Yeah I rather have a game where the leveling is the game, along with the story (both go intertwined) rather than where the game starts after level 20, introducing you to a world with a little bit more story, farming and title grinding. No thanks don't want that again!

Well I suppose Guild Wars has a decent amount of after 20 play. Dungeons and quests you can do and what not. I'd like more content though that was actually fun/not useless to do. (talking about the quests here).

I think there should be a Cap on Attributes or how powerful you can become certainly. Lets say level 80 is as powerful as you can be but you can reach level 81 and so on. So if you see a Level 300 and a Level 80 you will know they are at the same power level but level 300 would simply have more exp.

Eww...months to hit max level? nty. I don't want a really small level cap but I don't wan't to spend months on one character so he can hit max lv. I enjoy having multiple characters for different experiences and gameplay, a high level cap that takes months to hit would totally ruin this aspect of the game. And considering how gw groups like to leave certain professions out I like having multiple characters.

Level caps help to eliminate a lot of elitism that occurs in a lot of MMO's. With the 20lvl cap in GW now, i can level a character in a few hours and concentrate of having fun and strategy, as opposed to hundreds more hours of killing stuff. Keeping that in GW2 is important.

I want to keep a low, easily reachable level cap, but lets take this one step further:

No more Levels

Levels are just a way to say 'ok, here is an easy part of the game'. In other MMO's levels are designed to define your character's strength. But guild wars isn't supposed to be about your character's strength, its supposed to be about your skill and your build strength. So instead have the advancement be based around aquireing skills, as if the many skill quests in prophecies were the way to advance your character. Lets face it, there is no real reason for someone to magically have 3x as much health then another character. Start everyone off as the equivalent of GW1 level 20 characters, fighting the same level 20 characters in pre searing. As you advance through the game, an arbitrary 'level' of the enemy isn't increasing, instead they are given better builds and more creative groups.

Of course, this will never happen. 95% of the current guild wars population has given the stamp of approval to grind through their love of pve titles. Not to mention the whole idea of making smart enemies with good builds is infinitely harder then bumping up their level every area.

Im totally fine with the lvl 20 cap. But I do not want to see a new capped lvl that takes forever to get to. Was a smart move for GW to cap at 20 in the first place to have the game rely on the skills rather than the higher lvl.

I don't care about how high or low the level cap is, but the time it takes to reach it. No grindfest, please!

Yeah I won't mind a level 20 cap as long as I can see my level still (or stop gaining XP) and as long as the game actually puts skill over time, unlike Guild Wars. Upping the AI might help that a tiny bit ya know like mobs not sitting there shooting through the wall but being smart (like in WoW/LOTRO) and going around the wall to shoot you!

What if the new leveling system had its peak, at lets say 50, then every succeeding 10 levels corresponds to a title.

ex.
50- Max Char stats.

After 50, no benefits besides titles
60- maximus addictus
70- No Vivo
80- At homus no lifus

This would allow any level 50 to compete with the highest level (ex 300) on equal footing.

Low level cap is what made this game great.

As probably mentioned somewhere in the thread, not having a level cap, even if it provides no advantage, is going to turn party formation in PvE into a HA /rank style affair.
How about we just have a level cap of 1?

As long as we can't reach the level cap in a day, like we could in Factions, I'd not be bothered either way. I mean, everything has to come to an end, so I think a level cap would be better for the game.

I think the best way to instill a high level cap is to have a low stat cap. Even if, as some have suggested, the benefits of leveling became progressively smaller, people still will demand you to be max level. Take R10 Ursan, for instance, not a whole lot different between 8 and 10 (or 5 and 10 for that matter), yet people still demand "R10 Ursan" anyway. So low stat cap (40 or so is a good number), and you can keep going on to infinity for all I care.

Do you read these forums at all? Do you know how many Ursan haters are out there? Too many to count...

Yes, there needs to be SOME kind of cap...

I never even liked the increased levels to begin with. Making them grow exponentially larger with no break off point is rediculous

And ANet can read the server logs and skill use charts. Very few players even read these forums, and fewer still post on them. Judging by the in-game PuG spam alone, the number of Ursan players grows larger by the second.

I like the level 20 cap in GW. I'm not too thrilled with raising it to infinity and beyond, but it sounds like they will implement diminishing returns for higher levels to the point where no benefit beyond a +1 level is gained. I'm OK with that.

Here's what I think Anet is expecting their cap (or lack thereof) to be like for their players:

1. You're level 80. Although you have little to no advantage over another player at level 20, others can see that you more than likely know what you're doing.
2. Whether or not you play x amount of hours, reaching high level is certainly an accomplishment and it's nice to have something to show for it. It's no different than having maxed out a title.

Some people don't like the grind, but others really enjoy working to achieve a title. If this makes people happy, more power to them. I fail to see how this idea will take the skill out of the game. It's a number.

As for the people that want slow leveling to an insane number, that would deny casual gamers with little time to play the chance to experiment, and although some people stick to one character or have hours to play, others like the chance to try out different professions without punishment. I think Anet would lose the base of players that they are trying to appeal to.

So, no level cap, but rather... a health cap? Bonus cap? Benefit cap? I don't know how you'd call it. Level yourself to infinity for all I care, your character and my character will still have the same max health.
This.

In GW 1 all I have to show for how much exp I've gained is hundreds of skill points I'm not using. It'd be nice if you got up to like level 20~50, and then the stat/health gain per level were so negligible it may as well be zero.
