Rangers are a waste of a character slot in PvE. And I say that as one who has a PvE ranger with 28 maxed titles.

I wouldn't say that as ranger are very versatile as trappers and interrupters.Good luck and have fun playing your new Necro.

Depends on your play style preference. Personally, I like the ranger the best for PVE, since it can trap, interrupt, spike and pressure via conditions. And BHA is almost a requirement for HM caster bosses, especially monks.

I hate the frenetic play style of the monk, as it's especially annoying to H/H and call targets while healing. Hero reaction times are also lightning quick.

Necro is probably the most fun of all the caster classes. Ele's rely too much on AoE, and scattering after 3 seconds makes a 25e investment look stupid when it's doing no damage after 3 seconds. At least SS still affects the target when they attack, even if the group isn't balled anymore. Necro is also one of the most diverse caster classes as you can Curses, bloodspike, MM, heal (as a rt sec) and buff party damage via Orders.

Dervish only sucks if you have no idea at all how to play it. After that, it gets nearly overpowered.
