Torm hammer and swamp club are the mains i use ^^ torm is by far the biggest and shiniest of my collection, but i seem to favor the odd plagueborn mual :P.
Hammer by far the best out of the three warrior weapons, its the constant main for my war and it never fails me in pve/pvp, yes its slow but if you get a chain off, gg.

Hammer warriors will 99% of the time be less effective than sword/axe in PvE.
HOWEVER
Hammer warriors come into there own in PvP, the ability to chain KD someone is amazing.

Your huge Guild Wars hammers are about as realistic as those retarded Final Fantasy swords.

Smaller the head the harder the impact or indent it would cause, having a bigger head with more surface displaces force, so yeah.

I take down people with 3-4 skills hits with my hammer build lol. A upgrade would be nice still. But mostly some hammers have small head pieces that make them look pretty small, like the victo maybe. I'm sure the vera looks pretty big.

Maybe for you. For me, though, Hammer has been most effective so far, even without any fancy special effects like knockdown. Multiple failures each in Surmia (though, I'll admit that was mainly Leeroy's fault ), Nolani and Borlis Pass when using a sword (Barbed Ascalon Razor - 10-14 and the best I could get at the time), with the Serrated Shield on the side, and the standard Sever Artery/Gash combo. Switched to a hammer (Sundering Rhino's Charge, of course, since I own GotY) and got through Surmia, Nolani and Borlis on the first try. Have to do a second attempt at the Frost Gate since I accidentally pulled too much...
Admittedly, much of that goodness is coming from using a max hammer long before any maxed weapons would naturally come my way, so maybe I'll change my mind once I get a maxed sword and axe...

I can't stop laughing at all the "hammers r bad" posts... I think that most Hammer elites would argue with them. In PvE they work fine, but in PvE it doesn't flipping matter what weapon you're using as long as you have an appropriate build.
You wanna run a DS spam warrior? Fine, go right ahead, high dps and constant pressure. Or you can run an Eviscerate > Execute axe build that'll work good too. Want to run a build so you can chain Backbreaker or Earthshaker? FINE! Constant knock downs are great! It's PvE it doesn't matter!
Back on topic my Warrior is female and she uses a Destroyer Maul and it sure looks big enough to me on both genders, it's also probably my favorite hammer skin.

Btw, I don't think hammers should be too big.. a little realism good. Final fantasy style weapons (wtf @ the swords) fails imo.

hammers see slightly less use in PvE because useable swords and axes seem to drop more frequently than halfway decent hammers do. Therefore every wakko crazy gotta kill it now warrior grabs the first decent weapon they find and usually acquire skills to go with it. Thus by the time they find a decent hammer, it is expensive to change. So they don't.

ROFL. they have knockdown. thats plenty.

oh man, cuz u know having alot of experience points in pve means alot.

The main benefit of hammers IS kd, thats just how they are. Obviously there are more uses, but KD is the main thing, all weapons have a purpose, hammers are no different.
And to the ES/Crude swing flames. Awesome job, I wasn't knocking hammer in PvE, just saying I wouldn't like it unless you have a fun/creative build, which your build is obviously not creative, but if you enjoy hitting the same 3 keys to kd a mob, then have fun!

Back on topic.... I kinda agree with the OP, when you look at some of the common hammer skins(The Iron Hammer, the Igneous Maul, The Bronze and Copper Crushers, The war hammers, the foehammers the BMP mauls ect) and then compare it to something like the gavel of the nephilim or Zodiac or the new greater glyphic maul... they seem kinda puny by comparison... And it just doesn't look like the warrior holds the gavel right...

Disagree. My fave is my mursaat (actually got as a drop for my hammer girl, was great ) Vera is also large and great (tetsubo skin) If you want big try a ruby maul (Goren + ruby maul = great lol) Twin war hammer also nice. Ice breaker is large, as are desolation mauls. If you like wicked and pointy, try a collosal pick.
For the record, my hammer war is female and kicks bootie.
