Heroes' Ascent isn't the only PvP mode there is.
Fame isn't the only way to meet and build a relationship with good PvP players.
Resolving that just because some players discriminate against those who can't do a glowing furry emotes that there is no way to break into a successful PvP social niche dooms a person from the start.

The same pretty much goes with GvG. You need champion to get a GvG guild, usually along with fame...
I don't want to spend 5 hours a day looking for a group.
And it actually is pretty easy to get a PvE PuG for something even if you're not experienced with the map. You just need to know how to keep a low profile.

If you want to employ the "I am a random stranger who wishes to share in your success" approach, sure, I can see them expecting something from you to show them you're not a waste of effort.

You do NOT need to get a champ title to join a GvG guild... you find a lower ranked guild, get a try out and don't suck.

Right. You find a lower ranked guild... and you lose, lose, lose, lose, lose again.
I don't use the random stranger approach. I'm talking about someone saying "Newbie LF someone to teach me HA, I can play ranger and warrior" getting ignored, flamed, and humiliated for asking to get a group. And if he goes with an unranked group... then it'll take him ages to get anywhere. Not like unranked groups form, anyway...

Don't know how it started out but I'd say it's probably 40/60 pvp/pve. There are tons of pve people that never pvp at all. There are also a lot of pvp people that never pve at all, but probably not as many. IMHO

It's not surprising that nobody really wants to teach you HA if you have very little experience... but the people who pay attention, watch obs mode, find out what builds are being run, practise in RA even, are the people who eventually get somewhere. It's a shame that you kinda have to grind it out at the start, I know, but it eventually pays off when you get a bunch of friends and a guild.

And guess what? If you want to HA/GvG, you need to have fame/rank in order to get some HA/GvG friends and a HA/GvG guild.

I heard there are some advanced techniques when it comes to making friends on the internet that doesn't involve flashing titles.
Haven't quite figured it out myself yet, though. Might post a guide on the wiki when I do.

Well you can't expect to join up with a top guild without experience and some references. It's all about working your way up; improving your skills, networking, and learning aspects of the game necessary to compete at a higher level.

Sounds like playing the game to me. If pvp is something you enjoy and you want to improve, whether or not it's a grind is irrelevant.

You should honestly stop posting, because it seems more and more that you have even less of a clue as to what you post about.
Fame/rank are usually not how most people get into pvp, they are only used for Pug purposes in Ha/Gvg or selling your account online...
The most simple and easy approach is to communicate with people. You know, this whole thing of actual interaction, not just walking up to someone and spamming a random deer, because 9 times out of 10, you're gonna get tigered, but meh, not the point. The point to this is that if you're going to be a self sniveling twit (not you although you seem like the type that expects to be top dog by just standing there licking your balls) you're not going to get anywhere but into a bad guild with less than average players and yes your whole expierence is going to be a shitty one. You're going to have to put yourself out there where the decent players are in order to have any real shot at playing with anyone decent. Your decent players are not going to spend the majority of their time in ra/ft aspenwood/hero battles (besides ekelon but we all know that hes just either insanely good or has a mental deficiency that he can stand doing that for so long without getting the onsets of wanker's cramp..) Find where the decent players are, ie. recruitment. Post an application, even if you don't have teh ub3r l33t expierence (god i feel like a tard for posting that), post what you do know, what you do play. You're going to have to start at the bottom, so what big deal. Starting here will tell you as a player what kind of situation and learning curve you have for yourself. Just because you can 55/600 monk CoF, doesn't mean that you're ready to take on being a prot monk for top 100 gvg, I'm sorry but your faming skills mean jack crap. Learn various builds and positions as well. Want to be a better monk, go play a warrior or a mesmer. Want to be a better ele, go play a ranger or mesmer. Want to be a better mesmer, become Korean...
Any way... The point, after all this useless rambling, but I happened to find it funny so screw off, is that you're not going to just jump into a top team and expect to be able to play on their expierence level, it's just not going to happen. Put in your time, learn from the good players, ignore the assholes but if they are good observe their strategies (Just because you run into an asshole, doesn't mean that there isn't something you cant learn from them.), and work towards proving yourself if you want a shot. 99% of any decent guild isn't going to go into RA or Lion's Arch or Kamadahn and spam for recruitment there. They do it through networking and player expierence, so gain your expierence, learn to network with people, and you have a 90000000000000% better chance of playing with a decent/good team than you will a shitty pug.
and before anyone jumps my ass about "OMG I don't want to have to prove anything, my 15k armors and l33t minipets should be good enough" or the "you take things too seriously" well tough shit. If you're aiming to play at a top level or anything remotely better than playing pong in a coma, then you're going to have to put in more of an effort than just logging on and saying "HI" or bitching in a random thread online that you're basically the fat kid that got picked last for dodgeball...

none and all of the above.
It all depends on what you want to do.
Me, cant stand pvp and have never done it....so for me its an all pve game.
XYZ cant stand pve so makes his game all pvp----its just fine for him.
ABC likes to do both---so has both pve and pvp characters and feels that the game is good for both (or bad for both---half empty or half full?)
SO just like statistics you can swing this game anyway you wish.
so the question is HOW would you explain it to the person, are they a pve'er or a pvp'er....do they like both, just use the 'facts' that fit for the person you are trying to sell it to. (just like real salesmen ).

In terms of the actual mechanics, I'd say GW is the most 'built-for-PvP' MMO I'm aware of. The level cap, item stats, skill design, etc. all appears to be geared towards PvP balancing. Thus, although PvE unarguably has the lion's share of the content, the base design of the game appears to be built around fundamentally PvP elements.
And yeah, not going to touch the PvE v. PvP flametrain.
