It does annoy me a little. People with names like those have a tendency to be retards, thus i judge them to be retards.

People should use any name they like, as long as it's not rude, offending or racist etc.
My personal opinion:
-names with X name here X or O name here O or Ill blah Ill are lazy and bad
-names with Naruto (assa), Legolas (Ranger), Conan (War) or other familiar names are unoriginal and boring. I've seen a million Naruto's and Legoli already. Try something more original. Existing names are ok, but not these.
-novelty names are okay as long as you're at least a bit original.
I've used names in my dialect, which I think are pretty funny. I've also used RP names on a few characters.

Whoa. In less than like 10 hours i got 91 responses
And yes, I will say, I am fine with some novelty names. I was just a bit annoyed when i was in a group with 3 people who all had alternatives to "Naruto", so i made this topic. Xx Xx, Il Il, and names that said something like "I will beat you" were also beggining to bug me
And as response to that one dude who was commenting on annoying asian names, Yuki means snow in japanese, and hiro is a common name ending. I named him so because i planned on giving him all white armor, which i did. I also gave him a white tiger. Chigusa is just a tribute to my favorite person from "Battle Royale"

They actually sound like half decent RP names lol.
And the OP isn't alone I don't particularly like XX etc XX names or fantasy/ scifi variants but it is a part of playing online and you deal with it.

Those are not real people.
They are filler bots inserted by ANet to make the game look more lively.

Some of the guild ones are just as funny, I kept seeing Welcome to pvp [NeWb] a few weeks ago while adventuring.

I believe there's someone who posts on this forum, with a character called Duck Duck Monk. I loved that name. If I find them amusing, they're great, but a lot of the time they can just be obnoxious.
I can't count how many times I've seen Warriors with Warrior, sword or terminator in their names, most of the time spelled horribly wrong. Usually along the lines of "Sowrd Terminater Worrior" I don't know if the spelling is intentional, to get a name someone already has.. but if someone has the name, it's probably because it's not original enough.

I don't find them annoying, I just ignore them and move on with the game. The joys of not spending much time in towns.

Personally, I currently use insulting descriptive names for my characters in Prophecies - but translated into Esperanto (got an Esp->Eng dictionary on the bookshelf). My main character (Stulta Militisto) is a Stupid Warrior, for example, and my last Mesmer was a Rotten Illusionist (Putra Iluziisto), and my first Ranger was a Useless Woodsman (Senutila Arbohakisto). I've actually gotten compliments on how realistic and original (in comparison to 90% of the characters in the game, anyways ) some of my names are, even before I spill on their creation.
However, when I get Factions, my Canthan characters will all have Chinese- and Japanese-like names (in those cases that I don't just grab real given and family names and combine them), and my Elonians will appropriately have African- and Middle Eastern-sounding names.

Along with many here, I think anything with X X or Oo Oo shows a lack of originality.
My first character Hugh was perhaps a mistake but I stuck with it.
My mesmer Walt Effour was created after I fell for the "Hey guys press Alt F4 for a morale boost" my first time in HA

Ignorant White Man, please refrain from such stupid comments. To the OP, I think originality is okay, but I do think that some people don't really make an attempt.

I don't really get annoyed by names quickly.. though I do sigh when I see so many people with Japanese sounding names.

Well, my characters are named after:
Simpsons character "Duffman"
The band "Misfits"
My kids' names
Generic paragon name
A song by Death Angel
The killer from the first Friday the 13th movie
A generic term for a serial killer
Generic Luxon-sounding name
and... Parson Brown comes from the song "Winter Wonderland!"
So I guess I'm OK with novelty names.
