I used the in game store to get the BMP.... My next credit card purchase was TF2, which is vastly superior to all video games. Ever.

I use the store, I bought Nightfall and EoTN through Guildwars, along with two character slots. It's easy and quick access to things you want to add to your account. Reason why the chapters/expansions cost more than in retail stores, is because it is easy access and can be activated as soon as you click "order". This is also good for people that don't live near stores that sell games... like me. I live in a smaller town, where the only store that sells games is WalMart, and that is 20-30minutes away... and walmart doesn't always get games on time. You can also get the chapter/expansion before most people by ordering it online, instead of waiting to get to a local store and buying it. Buying the games in a store is good if you were want to purchase the game with bonus pack, or collector's edition, and for older chapters, they can be alot cheaper to buy in a store. But yeah, I am sure most people use the GW store. It would be nice to see prices be similar to the ones you would see in retail stores, especially for older chapters like Prophecies and Factions, and even EoTN since it is kind of a small expansion

Becuase they screwed me over already.
I got GWEN pre release online to play and planned to get GWEN through the store as well so i can also get my bonus mission pack.
When GWEN came out, i was unable to buy it. so i had to go to the store and buy. Meaning, i lost out on the bonus mission pack, and the money i spent on the pre-release that was supposed to be discounted twaords full game was also lost.
After a few back and forths with support, they said the IP adress was blocked since i was the 4th person at that location to buy the game. and even though i explianed my situation, they kindly told me "to bad" and were not going to remedy this. They never even directly asnwered my questions.
Yea... so i see where the flame at CS comes from.

I used it to get what I wanted:
- 3 character slots.
- Million Edition update.
- PvP Item unlock pack.
Everything else I got in in stores.
I'd like to see more packs and update packs.
For example, the Prophecies collector gave a different bonus item depending on region, and there were some bonus items in some countries that others will never be able to get.
They should make an update pack to fix that and let everyone get any key.

Trade Law is very complicated, and any misstakes can be very expensive.

out of all the posts, only a few, such as this one, get it right.
most posts here: anet should lower the price and then i'll use the on-line store
correct answer: anet cannot do that or risk breaking any contracts they have with retailers.

I purchased Factions for $18.99 and Nightfall for $20.99 on Amazon.com. I checked the prices of the online store first and laughed that they were charging release cost for digital copies when I could pay less than half for a hard copy with a box from Amazon.

i dont know if this as been brought up but one of the main reasons the price for things is so high is because anet/nsoft make deals with certain retailers for certain areas.
also if they added the merchandise that they have at the website like the sweaters and stuff like that to the in game store i think they would get a lot more use out of it.

I'd use the ingame store if they sold ways to gain extra storage space without resorting to creating mule characters.

I use the store. Anet can't offer the same discounts as "real" stores because retailers would see it as Anet attempting to undercut them. It's one of the fundamental problems with a mixed online/brick and mortar sales system.

1. The store itself is a complete mess -- very limited payment options, remember the fake multiple charges a while back? That was a fun one for Gaile to sort out. It's just not up to modern standards.
2. Not secure.
3. I prefer to have a CD and a box.

Actual all the campaigns are 20-30 bucks at walmart, eotn is 30-40.
plus buying the box in a store lets you have the booklet, map, extra goodies plus the cd key on paper, plus the game cd. so you can install it on other pc;s, and never have to worry about losing anything if you keep it all in the box after install.
With the amount of problems I'v heard of dealing with the bonus map pack I'm not suprised less people use the store. I don't have a credit card myself or I might have bough the mission pack and 2-4 character slots.
I think ncsoft should release a package deal, the bonus mission pack + character slots in the stores so those of us who dont buy online can get them.

You can already download the GW client from Guildwars.com. That's what I did when I was too lazy to find my GW CD after reformatting my laptop once I got my desktop (Which I also used the downloaded client for).

and if anything ever happens to gw's online data records and everything is wiped out or lost? that leaves a lot of people screwed. I don't know how it works but depending on online data/computer data is scarier than having the info in a box in my closet. I hope there is a fail safe way to keep records for the players purchases. But you never know what can happen til it does.

Part of it now is also the fact that the promotion they ran for the BMP to promote using the ingame store turned out to be complete BS and there are a lot of us who are now refusing to ever use the ingame store again.

"Expand you wo... Storage with character slots!"
Bought 2 character slots from the online store. Until they offer additional storage tabs in the store I just don't have much use for it.

Same here. The only thing I'd be interested in is an "upgrade to CE" option. I want my Prophecies necro to piss green ooze.
