Repair smiths in WoW probably make the most money than anyone else in any other game, like seriously.

Merchants are dumb traders, that's why we have 'real' money makers like Rare material traders.

He's right. They BUY loot off you, so it'd be how much money they pay out per day. I'd wonder more where they got that money from. Do they salvage all the drops for crafting materials and sell to the materials trader or something?

If they're able to keep a constant and full stock of ectos, black dyes and sup. vigor runes, I think they'd be able to afford handing out quite a lot of k each day.

Enough to buy a set of Obsidian and then some. Not that Obsidian armor is all that expensive anymore.

Then where would the material trader get the money from? Not from the people buying from the trader, because the people buying from the trader get their money from stuff sold to the merchant. (Or if doing other things, that money comes from merched stuff anyways). So the real question is: Where did the original amount of circulated cash come from!? Maybe from the Xunlai, that'd make sense seeing as they get tons of gold per day.

The Life of a Merchant
*ponders to himself* If I buy one more high req Gladius, I may be able to finally finish constructing that toilet handle, so I can flush the damn thing. I wish some idiot would sell me a Voltaic Spear, so I could catch that bloody wierd looking shark that ate my dog, down in Lion's Arch. Maybe even a crap shield I could use as an umbrella to stop the mountain eagles using me as doo-doo target practice...

Would be nice to see those statistics, like how much material/dye traders make per day from buying low and selling high, which merchant gets the most business in the game world, how much gold players generate per day (and how much they spend), etc.
Oh, and of course, how much money goes down the Boardwalk drain in a weekend event.

Most of the crap that gets merched, wouldn't even be wanted by the merchants. They'd just salvage it and sell to the Materials guys. So it's THOSE guys who would make the most.

Actually...
My guess would be that the merchants turn it around and sell it to NPCs looking to build an army. So what's merch fodder for you could be going to the White Mantle, the Shining Blade, and so on depending on who you sell it to. When building an army, getting a large number of weapons reasonably cheaply becomes a higher priority than getting the perfect weapon. It's not like you're going to be able to equip an army at 5k a pop from the weapon crafters, after all...
"Precious" weapons would be going into collections, museums, and used for ceremonial purposes. The "Show Me The Money" insignia is a little weirder, but it may produce some sort of glamour for the weapon that makes it appear to be Precious.

Never thought how rich they would be with all the things that 'accidently' get merched like ectos, shards, lockpicks etc.. when you click to fast...
But they must be pretty rich xD
