ranger, which pretty much means ive never done any real farming.

A lot of people who farmed or liked collecting lotsa stuff had to buy more accounts to hold the stuff, before they introduced the ability to get more character slots, and before storage got bigger

I knew this guy with 10 accounts and 47 characters... he was the leader of iMud and had an account as leader of each guild in the alliance...

I and a bunch of people from Ex Diku Mud Addicts Tau got tired of the carebear soccer mom nature of the alliance and left to form We Make It Rain On Dem [HoeZ].

Packrats are the ones most likely to have multi accts (I have 3).
Before our "improved" (and still limited) storage facilities were added, it was even more horrific trying to store stuff. My Slayers Collection alone took up an entire Toons worth of space....

I also use a 2nd acct to Duo UW when i need to bump the amount of ecto I have. 2nd's are useful

I don't have multiple accounts, but it would be useful to permit you to actually play more than 1 character at a time. It would be hard, but it could be done. Also, from a simply "dollars and cents" point of view - if you bought Prophecies at one of the Black Friday sales for $10, that's 4 character slots for the price of 1...

Having more than 1 account is also the only way to have characters in 2 different guilds...

I have a secondary mule account I purchased during the winter holidays in 2006 because it was on sale for $10. So, it's either buy 4 character slots for $40 or $10 - take your pick.

I have 2 accounts. I purchased the other one to open the gate for me in pre-searing.

there are times that this game becomes boring and you need to have someone to talk to. so if you have 2 accounts, you can log both of them and let your two toons talk to each other.

kidding aside, i have 2 accounts because i thought my daughter is going to like this game. she liked it in beginning, but not anymore. she likes talking to her friends through that yahoo thing...and they just talk and talk...and i see it a waste of time.

also if you get banned you can still play if you have another one

also if you have 2 pc's you can run yourself

I found my second account useful. When I started using my new gaming laptop, I had to load files every time I entered an area. So I used my other account on my other computer to whisper someone on the team to let them know what's going on so they know I didn't disconnect. That's not the reason why I got the account, but it's one of the uses I had with it.

Another reason was to keep the guild hall I kinda invested in.

my family has 2 accounts...one for me, one for my husband.
many people got extra accounts before there was the possibility of extra slots....I have no problems with that.

back in prophesies days there were 6 primaries and only 4 slots per account so the typical setup was 3+mule on one account and 3+pvp on the other.
