This is not 'the community', this is the vocal minority which tends to complain very loudly when their demands are not met or when they feel wronged.
You might also notice that a lot of people post here that say they dont actually play anymore but if Anet did X or Y they'd come back.

lol, sure not...
GW2 will become more in this direction of a traditional MMORPG (but hopefully not ending up in a typical dumb asia grinder in kind of character development. playing 1-2 months to reach lvl 100 is enough... anything over that goes too far and playing lesser than 24 hours to reach max level is also ridiculous)
My post showed up only a huge chunk of possible things, that could be improved to give the game a better MMORPG-Flair, so that the gameworld will look far more filled with life and thats the goal, that the devs of Anet want to reach. Giving the gameworld a better feeling of Life in it.
Thats also the reason, why we receive finally with GW2 more playable races, because more races give the game juts simple more rpg-depth and a better flair of cultural life in the game.
You just say this, because you sure are one of those lazy gamers, which wants to have everything as quick as possible, someone who has not the time for longer lasting interesting character developments - a person who wants to create a character, that transforms from a Nobody into a Super Hero after creation within 1 second -.- if possible.
Someone, who dislikes all kinds of possible long term motivations for a game and general plays also not anyhow RP and is mainly focused on playing PVP...
Am I right ? if so, then GW2 will become absolutely nothing for you i fear

I've never understood why they still hang around here if they don't play any more, sounds kind of sad to me.
Keep Guild Wars as Guild Wars and don't make it WoW. If I wanted WoW I'd play WoW. Simple As.
And whats with all the title hate? Just because you don't work on titles you want them removed? Ok I don't play Normal Mode so they should remove that.

That was no Assumption, that was Sarcasm , because his posting had such a typical taste, as if being posted by an ignorant PvP Only player, which wants to get sticked everythign for free into his Ass without any effort.
But that is it, from what PvE lives - PvE lives from Long Term Motivation.... people want to have something for their money, that they have spent...
There I don't want to see, that I can max my characters in lesser than 24 hours >.> and that a Gameplay Mode, that calls itself PvE offers nearly absolutely no RPG-Flair and is filled with life only in the games main towns...
And its good to see and to hear, that the Devs of ANet want to changes this for GW2, because the simple, but hard truth is:
GW gets far more financed through the PvE Players, than through PvP Players.
The PvE-Community Side is much bigger in GW, than the PvP Side.
About those 5 Million Players that GW has so far, are surely like 70%+ PvE'ers, the other 30% are PvP'ers ...
Otherwise they would have been made surely not the Add On EotN, which is a 100% pure PvE-Upgrade. Nightfall was a 100% PvE Campaign, it brought absolutely nothing for PvP, other then 2 additional Professions maybe ...
The truth is simple, that PvE is over time far more interesting, than PvP, which stood over the years now nearly the same, without offering the players the 2 most funny/interesting Versions of PvP. And why? Because it provides simple far more long term motivation, than PvP.
The only Motivation a PvP'er has in GW is unlocking all skills/upgrades and Equipments (Runes) and then the PvP'er has left only the few PvP-titles of Gladiator, Champion, Commander and Hero + the 2 faction titles of Luxon/Kurzick... all they require much time and are good long term motivation in 1 way yes, but all those titles are nothign else, than boring pvp farm grind
Luxon/Kurzick gets extremwe quick boring, because the game offers only 2 Maps - Fort Aspenwoord and the Jade Quarry, how boring is that -.-
Gladitor = TA Farming with lame Farm Builds
Champion = Takes ages to get all the High End GvG's
Commander = Farming with lame builds and same tactics over and over...
Hero = First ranks relatively quick reached, but requires soon after R6+ age due to ever doubling the required poitns for next rank...
Only No Lifes play for like 2+ Years high End PvP, just to have maybe the chance to reach anyday R15
This is the only title, that gives a PvP extreme long long term motivation, due to the emote award, would this emote not exists, I think PvP would be beneath GvG half dead ...
A Real 1 vs. 1 and an All vs. All-PvP a la "LMS", the 2 most traditional PvP Types provides GW simple not yet. But GW is about this "competive" ever, which lets PvP look more, as if the game could be renamed to "Guild Sports" better.
Because I personally see until today still nothing, that has anything to do with a real "War" in PvP...
I see yet in PvP no real big epic battles, which would let the game deserve to be called "Guild WARS", where like 100 fight vs. 100 and both sides have things like siege weapons and have the different goals to fulfill, like conquering the enemies fortress (guild hall) a la Ragnarok Onlines "War of Emperium", where you have really to defend your guild against many attackers, which want to defeat you to claim your fortress as their new guild outpost ect. pp.
Battle Fields, that have the size of like 6-10+ soccer fields, that are real battle maps for a good PvP, those maps that GW offers yet are maybe only the size of 1-3 fields >.>
However, speculating about changes for GW2 makes sleepy over time XD. I want to see finally more infos about GW2 from Anet, they should release finally the official game Site of GW2, where we wil see then finally some first pictures or a Trailer Vid and where we will read more about GW2#s features and changes over GW1 ^^

- Pve only skills... come on... ursan? /no.
- A skill balancing system that forces you to use "this build" or be "noob".
Implement - - In-game E-mail system... the friend system atm is extremely limited. Ever wanted to contact a friend while they're offline. I would like a Guild Wars E-mail (or to be more realistic to GW, literal mail?) system whereby I can talk to my friends without being online.
- A race system where race does not = profession.
Definately don't implement -
- Persistence... yeah I already know this is going to happen, but this the entire reason I played GW from the word go... peace, quite, and privacy...
- Race = Profession... no thanks. I want a Sylvari assassin thank you! Making race = profession creates a very limited game... and just more "ur a noob because you're a [insert profession] and a [insert race]".
- Race only professions... as above.
*EDIT* Oh yeah, don't use GRIND! It is NOT fun!
|
Um if they don't use grind, say hello to a game that lasts 2-3 months maybe. GW only lasted as long as it did because of grind. Because the way GW is set up, just logging on and doing things like missions and killing enemies for no reason is not that fun.
Hell why not ask Anet just to give you a single player version of this game.

Its true that grind in GW is not that fun. Its also true that due to the way GW is set up they need some from of grind, so the game lasts long enough to keep playing. The disconnect between these two things seems to me a large reason they scrapped Utopia and sought a new path with GW2.
They need a deeper system if PvE is going to play a role for any length of time. That doesnt necessarily mean WoW, but it certainly is a different path than what they were on.

Then don't play Guild Wars...You're going against the formula of what some people fell in love with with the game. Some things may change with GW2, but GW is what it is.

Hero Battles? More skills? More professions? More maps for PvP?
100% PvE campaign? Ya...right.

So you are telling me, that competition has no long term motivation? :O
I'm shocked. Lets go tell EVERY SPORTS ASSOCIATION ON THE PLANET that they have no long term motivation.

Yup. Whats your point? Semantic argument?
The battle modes of Guild Wars are designed for FAIR PLAY (although its not perfectly balanced). RO's War of Emperium is so ridiculous...don't get me started on how much you need in equips and cards.
