Afk.....
Well peeps here it is I finally bothered to ask a question which no one has a answer to but it might develop a bit of convosation basically afk......
Now there are ppl who like to afk in the oddest places and I wondered does anyone reading this go afk in a pacific place. For example Olafstead the home of the Norn point farmers. I have seen SO many afk monks if no one has farmed Norn rep points in HM before the requirements for a Norn run is 2 HB monks and 6 ursans. I just wondered why these people pick that particular place to go afk it’s just so MEAN there are ppl who have all but 1 monk and they invite about 20 monks which are obviously afk. This got me thinking perhaps ppl enjoy going AFK in areas where there class is needed
Another example is this person who is always in the evenings is afk at beacons perch I will not mention her name but basically it suggests she runs ppl to droks At least I presume she goes afk she dances in the same spot for hours and I mean hours on end (I know cus I often do the drok run)
So my question to you lot is when you go afk do u map to a particular place and then go afk. Or do u just go afk ....anywhere.
Plz post your answers

There's a few places I afk with my monk at... ToA, Gate of Madness, THK and, of course, Olafstead.
Yes, I do it for the lulz.

One of the main reason the Monk Strike happened in THK a couple years back. A couple monks being AFK and then all the monks started showing up and striking... good times. So when is the next Monk strike going to happen?

I go afk but rarely, if I plan to be gone from my pc more than 2-3 min I logout.... I hate to have ppl pm me and miss it.... "not a good way to win friends and influence people" as my dearly beloved mother would have said.

I like to AFK my monk at Hell's Precipice when I'm taking a break. More importantly, showing the "Protector of Tyria" title. Yes, a lot of warriors still invite me without so much as asking for my help. Best you're likely to get is a chant of a whole team demanding you join them for normal mode.

We had some fun once in Ring of Fire with another team. We were a guild group and all on teamspeak. We had 7/8 in our group and were waiting on the 8th to finish up a quest and join us.
I noticed that 2 or 3 others in town were trying to invite our monk onto their team. They were spamming local chat with
"<insert monk's name>, hey please join us. We need monks"
"Come on, please. Accept!"
They were all standing around him, dancing and waving and trying to get him to join. We hadn't really noticed much since we were in TS and not paying much attention to the town. Once we noticed our necro decided to have fun.
Necro: He's with us. We're waiting on a guildie to start.
Monk: LOL, sorry fellows
Monkless team: please we really need a monk. please come with us.
Monkless team: just accept. finish the mission with us. You're just standing around.
Necro: We'll sell him to you for 100k
Monkless team: No way! That's robbery!!
Necro: Honest. Give me 100k and we'll kick him.
Monkless team: No monk is worth 100k!!!
Necro: This one is. He's ranked and everything.
<he is. he earned rank 3 in HA earlier in the month>
Necro: So, you need a monk or not? He's a super monk. Guaranteed!!
Monkless team: That's a scam.
Necro: Ok, ok. Just for you, 80k.
We were dying laughing on TS. Anyways about that time our 8th showed up and we started the mission. I think those guys might still be in town looking for a monk.

Me too - Guild Hall
Considering that I've got Legendary Vanquisher using 95% just H&H (no Ursan, btw), I don't know what all the problem is with teams needing Monks. Most of the time I took 2 henchie monks - otherwise Tahlkora. Just don't be cheap - treat your Heroes well - Major Vigor, etc.

actually, you don't even need to rune up your heroes. it helps, but it's not necessary. i got legendary guardian and vanquisher of cantha without runing up my heroes.

Blind invites. Don't you just love them? I mean, these people in town have no idea why I am there (HM mission, vanquishing, cartographer, whatever) and they send an invite. Good times.

I only go AFk if I'm actually going to be afk. I don't do it for laughs or anything. Just if I'm coming back in like 2-5 min.

Sometimes - usually when I'm half-AFK and only alt-tabbing back in to chat to people. Recently I've been using Riverside Province (down by the water's edge, it's where I am as I type this, lol), and Yahnur Market. I like quiet places where I'm often the only one in town.
Or Thirsty River, GoM, Vizunah etc on my monk when I'm feeling mean.
