Well personally I'd agree with him. People with that kind of money sit at home and do heroin, crack, meth, etc... Or possibly if they are adrenaline junkies they might go skydiving or bungee jumping or some such thing. Sure they might play video games too but more money = better entertainment.

Never called in sick before to play a game. Probably never will either. Which is funny, because I get along very well with my boss(he plays mmo's too)at work and get away with anything. In fact he's actually called out sick or taken a personal days just to play new expansions.

Right and because you think it it must be. Look all kinds of people do all kinds of things right. I agree with you. But to be so arrogant and think a person who makes 100 dollars per hour doesn't play a mmo, even GW is a real big stretch. I don't make quite 100 bucks an hour but I make a bit over half that. And I play. Alot. If a person wants to play hooky once a year who cares. Once again the self righteousness of the young amazes me. Happens every generation, even to mine and me. Give yourself a few more years to be completely on your own. Away from your parents having to be responsible for youselves a bit. Your attitude will be alot more enlightened.

When you work at a large firm/bank/corporate business from 6/7 am to 7/8 pm, you don't want to spend your weekends playing Guild Wars.

I would know this, having worked those hours in that setting. Just because I'm in college doesn't mean I haven't worked, and just because I'm young doesn't mean you're correct or your opinion weighs heavier.

I might book the day off work ahead of time when GW2 is released (and put in a fake reason), but I don't see a reason to call in sick for GW, there's nothing going on that cant wait. I'll save me sick pay for when I really am sick.

I keep looking here for you opinion in there somewhere. Can't find it though. All I see is statement. That can be interpreted as a statement of fact. No disclaimers of opinion.

While I will agree that I may be wrong from time to time, I an not wrong about this. Because I'm not stating my opinion. I am making a common sense judgement that any reasonable person could make. I also will stipulate that there are proportionally way fewer people who make more than 100 dollars than less playing this game. But that can reasonably be ascertained from the fact that there are fewer people overall that make more than 100 dollars than those that make less. But I contend that there are in fact professionals that make 6 figures, also are playing GW's and other games out there.

Nothing personal. But no need for the blanket statements, which to any reasonable person is false. And all the "sky is falling" attitude of a once a year hooky day.

Of course all of this can be true too. But one could reason that more money = very fine computer system with latest and greatest hardware to play GW and other games too.

Calling in sick for GW is retarded. If you're going to put your income on the line for a game, you need help. I only call in sick for work or miss class because I was too...hung over to go.

I've not taken a day off sick in my working life so far (5 years) for legitimate reasons or otherwise.

When I first started playing GW I got into a habit for a couple of weeks of driving home on my lunch break to get in some playing time... but that didn't go on for long.

I can only assume sick days elsewhere work differently to how they do here. In this part of the world they're paid leave days that don't accrue if you don't use them. Not calling in sick for a bit of R&R and losing the paid leave is the "retarded" option.

Me as well. I used to work at a call center... when I had a really sore throat and flu I had to stay home from work but nothing was stopping me from curing up with my blanket in bed, laptop in my arms and a popcycle!

ETA:

I've never stayed at home because of GW though.

I'm not going to get into semantics, but I'll say this.

Neglecting responsibilities be them your job or your schoolwork in favor of playing a video game is fairly poorly played.

I didn't even call in sick after being up all night waiting for the Wii. I can always find time between work and school to play. Even when I was dating I was fine playing when I got the chance. I'm not going to get anxious to that extent.

I’ve never called in sick to play GW.

However, on then Factions was due to be released I did purposely arrange a meeting in London to make sure I could purchase it that day.

I was pretty sick last week, actually, and ended up missing 4 days of work...and got the last 10% of Tyria for legendary cartographer. But I really needed to be at work finishing up a paper for publishing. Deadline is coming up. So even though I was stoked about the progress I was making, I would rather have been wrapping up the paper before the deadline (which I will still make with plenty of time).

I pretty much decide my own schedule (for the most part) so if I don't have much to do and feel like I can afford the time I *might* not go to work one day and stay home and play...but that pulls dirty looks from my wife :P. In other words, I have never called in sick to play, but have had a few days where I just didn't go in so I could play.
