Anyway:
1) turn based strategies, Old point-n-click adventures, Classic rpgs (fallut/baldurs gate/adom/dungeon master breed) in no particular order.
I wont pretend i don't like other types of games, but they are rarely fun for me (for example shaddow warrior being exception for 3d shooter, but it was because i fell in love with its map editor, heh)
2) diablo ii tiped me off gw, but it had little influence on final decision.

I really like the Command & Conquer series, when i saw the trailer of Kane's Wrath, It kinda went fighting with the no.1 best series in my head. It's either Guild Wars or Command & Conquer, or just both
I also play a LOT of other games, like Half-Life, Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty 4. When i buy a game and it's fun, it's good enough for me.
All of those games have no influence on the choice of profession I make, I want to experience all professions, but the Ranger is so far my favorite

1) what kind of games do you play in addition to gw? (fps, strategy, rpg etc)
none
2) does your gaming preference influence what gw classes you pick? (for example, i love tactical shooters like R6 Vegas, and also love the ranger class in gw. i'm not into warcraft iii, and don't play mm necros in gw)
I played Diablo 2 ages ago and my favourite chars there were the Druid and the Sorceress. I dont know if it was coincidence but my first two chars in GW were a ranger and an ele

1) I played a lot of strategy games and story driven rpg's.
2) I play monk. All the time. I guess that comes from my history of gaming but something always drives me to being the core of the party and when things go wrong, monks are the ones who can get out of a sticky situation.

1) I've been playing action and RPG games almost all my life... GW's a good mix. Also like puzzle games.
2) Necro. Well I like to play anything with a high damage output in other games as well. I like seeing bars go down fast and big numbers on my screen (I'm that guy who, in RPGs, uses strong magic on weak enemies just to see big numbers >_>;;; ). I play every class, but necro's my fav.

I come from an FPS background, mainly Operation Flashpoint, BF2, this is my first RPG.
I play all classes dont have a favourite, i guess i like the differences in them, this i think is what gives the game its longevity.

I started with adventure games (Myst, et al), moved on to FPS, then to CRPGs. That's how I eventually ended up in GW.
I rarely play anything else since I started playing GW. I did just take a break to replay KotOR again, though.
I might take time to replay other games but since I got a wide-screen monitor I'm kind of limited in my selection (unless I want to use my other PC), since most older games don't support WS format.
System Shock 2 is my favorite game of all time, btw.

I guess that's the type of gamer I am.

People respect gamers? LOL
Gamers are just above drunks and tramps on the social calender.

So true.
It's why none of my friends know I play GW
If I play video games with other people, we get drunk and normally end up giggling at stuff like Resident Evil 4

It's oddly much more socially acceptable.
Granted, if you're playing something like Halo or a multiplayer game of some sort, it's easily more acceptable, and some people will watch another play FF7, but computer gaming and mmos are especially stigmatized.
Which is why, as I stated, I play 'Ruit'

I think the coolness comes from accessibility.
When people can come over and all play together.
I think that's why the Wii is so popular. Because it's a party machine!
Sitting alone in front of a monitor might be fun, but it's not so cool to the rest of the world.

The only two other games I readily play are Star Wars Battlefront II and Crysis (both are FPS's). I might get CoD4 soon too.
