I've just been trying to sell my Runic Blade and a Monk/Assassin, acting very interested in the weapon started sending me messages, claiming the trade window was bugged, and we needed to go outside so I could show him.
Hilarious stuff. |

I was asking for a 20/20 Sword Hilt. This was when they were 50K+ and someone was offering to sell one for like 30K. I thought, ok, bargain. I put up my money, they put up the 20/20 and then it cancels. He says something about full inventory, try again, did and it cancels again. He tries one more time, and this time I put up my money and they put up a Fiery Sword Hilt and try to have me hit Accept, I changed my offer to 30g and they didn't take it, go figure. Looks like 30K, lol

This isn't the worst scamming attempt but some guy was selling a r9 Celestial Sword for 25k so I asked if it was inscribable, he said it was, and I proceeded to buy it.
He then said he left it on another character and returned 2 minutes later and opened the trade window where I entered 25k. It had a Damage +14% (While in a Stance) inherent mod - not "Dance with Death"and he kept pushing me to buy it saying that it was inscribable and that he added that +14% mod himself so it had to be inscribable. When I rejected it he started calling me all sorts of stuff like "time waster", "noob" and other typical Internet insults. My faith in humanity depletes every time I trade. |

Not much luckely. Few times some people who try to offer gold instead of platinum.
But i hate the most the one time i had a kuuny, and not knowing how mucht they were priced (150k those days) i sold mine for 15k, thinking minipets were stupid. I blame the other guy for taking advantage of this :P (Altough of course.. it's still my own silly fault =) ). |

I was trying to sell some Zaishen Keys in LA for 3k each. I get a message:
Scammer: Hey, can I buy your keys? Me: Sure ^.^ 3k each sound good? Scammer: Sure, but I don't have 45k on me for the keys, can I pay you back 100k later? Me: Oh, I'm sorry, some one offered 100k+10 ectos right now. Scammer: Oh, that's ok. I can farm 100k in 10 minutes in Underworld for soloing it on my elementalist Me: Could I have the build please? Scammer: It's a family secret sorry. Really. Me: Oh ok, so how much money do you have right now? Scammer: None, I just bought my 59th set of FoW armor. Me: Then.. why are you in droks armor? Scammer: It's all on my monk. Me: Ahh, sorry, some one just offered 1 armbrace pey key. Scammer: That's ok, I'll give you 10 armbraces per key. *10 minute silence* Me: Ahh sorry, I just sold the keys for 3k each. Scammer: OMFG U NUUUB WHYD U DO DAT Y DIDNT U TRUST ME!? U CULDVE BEEN SOOOOOOO RICHH!!!!1! Me: Do you really expect me to believe you? Scammer: YESS! OVCOURSE! IT'S SO EASY TO GET ALL DAT MONEY! Me: I don't believe you sorry. *Another 10 minutes* Scammer: It's ok, you're not pro like me. Me: How long have you been playing? Scammer: About 8 years, Why? Me: Welcome to my ignore list. Me: Oh and congratulations, you win, 1st place! |

I would say the most pathetic scamming attempt I've encountered in during my time playing Guild Wars would probably be ANet offering the Bonus Mission Pack as an exclusive offer for those who buy things in the online store, then later offering to sell it for ten dollars to anyone.

How about only scam someone pulled on me
Had just started playing around nine months ago, first char just out of pre-searing and was about to work my way to the dragon festival when someone asks me if I would like to buy one of their 6 birthday presents. I ask what that is and she explains, I ask how much and she says 5k. Just like she's hoping I knew nothing about the different presents and buy it. It's just a festival present, my dumb but it did give 1k and I learned. Only time someone thought I might be a scammer In pre-searing someone was selling ale and I offered to buy all of it. Opened trade and I use that arrow to increase amount for the asked 800 gold. Around 300 she breaks trade and says to explain before she reports me for scamming so I say "Give me time, you have to know how long it takes to get this counter to 800". She laughs, asks how long I've been playing and tells me I can just type the amount. I look back and laugh at a fue things I did while playing while new. |
