That's not a lot of people's definition of fun and exciting.

Hey, that's fine with me. But a lot of other people find it fun. And *gasp* not all of them enjoy it just because they're ganking helpless people.
I remember back in the days of UO, if a PKer was spotted, sometimes hunting parties would be formed to hunt the PKers down. It was great fun and I never PK'ed someone who didnt PK someone else first and yet I still had fun and excitement.

Anet should just make an instance in a outpost where you can PK. Before you enter through the gate there will be 5 popup windows warning you that you might die and loss all items(or whatever the item losing ratio is set at) once you get out there for a certain distance you are immune to all damage, hex, condition...etc. but once you cross the line(it will be shown on the mini map) you can get damaged. To prevent people from camping infront of the line, for within a certain distance all attacks and their effects will be reduced by 55%-65%( the effect will not apply if you went in really far, got ganked and run back). And once you crossed that line it will be full on PK.
And there will be monsters and bosses which you can kill, with the higher gold/green drop rate and more high end chests etc. There could then be all sorts of surprises to get people play in the area etc.
How's that? I know it's not perfect, but think that's OK for a start?

This would be a bad move imo.
If you want that crap go play WoW.
GW was something different to play something better imo.
If they did that I would have to pack up my things and move to the next game for sure.

I actually miss RvR in DAoC, until EA bought Mythic and screwed that game entirely thus giving me almost no hope for warhammer to be worth a crap...

I read the FAQ on the official GW2 wiki and it addressed this directly. There will be no PK in PvE, period. There will be lots and lots of PvP of course, but not in PvE areas.

Good idea. GW itself is pretty boring... seriously.. something needs to spice things up. Sure someone might piss you off, but think about it, you can do the same. Plus, i think it would = more time in front of the computer.

U know every time i've seen the idea of Pk'ing implemented in a game, its been in a game that provides players who grind excessively with a huge advantage over those who don't.
Guild wars isn't a game where there is such asymmetry between hardcore and casual gamers other than in terms of skill(s), so.. can you really say for sure that it won't be fun at all?

Well judging from the responses here, people absolutely would hate it. It just seems people just hate the idea of another person killing them even if it's just in a game. Even if you lose nothing from dying, I'll bet people will still take it personally and take offense from getting murdered in a make believe world. It's not something I understand at all.

I don't hate the idea of players killing players it's just that knowing what would become the norm, if it became a reality.
Deliberate player massacres by party members for an easy gain.
Constant and I do mean constant mission failures because in any given party there would be a sub group ready to pounce.
New players would be taken advantage of again and again they would then either gang up and do the same to others, stop playing in disgust or stop playing with real players.
GW would become for the majority and offline style game played online
As I said in an earlier post there has to be a downside for the player killers, some kind of risk.

Just think about the current game, if the world was open and pk was allowed, do you think many people would ever finish nightfall? Or do you think pker's/griefers would camp the spot were you cross the desolation. Out hiding in the sands as your party approaches, out pops x amount of wurms, destroying your party in mere seconds, followed by the trash talk, now does that sound like fun?

If you want to PK, go to the arenas, or HA, or Hero Battle, or get your guild in GvG.
Oh, and there's that thing called Alliance Battles...
