Perma-Bans
I logged on to Guild Wars yesterday, and I get a PM from my friend but not on his account. He says, "I have a problem." ANet Perma-banned him for selling in-game items for real money. This never occured. He never sold anything for any money. He is an honest guy who I know well. I sent a complaint e-mail to the report e-mail of GW. I think it is stupid that maybe someone accidently reported him, instead of a bot or something and he got a false ban. ANet needs conclusive evidence to gives bans. I think that my friend, Tarlin Sharpsword (for all ANet reading), deserves his account back.

Once a report was issued on your friend's illegal activity, Anet probably investigated and saw that indeed he was conducting some kind of illegal activity. Your friend should have read the EULA more carefully. He's the only one that can complain to Anet and defend his case. I don't know what you've got to do with it (apart from sympathising).

The only way for your friend to get his account back is to contact support. You shouldn't have sent an email for him, especially not a "complaint" email, since it may have made the situation worse. If you're rude to support, they're less likely to help you. Just tell your friend to be polite. Accidents happen. People can get accidentally banned for something they didn't do. If they contact support, and are polite, then if they are innocent, they'll get their account back in a couple of days. Personally, I'd rather have a couple of innocent people banned and get their account back than have no action taken against the bots.

Things like that will probably get you flamed a lot I guess.
Ive seen quite a few posts in this forum saying that users were perma-banned (on some accounts even multiple times ) by mistake and have recieved their account back from Anet.
@OP
Just tell your friend to contact support himself. If hes innocent (could have been an autoban because of trading between his main and his secondary account), then he will get his account reinstated after the Ticket has been processed.

Yes I know, I just re-read the OP and, again, find the 3rd sentense strange:
ANet Perma-banned him for selling in-game items for real money.
This is not written in any ban notice as far as I know. So where did he got it? If it's just a misunderstanding, then I apologise to the OP and hope that, if his friend is not lying, he gets back his account.

My guild leader is perma-banned also. The reason given by Anet is that she is buying gold. However, she never did that. She was transfering money from her brother's account to hers(Anet doesn't trust her tho). May be your friend has transfered some items/money from one to another?
btw, my guild leader never get her account back, which is pretty sad. NC support team told in an e-mail that, they don't have a very good method to distinguish between gold buyer & transfer between accounts. I think they shouldn't ban innocent ppl because of their incompetent.
gl removing the ban.

Very good point...
It doesn't say "You have been banned for selling items for cash".
So the only way he would think that is if he was actually doing it...correct?
But yeah....goodluck anyway.

That's interesting. Now, how would ANet know that he's selling things for real money? That's a lot harder to prove than that someone's bought gold.
The only things I can think of is that he's using the same email for contact as for his account, and/or that he's been spamming his wares in the ALL chat.

Muahaha - poor, retarded ppl working in AN:
My guild leader was holding a contest, in which the guild member with the highest number of faction gathered within a week in AB received 100k. After giving the reward the winner and the leader were banned. It was 3 days ago, they still cannot use their accounts, waiting for the support's reply.
Gaile and all of you working there in AN: stop eating your doughnuts and TURN ON your brain cells. This madness must end or... you will totally loose your customers with this approach. You have NO RIGHT to ban people without THE PROOF! WTF!!

This has worried me for a while now.
I often give away what I consider to be unless Gold items to me to other people (Such as guild Members and friends) for free because they have a use for it, be a new character or a hero. Whats to stop somebody who doesn't like me reporting me for something and ANet deciding that because I've been giving away weapons to people I'm selling them or money on some website?
I also collect Torment Gems with somebody esle to speed up the rate at which we can get Armbraces and sell them as the price drops, allowing us to both earn more cash. That person gives me all their Torment Gems as they drop and I hold onto them, get the Armbrace and will then sell it giving them half the money made. Again, would ANet check this or would they just see me getting Torment Gems for free off of somebody else and Bann us both?
I've also lent people (close friends who I trust ONLY) money in game to buy items that they've seen for sale cheap that they really want but don't have the moneyto buy just then so they can pay me back as and when they are able too.
Does it say in the EULA that I'm not allowed to be helpful and friendly to other guild members and my friends? Or should I stop being nice just out of fear of being called a bot?

See my post above, the reply I got from Anet simply means "Guilty until Proven Innocent"

This is why people got into the habit of trading an item of small value with a large gold transfer. 100k transfers with no item in the trade makes things look very suss. I have heard of many incidences such as this, though am unsure of how it was resolved. All I can suggest is staying in contact with A.Net and hassle the shit out of them until your account is returned. In future I suggest you follow the above mentioned guide when transferring or 'giving' large amounts of gold to someone.

I read this as:
I was selling Gold, and got Perma-banned. Now I want my account back, because I have some stuff on there I want to have again, and I don't want to do it on another account. How can I get it back?

You guys don't actually think this guy's innocent, do you?
I've moderated another game-forum, and my experience is that 99.9% of the people complaining about being unfairly banned are guilty as hell and know it, but would never, ever, admit it. If presented with ironclad evidence they'd still just deny it - or claim to have been hacked.
I may be a cynical old bastard, but I bet this guy got banned for something along the lines of spamming "W.T.S. PROHPESIES ACOUNT w 2 LVL 20 $30" in the ALL chat of Kamadan.

Yeah, we shall trade the gold with our guildes in total conspiracy - or don't trade at all, just go outside Kamadan, drop/and pick up. No wait, it could be considered as some sort of botting. OMG, what to do, what to do, to avoid banning of my account. Seriously, its becomming terribly boring trying to watch out on everything you do in game because some [-----] in AN could consider it as "illegal".

No, I would not call you cynical bastard. A person who judges others without knowing the facts is not a cynical bastard - is simply retarded.
My guild leader was banned because of GIVING to other guildie 100k as a reward for contest. I think they should give him back the money he paid for that funny game.

If your friend is innocent then I wish him luck, but a ticket to Anet is the only route.
