Come and join me if you wish
How many of you played the game once then followed with the remainder of your characters as fast as you could…. skipping almost everything. Well I am sure a lot of you have. Well I have done this before and I figured what the heck I am going to do it again. But I ask anyone who is bored with the game to come join me. This is what I am doing I am deleting a character and starting a new one in prophesies. I am putting special restrictions on my new character to make things fresh.
1. If I can not carry it I will not have it - No going to storage at all… until you are done with all campaigns.
2. I will not buy from other players – Weapons and off hands must be found or you can purchase from crafters if you have the material in your pack.
3. Armor from collectors - For upgrades on armor I am going to try for collector sets…. but since I am not using storage if I have the material in my bags which I found along the way it is ok to buy.
4. (This is an optional restriction) Skills- well here is the fun part since I am choosing a Mesmer its Mesmer only skills. This restriction will go into effect when you get to post (so in pre you can use whatever skill you get) I am going to do quests for most of my skills. You can buy skills if you wish for your primary class only and no tomes can be used.
5. Runes - Find them do not buy (ok to sell them)
6. Gold - See how much you can get but do not go to storage. If for some crazy way you have made a 100k then buy ectos, rubies, or onyx to offset your wealth and enable you to gain more gold.
7. No Running- You can not buy a run or mission run ever. You are playing the game for fun not… paying the game.
8. No Campaign Jumping- When you start one you finish it then move to a new one. (No jumping to factions buying max armor and jumping back to prophesies, or going to nightfall getting heroes and jumping back)
9. Hero’s can be used in Nightfall and GWEN only.
10. No mission skipping do them in order and enjoy it. You do not have to stress about getting masters/bonus it is for fun.
11. At least three times during the campaign do something nice for someone else. Help on a quest, randomly give something to someone, take the time to explain to someone new hints and tricks etc…
12. Explore anywhere you wish
13. And most of all Have Fun
I hope to see you in pre

I actually did something very similar to this with Proph. The best part is only using weapons you find. It's had a whole new dynamic to it.

I prefer to just look around at the scenery as I pass through areas now - I can't believe how many piggies I missed the first few times

That sounds like a fun way to make GW feel new. Good luck with it. I hope you get a lot of people to join you.

Yeah i've always had that kind of idea behind my head, would really add to the adventure feeling. However, never got round to do it.
Not going to do it either; no more character slots, and no time really.
Good luck though

I don't have the storage for that kind of crafting material collection. :O
Good luck, though!

except for the characters that i made for the sole purpose of farming i think ive tried that with all the others but failed. I always said i wouldnt go to storage or get weapons from storage but i quickly said "F" it. Maybe ill do this if i ever buy another slot for a monk, otherwise a pvp slot is more important to me

I did that when I first got the game. Played all the way through Ring of Fire with a bow bought in Drok's. Played with bows I picked up in drops before that. Played using collector's armor from the Crystal Desert on through. I have to admit, I think I enjoyed the game a lot more then. Ah, the days before I knew of Wiki and Guru.

a friend of mine did something similar to this, but a bit more hardcore - he capped the skills he wanted. skill reward quests are what got him by and if he wanted say mending for example he would have to cap it off a boss

Each time I create a character I start out like this, only to remember that I have played these chapters too many times and just grab what I need from storage

Another Fun thing is "Realistic Scenario".
Rules are similar to your thing:
* 8+ players play together ("group"), Each player creates 1 Character
* Rules:
- Death is permanent. If your character dies you gotta delete it (you can strip equipment from him if you wish so.)
- You cannot pug outside your group, you can use henchmen and heroes, but if any of them dies he goes to blacklist and no-one in your group can add him/her to party again. If important hero dies (i.e dunkoro before gate of pain mission, if you manage to get vekk killed, you cant do asuran part of gwen and thus cant finish it), you loose.
- You walk, you don't use map travel. You cant replay missions. If you fail mission, you are dead. You cant do other storyline breaking stuff either (i.e. doing quests which would be irrevelenat). If you fail quest, it is failed and you have to abandon it and noone in your group can attempt that quest again.
- Goal is simple: finish campaign, roleplaying survivor style.
- You can't use your stash, but you are free to trade with other people. if you wish so. Just pretend they are merchants
How is it played:
Players simply progress in campaign by playing together. If someone dies, he is dead. As number of participants diminishes, things get harder (obviously). You might eventually end up with with less than 8 players.
Eventually, you either run out of players or finish campaign, whichever come first. Wipes are, obviously, highly undesirable.
Roleplaying is encouraged, especially if it makes sense.

Wow. That might be a little much for me. I mean, this is still a game and I'd like to enjoy it.
Have you ever done that? If you can beat any of the campaigns that way, that's pretty much awesome.

This would be fun if you had group of eight friends working side by side that way you could be like a club… IMO I would add at least one rez chance per carrier (Spikes Suck) Or maybe meet once a week and If you are killed you have to go home till next week. Cool idea

I like that concept alot, would really make the game a serious challenge and you would have to think about what you are doing the entire time, hrm sounds like you should start in tyria and get to gwen to get godmo.... err ursan asap =] same continent and all

I did it my way:
1. Nah.
2. I always do this. Trading i to slow for me right now.
3. I only do this until I get to a max crafter.
4. I ALWAYS make all quests. That, of course, includes all quest skills.
5. Nah. Why to? I sell all the ones I find, I buy all the ones I need.
6. XD. All down to storage.
7. This one is easy.
8. Did with the first... never again, XD.
9. NO!.
10. This one is obvious. Those that skip missions are going to hell.
11. Another obvious one. Don't everyone do that?
12. Of course.
13. That's why I play GW.
