My Account was hacked!!!!!!! Money Stolen!
Ok, I am furious.
I just went into GW and when I logged in, I thought it was kind of funny that my ranger was the highlighted character because I had been raptor farming last night with my Ele.
Anyway, I click on my ele and then have some things I need to put into storage and behold there's 100k missing from my storage!!! I had exactly 150k and some change in there last night when I logged off and then I log into my account just a few mins ago and there's now only 50k in there.
Also my 36 ectos that I Had were stolen as well.
I am freaking furious as all hell here. There is no one that could have possibly known the password that I use either (and now I've just changed it..) so someone had to of hacked my account....
I logged into my Ranger and it was in the Great Temple of Baltazaar, which I never go into..... so yeah. This is ridiculous.
I mean what the hell can I do. I basically just had well over 200k stolen from me that I have spent the last 2 years working my ass off in game for and now some asshole has taken that away.
This makes no sense and i am so pissed off right now it's not even funny.
What the hell can I do.....

Report to http://support.guildwars.com, change your passwords, clean your computer. Otherwise there's nothing nobody can do.

At least you still have access to the account. Change the password...

you are lucky to still have your characters.....most times hackers unload the whole account and delete everything they cant sell or move....
I would suggest also doing a thorough sweep of your computer and make sure your anti virus and walls and spy ware stuff is up to date....and make sure you have a pretty hard password (check for trojans and keyloggers on your computer as well)......
there is a section on how to keep your computer safe....I would suggest browsing it and make sure you are clean!
(and yeah it sucks....but it could have been worse).
good luck

yeah, I got everything all cleaned up just to be sure now as well. Usually am clean of everything and try to remain that way.
This is so retarded. It'd be cool if GW support would give me an IP and like an actual name/address. I'd fly to their house and punch them in the face. Yup!

Sorry to say, this was not a "hacker". This was someone you know. A hacker would have taken everything you had, and maybe even deleted your characters just to let you know he was there.
This is a friend of yours who knows your access details or a family member. It's as simple as that.

ANet sure as hell won't give you your gold back. You're SOL there. There's only one thing you can do, if you decide to start a new account or something... and that's smarten up and protect your account. Getting "hacked" is always your own fault.

No one knows/has access to my accounts in any way, especially since the password I use is unique to me for security reasons no matter what.. Sorry to say I wish it were that simple, so I could punch someone much closer to me.

Of course.
You, in one way or another, purposely or accidentally, revealed your guild wars login e-mail and/or password to someone else. That's basically all it takes for all your stuff to go poof.
It's your job to figure out how you did that. tip: being naive gets you nowhere.

Sorry to hear that and hope you can find out who did it.
I wish those of us who are hooked up through the playNC site can
change our game logins NOT just the master one.
As I still have yet to find a way to do that just for the game screen login.

What they're saying is no one will just randomly go around hacking people by brute force or we'd have a lot more hacked people, so something had to be on your computer or you had to do something.
Cause if it was brute force wtf would they hack you for? There's a lot of people who have more money than you do.
I'm thinking it was someone you know because they only took that 100k and ecto and not all of it. There's no other explanation.

As I said, I wish it were that simple.
No one has seen/touched my computer but me.
All my accounts have different logins/passwords depending on what they're for and GW is no exception on being unique. My passwords aren't something that you just pop into your head/even attempt to guess either. Their alpha-numeric combinations that have meaning to me, and no one else.
Not naive. I wish I could be and I wish this were someone close to me, so I could deliver an ass whoopin'
Someone got into that account remotely and from somewhere else in their own way. How it could be is beyond me.

So you lost approximately 100k and 36 ectos. This is more or less a standard output for trades. It seems to me that the hacker may have traded something for the 100k and 36 ectos on your account. I guess when the hacker's account is being evaluated, it is likely that this trade will be taken as a defense from the hacker, which may avoid any possible punishments.
You may want to take that into consideration. Also, computer security is not enough to fight against hackers; if it is possible, try find a friend who plays almost always and be in the same guild as this friend. If there's any weird movements to your account, someone will make a difference. After all, that's how I managed to get my friend's account back quickly.

Oh i'm not calling you naive at all, i'm just saying if you want to try and figure out how exactly this happen so it doesn't happen again, to approach it with an open mind. You know, keep all possibilities open. Your situation does sound weird, being as whoever did steal your stuff didn't steal all of it. Try a few virus scans, anything... i don't know, wish i could help you out a bit more here. GL.

My cousin ws recently hacked but it turned out to be a log in and log out war for an hour or so until all of his characters were wipped. He was on when the hacker got on the first time. He did save like 40k though.
Only good part was the moron hacker decided to pm us in game once he was getting kicked off and we got screen shots. We reported the incident and he hasn't been ingame since...
I truely believe this has something to do with the PlayNC site. It is so vague with information and won't let you change your password from the client. My cousin never gave any information out and he got busted...his account is tied to PlayNC.
But the hacker also pmed us with some of the information from PlayNC...ie address, name, and such. That's where I believe he got the account information but I have no clue as to how...
Sorry for what happened to you. All I can say is report it.

Yes, there have been incidents with NCSoft's site in the past. One reason I loath to change my password. Basically NCSoft has been "hacked" before, and account information stolen for games other than just GW.

If I may add something to the sensible posts before (it's refreshing to see people get the problem quite right), security hacks don't happen by magic. There's always a good explanation and many times (spoken from experience) people don't realise the "mistake" they made than open the door of their account to the hacker. I think that, once you've made sure that your GW account is secure (strong password, test them, see this thread) and your computer completely safe (see previous link), you should try your best to understand what happened. Only you can do that as there's no universal situation of "hacking". I've been involved many times in post-hacking situations where I had to guide people through understanding what happened, and very often they realise that they let someone look over their shoulder at their screen, or get access to their room where their password may have been written in a post-it note, or they may have used this 3rd party program for just a little while. Hackers are not magicians, they exploit vulnerabilities that people overlook and everyone makes mistakes (even security people!). The 3 important things are: 1) understand what the problem is; 2) learn from your mistake; 3) teach people around you about what happened and how to behave securely.
(it's rather strange that the hacker didn't take everything on your account)
