Because people like have a "stop everyone from dying" skill when they don't have to play against it. I seriously doubt anyone enjoyed the energizing finale/incoming meta. Nothing died, ever.

*Sigh anyone else think the recent and long-term nerfs were for better or not?
|
Those skills bolded are still incredibly viable today.
And Healer's Boon was more of a buff than a nerf, I thank you.
(Infact - TNTF, HB, EW, Incoming, Fall Back, and SF were extremely strong skills. SF, TNTF and HB are still and were always extremely strong. And PvP losers? gtfo please.)

Yet the MM is still a very strong character. The difference is that you can't steamroll the whole world all by yourself as you used to during the old days. The nerf was needed very much.

Basically anything having to do with necros is honestly a needed nerf. I've been playing a nec since day 1 and seriously, I can roll over just about anything I feel like rolling over.
Every nerf they get hit with is just another adjustment and move on. I still believe that the necro is simply the most well designed character in the game.
MM and EchoSS are still very lethal builds. Together? WOW! Echo+SS+MoP+SS+SS+ 10 Minions. Little yellow numbers dancing everywhere. but, uhh.. uh oh, no, necros ARE balanced.. hmmh mhm hmm
but anyway, nerfs to MM sucked, nerf to Soul Reaping sucked but oh well, rebuild, move on, no problem.

[Elite] "Victory is Mine," use to be affected by everyone in the area, instead of one person, who needs to be targeted. -_-
[Elite] Offering of Blood - I believe they doubled in heath sacrific.
Blackout - Was so fun in RA with a little IW ranger and expertise.
[Elite] Ether Renewal - Never used it but man did it get smacked hard in functionality.
Go for the Eyes - Use to fuel my scythe paragon's energy while giving a way to create constant burning. I devoted a whole bar to make it work so I think the recharge was a little harsh.
Soul Reaping - I don't mind the nerf BUT it's stupid how they implemented it. Why should I try to TIME my kill to make a passive benefit most effective.

dont fool yourself, it was a pvp induced nerf.
"steamrolling" through pve areas is easily done now using many many different means, the most imba springing to mind is Ursan of course.
the nerf if you look at if from purely a pve perspective makes NO sense in the current state of the game.
not that anet gives a damn, they show no consistency in their game "vision" at all.
edit : im not arguing that it didnt need fixing, i think balance is key in PvE as well.

Because they could just lower the damage reduction instead of making the skill useless.

Blood Song move to channeling. In itself the skill was un nerfed however the move nerfed the entire communing line. Even after a 90+ page thread proving that Anguished was Lingwah was a better move for both the PvP balance needs and the PvE experience they simply ignored the thread.
Why did they move Blood Song?
It was because some high end PvP guild was complaining that channeling/ Rit Spike was too weak and that channeling needed another spirit. Having Blood Song in channeling helped their particular build. The guild in question that had a lot of influence in balance decisions at the time and had nothing to do with reason or rational. To save face ANet simply ignored the facts presented to them and left the change in play.
The Ritualist skill list is so screwed up it's amazing. Many of the skills in communing, spawning, and channeling just don't belong where they are listed. You have mix matched skills all over the place with little consistency's. Rather than actually setting the class skills up right they just band-aid the class, do no real balance, then still call it an overpowered problem child. Anet had a great class concept and still they just killed it off because of stupid PvP issues.

It's pretty amazing to see how many PvP sins actually know how to make a build when there is nothing good on the wiki. Very few, but I will admit, those sins were probably better than the no talent, ass-hat, wiki using 1-2-3-4-5 spammers.
Then slowly, with the HotO build they slowly came back and then...BAM, nerfed again, and once again you see AB go from 10v10 sin teams to virtually no sins at all, and now, once again, they come staggering back into AB once more with their wiki builds.
Mobeious Strike is next you bastards.

You can say the same shit about every class...
Those no talented players would just move on to other classes using other wiki builds... it doesn't matter whether they were on assassin or not, if they sucked at playing a sin, they're not going to be any better at anything else.

I would have to say the nerfs on Incoming, Searing Flames and Light of Delieverance had to be some of Anets worst nerf ideas.

Granted I never was a 55 farmer but I was thinking a bit about this. You need an 18 in Prot to get back to the 2 en right? Since you have the consumable items (candy corn isn't it? That's the +1 to all stats for 10mins? There's a grail of might too?) and you can swap armor in PvE (i.e. head piece) and have +1 items on your staves etc. Wouldn't this still be possible (assuming no nightmares pop up and rend)? Just not sure if the cost of this out weighs the benefit.
elk
edit - I believe the grail gives you a +hp bonus which would be no good for a 55 unless you're willling to wait out the 30min effect =\ but the candy corn will still work
