Don't do this in HM.

I dunno about you, but sure that may've been fun the first time. But the 3rd-4th time doing a mission, can get pretty damn boring no matter what.
I agree with whoever said a few posts ago that things used to be good in GW PvE when the only way to get anything done was to actually have to PLAY with other people. Aside from the griefers, nubs, and rage quitters- PuG's can be pretty fun. Now usually having Guild Members is a much better experience, but I honestly always pugged back in the day. It gave you a chance to be social in GW, discuss your thoughts on builds to an extent, and see the flaws in your own or even the other people's. In the beginning of Prophecies there were almost no cookie cutters, think far back- before MM's and SS's took over (even though their stay was short). In a sense, the downfall of this gun-hoe mix it up play style was largely due to the wiki's, I think everyone with a brain could agree on that. Sure theres the argument that you DON'T have to use wiki, but the sheer benefits and the "everyone else did it" mentality easily counters that point. It was much more fun playing the unknown, and combating it in your own style- then playing builds others created in an 100% proof strategy.
I remember the days when people would ACTUALLY comment you while playing! When was the last time any of you have heard (outside of RA really), "Oh wow you took him down quick, whats your elite?"- or "Could you show me your build after miss?". Now of course those are generic extremes and half the population doesn't even type that well, but you get the point. Not many people knew the limits of GW, and the few that did were highly regarded. Everyone else was left to find it out for themselves, on their own to play the game as it should be played. Now if theres any Pugging to be done- its done in Ursanway, others 2 people + 6 heroes, or the most depressing 1 person + 3 heroes, 4 henchman.

At the risk of getting flamed, I believed that the Threat OP is suffering from what I called "Gamer's Fatigue". For different gamers, this means in general, different things.
This is not so much about whether a game is good or bad, but rather, is more akin to like, " a person who really loves eating burgers, but ate SOOO much at one sitting, that now, he just finds the taste of it, well, disgusting ".
Another good example, is like a person listening to a song he particularly likes, but making this same person listen to the same song continuously 1000 hours in a row, and lets see whether he still wants to hear it.
Everyone has different levels and degrees of tolerance of something. I believe that in the OP's case, the problem lies not so much in the game, but probably he is just plain sick of it, as he has reached his limit of tolerance of the game.
Playing anymore of GW in this case, can be said as going from, " pleasure to raw pain ". That being said, a mental wall is built, which, from his point of view, that no matter what type of build or variation he tries, he will NOT enjoy playing it.
At this point, he mentioned that he has left the game, and even upon coming back, he is not enjoying it. This is another human related factor. For all the gamers out there, I believe that everyone has AT least 1 or games that they have not finished, probably left it incomplete for a very long time.
Suddenly coming back to it, to where you left off, makes you feel just well, plain alien to it, as you find that you are unable to identify with what you accomplished so far. Thus, this is another reason for the exponential rise in "sickness" against the game.
So my advice at this point is,
1. Uninstall GW.
2. Find a Game of completedly another genre, just try something different.
3. IF GW still exists 10 years on, try coming back, and RESTARTING a new char.

To the OP: Play with real people. At least one. At some point H/H gets mindnumbingly boring and it seems as though you've found it. I'd say ditch H/H altogether, but the vast majority of experienced people play alone H/H or in limited groups with heroes, so PUGs are not what they used to be.

Hah, I feel the same way. That's why I only have 2 pve chars, 1 of them just finished GWEN this month!!!, other one hasn't even done Nightfall/GWEN, don't think I could be bothered. Then again I was always a PvP junky for any titled game.

It is total crap to gimp yourself by rushing, doing stupid things, making things artifically harder to get a challenge.
It is also cynical that humans make the game harder to play than just playing with heroes. Sad, but true.
Heroes are indeed strong enough to bring you through everything. People can do Urgoz all alone with 9 Heroes, a so-called elite area. Where PUGs often utterly fail, is that not amazing?
The game was made too easy for "casuals" or whatever we want to call them. We have got tons of ridiculous skills and pve balance was never really given a thought. And to top these questionable decisions, they added Ursan Blessing.
Positive voices see it as an incentive to group with real people, but it is sad that a game that required some planning and strategy degraded to that level of gameplay.

Heroes didn't kill PvE.
The ones who H/H would probably take only hench if there were no heroes.
PuGs killed PuGs.

True. Sometimes I miss the days when you were limited by what skills were available. Now it seems we can do just about anything.
I liked it when henchies were a last resort, not a good alternative to humans.
But then I play with a PuG and am reminded how retarded people are. "Why did you bring firestorm? You're spec'ed in air..." "Because it's pretty!" "..."
