World PvP in Guild Wars 2 will probably satisfy those who like killing other players 'out in the open'. It's been labelled casual PvP, i.e. 'come here to pwn n00bs PvP', which is basically what PKers want.

nothing is more fun then getting gangbanged by 4-5 pkers that are 60 levels higher then you, while you were doing your business, killing your 500th wolf for a quest

Anyway, it's a known fact that there's no planned PK in GW or GW2. The world PvP is like a never-ending Alliance battle with random entry - and that should be pretty popular. The discussion was about players opinions and experiences with PK in general and how it would be perceived in the GW universe.

That sounds like WoW, Arutima. For this and a lot of other posts, remember that level doesn't matter in Build Wars.

Most PKers in other games tend to be cowards picking on weak, inexperienced, new or low level players, knowing that there's very little, if anything, the victims can do about it. With that grind/time advantage missing in GW, the repercussions of actions like that would be a very real threat. Similar to everyday life, they wouldn't start fights for no reason simply because they could easily get their faced mashed in, or shot at school the next day if you live in America.

Right there is NO PLACE in the Guild Wars universe for PKing and the offical statements have said so. No Pking....go PVP. PKing in the past has always been about griefing and using ones level advantage to pick on some low levels who can't defend themselves. And don't try to cover this up by saying well I did such n such I wasn't a lowbie PKer, because just about everyone lies online an in forums to "get their way" or try to make what they want seem so innocent and sheepish and they would never do anything that would "piss people off" when they are sitting there lying in their pants just drooling for the opportunity to piss people off. lol

I played a game with unrestrained pvp. The problem is, you get a core group of hackers/cheaters/botters/whatever that become such a high level, with the best stuff, that work in concert to just pop out of invisibility or whatever and gank you before you have even a chance at reacting, when you're just out hunting or whatever. Why? Maybe you were in 'their' spot. Maybe they don't like your guild. Maybe they were bored. Either way, you're dead (which meant more in that game as you lost a goodly amount of xp points for dying)

Besides, GW pve isn't really set up for pvp. I can't imagine gw2 will go completely that way either.

Why should we refuse people who do want it the right to have it? The simplicity and effectiveness of separate servers is unarguable. Yet people would rather just have one server with one rule - No PvE PK? Well why can't we have some servers that allow it, some that allow it within "specific" areas of the world, and some that don't allow it at all?

I sure don't want to force PVP or PKing on people who don't want it at all nor do I think GW2 MUST include it or have any remote chance of including it.

But I think people are too quick to hate any idea of Player combat in PVE at all. As I said before, I've played such games and I've never been the aggressor (since I really dont have the heart to gank some innocent) but it was fun being in such an environment and hunt down PKs.

Not everyone who likes the PVP/PVE environment is a 12 year old who wants to stroke his e-peen by ganking people.

QFT. But I do think Pking, if only allowed in certain areas, like maybe deep in dungeons, would have an interesting aspect. I would, of course, be the valliant Pkk ^^. Oh, and for anyone who was actually bothered to read the GW2 FAQ, here's a snippet:

Because ANET said you CAN'T that's why!

There's PKing in GW now, but, it is ORGANIZED PKing. What you want is DISorganized PKing and that is the kind the majority of the people don't like. So, it will never be UNorganized PKing. You'll have many avenues of ORGANIZED PKing though.

I hope GW2 doesn't have PKing in PvE.
I remember in EQ2 when PvP servers started.
Oh look, a guild played 24/7 farming xp and a week later are 30 levels above everyone and own the server. XD
At least I picked the right side to play on. The server pop slowly disappeared until the server merged.

Now as far as a PK SERVER I have no problem with that. Because then people will know upfront it's a pk server and then all the lil dweebs and griefers and those that like to piss other people off can all conglomerate on that server. That's even a GREAT IDEA to make at least ONE PKing SERVER. They can't affect those that don't want any form of PKing then and live in their own lil childish world.
