Character slots, bigger storage and those directsound things and possibly "real life merchandise" (if its intended to sell that too) such things like mousepads, cloth maps, plushies, etc.
But please, no in game items, gold, fame, "guild rating" ($5 for +25 rating for your guild lol), faction, etc...

Gaile, Please read this,
I cannot stress more that the one thing I want most from this game is the ability to change my character's appearance! Even since I made my first character 14 months ago I've always wanted the ability to make she, a he. Give us a npc that lets us do it.... or just add the option to edit appearance on the login screen. I don't know how complicated this would be for Anet to implement, but it is cake compared to the things you've done in the past! Please listen to me
As for the store, let us buy Ectos, 1$ a pop!
Just kidding.
A loyal customer,
Venice Queen

A certain Penny Arcade comic keeps flashing into my head 'With each slash of the sword, a swipe of a credit card!'
The more I think of it, PLEASE dont add any ingame items for real money, promotional or not. I think the urge is too great there to forget skinning nice items for the main game but rather sell them. Many people WILL resent this as the cool weapon skins and the like are what run the economy in a way and give PvEers something to gun for. Add in content like that and you will ruin the game. Period.
Admittedly I would still like to see devine aura...even if it was different to separate if from the original CE.

Are you talking about electronic items or real life items?
I am perfectly fine with real life items (i.e. T-Shirts, Posters, etc.) being offerred in game.
I really don't like the concept of selling (for actual cash) gameplay-related items. I don't mind having the option to pay for certain non-gameplay related items (i.e. extra character slots, different music, backup dancers, customized minipets, etc)...
But I do mind that, for a game that is supposed to be "free online play", to have items that are tied directly to characters cost money. This would include:
1. Weapons and armor. I don't care that they would have the same statistics as other armor/weapons - if it's an item that someone carries in the game, I want the same ability to acquire that item by PLAYING THE GAME, without having to pay actual cash to get it.
2. Bigger storage. Again, storage is a functional part of the game to allow you to store your inventory. Allowing players to "purchase" additional slots goes against the ability of players to maintain a diverse armor set, etal...which restricts their ability to play the game as compared to cash-paying players.
3. Auction house. Again, trading items in game is important to normal gameplay - the ability to generate gold from selling your items to other players. Those that pay to have access to an auction house would have a distinct advantage over those that do not, whether it be acquiring armor or weapons or even buying skills, as they would likely have excess funds available from using the auction house that other non-cash paying players would not.
I would be very disappointed if Guild Wars attempted to charge for any of these items, as it would exclude those of us not willing to pay for "extras" from fully participating in every aspect of the game.

IF you are to include anything like weapons, mini-pets, etc, please make them customized to the account. It would be a rather bad idea to offer in game items that can then be traded for ingame curency.
For the most part, I think that ingame items (weapons, armor, mini-pets, capes, etc) isn't such a good idea. It just shows that the person has a lot of real money and makes a climate that you need to buy all this stuff to be "cool".
Things I would like to see:
The ability to pre-order both regular editions and collector editions (as long as they are in stock) and have the key automatically added to your account, then have the box shipped later. This way if there is a delay in distrobution like there was with the last CE, we will still be able to play and just wait for the box.
Plushie versions of the pets and mini-pets (well, not all, but a few of them would make cute plushies)
Action figures - if you could get McFarlane to make some figures, I would be in absolute heaven.
Guild Wars shirts, hats, bags, stickers, bumper stickers, etc.
Direct Song access - just to make it a one stop shop
Window Media Player and Winamp skins - I would pay a few bucks for a good quality skin.
log-in screensaver - there was talk a while back about turning the login into a screensaver. Someone made a decent video based one, but it is in a pretty small resolution and not wide screen. A real 3d version, with alternate locations in the game to choose from would be amazing.
Thats all for now, i may have a few more later.
But as you can see, I'd prefer real items to in-game items by a long shot.

Can I pay $9.99 for storage space equivelant to what one character can hold? (e.g. 2 bags + runes of holding, backpack and belt pouch). I'll end up buying a character purely for storage anyway but this would be much more convenient.
I also think tangible merchandise would sell well from the GW shop.
Edit: $9.99 = £5.39. Packet of cigarettes in the UK - bargain!

The ability to change our hairstyle - please Gaile!
I can't even play my first beloved character, my necro who has everything unlocked and countless hours of love invested, because I despise her darn pigtails so much!
I'm willing to pay any price... within reason

What I would buy if it were available
Access to an auctioneer NPC. He could have an interface similar to the existing storage agent, but with buy and sell tabs instead.
The sell tab would allow you to store an item by dragging to the interface, but when you drop it in, you are prompted to enter the starting bid and buy out price. Items remain until removed or bought.
The buy tab would have an expandable category menu going from most general to most specific, finally showing the item (with all details) along with auction info. Your choices are to buy the item now or place a bid.
Let's get all the spam out of Kaineng/LA/Droks and lets get everyone back into the game =)
Cheers
Alex

I would pay for
Auction House
* although the auction house should be free, I'd pay to get it if necessary.
More Storage Slots at Xunlai
Hair Stylist
* and then I would even pay gold to use it in-game
Accessory Merchant
* lets you create necklaces, hair pins, etc, add gemstones to your armor or weapons for decoration, and so on
Tailor
* sells armor and lets you preview it, also should previews dyes on armor
Auras/Hats/Town Clothes (not tradeable to other players)
Mini-pets (not tradeable to other players)
Those are just things I wouldn't mind paying money for. I have plenty of spare cash so spending more money to add more enjoyable things to my favorite game is not unreasonable to me. I know that's not the case financially for everyone. And no, I would not buy more than one of these if they were character-based, but I would easily buy them all if they were account-based.
I understand that there are financial reasons behind not adding certain things into the game, such as hairstylists, since funds are limited and adding any feature to the game will cause them to spend a big chunk of time and money programming and testing a new feature. That seems to be why we mainly get seasonal events and balancing, but few new fetaures, and also seems why they are tying new features to new chapters so that they can sell another copy of the game and in the process regain money spent developing new features. Can't say I blame them. On the other hand, I also understand that adding a feature for sale in the Guild Wars Store is a risky bet because although players desire it, they may not actually pay for it, so that would mean ANet did all that programming work and made little to no financial return to even things out. I guess we can just cross our fingers about having much-requested 'fun' features added into the Guild Wars Store for purchase, because aside from purchasing a new chapter I think that's going to be the only way to get them. Hey, it's better than paying every month to use the game.

No matter what you add (I saw white dye suggested), do not make it tradeable! This will be like supporting the online buying of gold. If you add white dye in the Cash Shop, and make it tradeable, people will start buying it, and selling it ingame for up to 100k. People will then buy bunches of them, for a specific amount of money, and sell them on to people for money. Will be a substitute of EBaying!
Just today, in the game called FlyFF, I got 500 "GPotatoes" from a promotional coupon. These are used in the game Cash Shop. I then saw a guy buying an item called SProtects (bought in bunches of 5 for 400 GP) for 1 million per piece! These items have a very valid use ingame, to make sure you don't lose your item when you try to upgrade it by a Powerdice. However, as this is normally only done around lvl 60, and I was lvl 20, I found no use for it. I sold 2 of them, making 2 million, a WHOLE LOT compared to the 129,000 I already had. So don't make any of these items tradeable.
Also, in FlyFF, for the hardest boss, it is suggested you bring 1000 or so of an item called Grilled Eel, a Cash Shop consumable used to double max HP.
So don't make any practical items (Candy Canes) available and don't make any items tradeable.
Also, I would be disappointed to see any temporary deals. If you put Divine Aura in there, make it permanent. In FlyFF, you can buy special clothing, that lasts for 1 month or so. Extremely lame, IMO.

I think if you allow ANY 'in game' items to be purchased you will upset a lot of people. Especially the ones that rant on and on every time they are asked to shell out money for anything, but I think you would also maybe tip some of the people who are on the fence over to the side that doesn't like being charged for anything. One thing that I think makes Guild Wars fun is the idea that if you have on 15k armour or you have a great weapon is that you really had to EARN it. If someone can whip out a credit card for items, armour, etc. then it really diminishes the value of those items in more ways than one....
That being said, here are a couple of things I would LOVE to have the ability to purchase:
- Action Figures .... How cool would that be if I could order an action figure of one of my characters online... I know that would be a pain in the @#% considerring all the different armours/dyes/faces etc for characters, but if possible, I would drop cash for that.
- 'small' addons... I.E.- Sorrows Furnace type of addons for around $10-$15 a pop. I would also love to be able to run from Ascalon to Cantha... a small addon would allow me to do so and increase the seamlessness of the game greatly. Think of them as mini-campaigns....

Perhaps they can do what other free mmorpgs do,sell skins for wearing over ones armor, you don't get any statisical bonuses, you simply get a different skin for purchasing it over the internet,it would simply rest over the armor stats you have on currently.Of course you would have the ability to turn it on/off.
