Character slots are perfect use for this. Directsong music packs would also be good. The idea of selling in-game items or content however is really unappealing to me. I've never been a fan of the whole "Item Mall" idea. I'm also a bit leery of the idea for fear that we'll get nickle and dimed to death for things that otherwise would have been given to the community. Want the Sorrow's furnace upgrade? $5. Want the Tomb's Underworld Access? $5. Want material storage? $5. I know we've got these great updates simply for being part of the game, and I'd hate to see that change, especially with some potentially helpful things like auction houses possibly on the horizon. Having to purchase these upgrades would just leave a sour taste in a lot of players' mouths.

Character slots (and maybe storage) is fine, but the moment ingame items/skins/etc... appear in a real-money shop, I will leave GW forever.
If you REALLY need a lot more money to keep the game going, I would rather be fine with paying a higher price for the upcoming chapters - and I think a lot of fellow players share this opinion.

I would like...
Mules
A further extention to the backpack, like a third bag only bigger and like a mini-pet only not mini. It could start out with 20 spaces and be expandable in 10 slot increments up to 40 or 60. There could be a bunch of mules... giant insects, reptiles, animals, magical constructs like golems or a chest with legs (yes, like Luggage Although Luggage is a super version of an AD'n'D critter called a Mimic I think, a magical treasure chest that eats people). The mule would be invulnerable and follow you around like a mini-pet and be accessed though the regular inventory window as an extenstion (just like a 3rd bag, but bigger).
Xunlai Vault
An expanded storage space for the hoarders out there.
Custom dye job
I like the idea of putting my character in a previewer and messing with colours until I find something I like. Basically I want a colour chooser like I'd find in a paintshop package where I can just mess around until I have what I want... and then I want to buy it as a colour scheme I can save somewhere and apply to any of my characters' armour.
Stylist / Transmutor
I'm not sure if this should be free or not... but I wouldn't mind throwing one of my characters into a previewer to change their sex, face, skin colour and hair.

The only thing I think that should be sold that is in-game related is character slots and maybe extra storage. I'd much rather have each character get their own armor storage tab that is not shared across the entire account. I mean, you will never want to transfer armors to different characters cause it's customized. Many PvE players have several armor sets because they need different rune sets depending on the build they are running, or they need specific sets optimized for PvP play. Also, many characters have multiple holiday hats. Having an armor closet for each character that is not shared will solve all these problems.
Going back on topic, selling vanity items such as white dye, unique armor skins, or unique skinned customized weapons is not good. The 15k armors and FoW armors gives PvE characters something to work for. If you can buy some cool looking armor, then it indirectly affects the value of the ingame armors (ex: some people buy ebay gold to buy cool looking armors/skins, now they just buy the skin directly). Some people are suggesting stuff like a hair stylist or the ability to change looks. If this is implemented, I'd rather have it cost in-game gold instead.
Things that don't really have anything to do with gameplay, such as buying soundtracks or real life items such as mugs or shirts are ok.

I wish i was Anet right now. I'd have so many people with open wallets begging for some fairly simple additions/changes and this is as far as the market research needs to go. Contrary to other threds, Anet seem to have a good business model and good options.

Please don't sell any in-game items or in-game features of any kind. Even just vanity or coolness stuff. Such things should be rewards for buying the latest chapter and playing it, and should never cost extra money.
Character slots, accounts, full expansions, and RL items are fine. I like the idea of customizable RL stuff with your own character(s) or favorite skill(s) on them.

Extra slots fine, storage fine and soundtracks/merchandise all fine to sell for real money.
In game vanity of any kind (hairstylist/vanity armour/sex change), in game items/skills and anything else In game should be a service from a merchant type npc or just not available at all.
I have and will continue to support this game till the servers close and we all sit in LA lamenting the loss as the server ticks down to close. I will buy chapters as they come and should you offer merchandise I'd snap it up.
However
In game items/stuff should not be affected by real world wealth in any way for all the reasons given in this thread. It would destroy immersion in the game for me at least and any respect for anyones items/armour would dissapear.

I know all this stuff has been posted already, but here are my picks...
1) Storage
2) Armor. Same stats is fine, but let me pick from 100 different skins!
3) An aura, such as a glowing effect or perhaps fog or the toxic thing from that one quest in Factions. Give me a lot of choices here too.
4) A MAKEOVER FOR MY CHARACTER! Perhaps I didn't choose the right hairdo or something. Don't make me start over from scratch! Let me make over the apperance. Including height and face.
5) Make the price reasonable. If you charge too much for stuff, I'll completely put it out of mind and never buy any of it. If you make it affordable, I'll buy stuff regularly.
Oh...and accept Paypal!

Ugh. Both of these things repulse me as things to pay real money for.
In particular, now that ANet is selling character slots, they have a disincentive to actually make it easy to change professions easily. Instead, you could buy more character slots and have LOTS of PvP characters! Even though you should be able to easily reconfigure your one PvP character whenever you want (outside of battle, obviously).
I'm not saying ArenaNet is going to do these things. But there are some things that I really do believe should have been in the game from the start, even though I was willing to pay for Guild Wars when they were lacking them. I'd like to think ArenaNet would show good faith by simply adding some of these things to the game (especially the ability to change PvP characters around), or at the very worst include them in the normal price of a new version (i.e. Maybe Nightfall includes Auction Houses). The idea of paying extra on top of everything for this kind of thing really turns me off.
As much as I really like Guild Wars, things like that might disgust me enough to make me stop playing. (It starts crossing the line to paying for things that give "competitive" advantage -- if other people pay money for an Auction House, you really are kind of screwed if you don't get it. Sure, you can technically still sell to other people outside of the auction house, but you'll have one heck of a time trying to find any buyers who aren't just going to go to the auction house instead. It essentially becomes a necessary purchase to keep doing what you used to do -- sell things!)

Somewhat controversial, but just sell gold.
I know, I know - it's what 90% of this forum is voting against, but bear with me.
Large amounts of platinum are available to buy out there through illegal sources. Anet has regular purges of bots and sellers, but it's a drop in the ocean.
Bot farming/gold selling will never end, so sell gold officially and kill off the illegal traders overnight.
/sigh -on with the flame-retardant longjohns

As long as you don't include any items that would affect gameplay (that includes vanity items, custom dye, storage increase, gold etc.) I don't really mind what the store will sell. I almost expect some gw promo items to be available for purchase (t-shirts, mousepads, that gw keyboard and maybe even those pins they give to pvp winners), but I don't think I'll be spending my cash there.
Stick to selling character slots and grow fat.

What I'd like to buy:
1. more storage
2. account merge or character transfer. Mentioned several times already--we bought another account because we needed more character slots and there was no other way to get them at the time. Now that you can purchase character slots, I'd like the option of purchasing a full account merge, where account A's characters are transferred to account B and then account A is closed. I know there would be stuff to work out, like reconciling unlocked skills etc., but I do believe it can be worked out and that there are a significant number of players who want this.
3. skill pins
What I don't want to see available:
1. anything that undercuts something that was supposed to be limited or special. Sale of CE keys at full price I don't care about, but upgrading an existing account so it gets CE features at a low price shouldn't happen. Same goes for minipets and that sort of thing.
2. anything that would impact the in-game economy
3. anything that players normally get by playing the game, i.e. items, armor, gold, etc.

i think buying diffent armor skins would be cool, but it'd be that same cost as 15k armor and maybe use rubies and sapharies (sp?) as materials for the armor

Everything.
sell gold just to put the farmers out of business. (someone's going to make the money, let it be Arenanet!)
sell skill pins so I can get them. yay!
sell in-game accessories for your characters, like amulets, bracelets, or a visible backpack. I'm sure quite a few people would find those cool.
sell access to a dance trainer, who can teach old characters new dances.
sell Guild Wars t-shirts through the store with an extra twist:
you get the t-shirt for your character, and you get one sent to you! w00t that would be sweet.
oh, and sell spiffy hats. Spacesuit helmets, underwater helmets, pirate hats, chef hats, etc.
You could even add a charity to your store, like Child's Play, which is run by the snazzy dudes over at pennyarcade.com. It'd be neat to be able to donate money through the game.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Gaile read this
I would LOVE to pay for PvP templates. Whether client side (ok) or Server-side (way, way better), this would make team creation MUCH faster. I am a busy adult, so I would be happy to pay a little cash to help 8-man team formation take less than an hour (on a good day!).
How many times do I have to keep recreating the same damn builds?!?!?! PvP Templates would be SUCH a wonderful thing. (Peronally, I think they shoud be a standard feature, but if that isn't financially feasible, I would be happy to pay for it.)

1- additional character slots
2- campaign chapter keys
3- changing the skin (sex/model/hair/face, etc) of an existing character
4- UAX
5- extra territory changes
5 is usefull for people between time zones (australia, etc).
3 will be more and more usefull as more new skins appear with new chapters.
4 will be usefull only to those who want it, also making easier entering pvp if you're a newcomer. It could be toned down to UAX on all precedent chapters (not counting the latest released).
