ANet and the Rules
As I don't want to go Off Topic in this thread anymore than I already have done, I have made this seperate Thread.
As we have seen in the past, ANet seems to not really care about certain rules they have set. As I have already mentioned in the other thread, Andrew Patrick, an ANet employee, was in Rebel Rising[rawr] when they won last Months GvG Tournament. I know he was only there to help out with the [rawr] cup, but this raises the Question Why exactly he had to be in the Guild, because I am sure in organising this Event, they weren't exactly using Guild Chat to communicate. But I might be wrong who knows.
Now in the whole History of Guild Wars only one Guild has ever been Disqualified. That was [QQ]. They were accused of having manipulated the Guild Ladder back in the days where it was still important. After ANet had looked into this, they found out that, [QQ] didn't manipulate the Ladder at all, but were still disqualified from the Season for Racial Slurs and extensive Swearing in their Chats.
Does that seem fair? I am not saying QQ didn't deserve to be DQed, after all they did break a Rule, but so did [rawr]. Why does [rawr] leave unpunished.
I am sure People will tell me now that, even though Andrew Patrick was in the guild nothing has happened, but having been in ZoS myself for a short time, I can say that he does slip out Information every now and again. The one I remember was the "Fear Me!" Nerf. He probably didn't do it on purpose but it just shows that every now and again Info that should be kept secret isn't.
And Izzy let's out info about Skill Updates before they even are in game.
Now even though [rawr] has done great things for the Community they should still be punished for breaking a rule. If Angelina Jolie was found to have a Slave in her kitchen, does that exempt her from punishment by the law?
Why does Anet enforce some rules but not others?
So tell me what you all think about this. Should [rawr] get punished. Should the rules get changed?

Didn't overdo what? So your saying [rawr] should be left of the hook just because they are favoured?
P.S Hey Alex, hows you?

So do it a little is ok, but it's not if you overdo it?
Maybe I should break laws "a little" too.

It's only PvP...
As long as he had no part in the actual matches, then there is no problem. Less conspiracy theories, please.

Its no conspiracy theory, I am jsut stating it could have happened, and has happened before where ANet employees have leaked info which shouldn't have been.
And its "only" PvP? It's the only gametype in GW where there are real life prizes. It isn't much but still.

It's more about the Principle than anything else.

Pretty much what he said. Also, wasn't there another thread or two like this that got closed?

Drama thread #2! Let's see how long it is before this gets closed.
For those who don't know, it's only a principle thread because [rawr] only used Andrew for RAWR Cup support.

Breaking the laws IS breaking the laws. You may not get caught everytime you do it. But that's NOT because you don't do it too much; you can and you WILL get caught if you break the laws, no matter how little you do.
Regarding the matter, I'd say that Anet could use a more refined rule. If it's ok to have an Anet employee in your guild while playing tournament as long as said employee doesn't take part in the tournament, MAKE SURE THE RULE SAYS EXACTLY THAT. Don't make a rule that says "You must not have Anet employee in your guild" and then manage to allow such thing to happen and try to clarify the rule case-by-case. It's just clumsy.

Whats beginning to surprise me is just how many people actually believe its ok for ANet to break their own rules, and that the potential "embezzelment" of $4000 is quite ok to let go? Its not drama ... its quite serious..... thats stealing.
Information I have recieved has indicated that AP changed his role within in ANet due in part to this fiasco. So, why havent management given the players the courtesy of explaining their actions THOUGHOUT this whole affair?
Why, THREE weeks laters are we still waiting? Why are we being stonewalled?
How deep does this rabbit hole go? As I mentioned in post 339 of the aforementioned thread... theres still HUGE suspicion that ANet staffers were heavily involved with Armbrace Duping. When ANet behave with this apparent lack of respect and arrogance to the player base, why then should we believe that corruption is not endemic within the Company? Feel cheated yet? I do.
I also seriously question the legality of ANets behaviour when $4000 is involved. I may be no lawyer, but I'm pretty sure that when prizes of this amount are involved there are some protections. I also wonder what ANets Sponsors and Partners would have to say to this potential "insider dealing". I for one will be emailing them to ask their opinions.
Where are the assurances this has been properly dealt with? Where are the assurances that it wont happen again. Where are the assurances that it hasnt happened in the past?
This is a multi million dollar company...Fraud and embezzlement are serious accusations...ones which are in need of squashing or fixing.
I for one dont feel good about giving my money to a company that has the audacity to lie to me and then, to add insult to injury, stonewall me when theyre caught out.
To have it confirmed that AP and Izzy DO leak info, is to be honest, the final straw.
And the BITTERST irony......
ZoS is/was part of The ULGG... an alliance who's very ethos was HONORABLE gaming. well thats a bloody farce now isnt it. Not only have the staff been dishonorable to their own Alliance but also to every playertheyve come into contact with by default.
Why should we now believe that the Armbrace Duping affair DIDNT come out of ANet towers? I personally believe it started there, I know many others do too..... it would appear Anet staff are more that willing AND able to break thei r own game and screw the playerbase. thx guys GG not.

To clarify for the less informed....
He could have told them about the screw up in map rotation. He could have told them when it was being reverted. That could have won them two games out of 7 by itself, a vast advantage. Of course, the implications for the conflict of interest portion are much greater. Their weapons could be more potent, 50/50 instead of 40/40 (this sort of thing happens, look up EVE and associated scandals), they could all pick up a regen, and so on. Devs feeling a part of a group gives them strong incentive for bias on behalf of that group and very may well lead to cheating either in the giving of privileged information (like the map changes) or in a more material sense. It is to avoid this situation that devs aren't allowed in competing guilds. It doesn't matter whether or not you think a violation may have occurred- you often never know in these cases. The point is to prevent the question from ever coming up. If it does come up, something is wrong.

Ok, I don't want this Thread to become a Drama Topic. Please keep Anti-[rawr] stuff out of here.
This Topic is about Anets rules. Not [rawr]. They were just the best example.

More then likely Andrew was in rawr because there was more then 1 person setting up the event. Yes they probably could have sent him a guild invite to chat with him in their guild hall but joing rawr also makes sense as well. That way many people can talk to him and see him when he is on. (Yes even though they could have done that through friend's list) I don't think rawr is at fault or should be punished just because Andrew was in their guild. rawr almost alway seemed to do well in the Monthlys even before Andrew joined, I doubt they won because of them. So no they shouldn't be punished for it.
