I'll have it here on Day 1 if possible. As was said earlier up, it's gonna cost me what, £50? I have thoroughly enjoyed GW1, even if a lot of things depress me nowadays, so I'll be wanting to give it a go, and if I like it, I don't want to regret being a few months behind. Someone has to pass back the recommendations, after all ;-p
I can definitely see why people with a lot of time invested elsewhere or a very small amount of money available to spend on gaming would sit on the fence. Also people who feel utterly disillusioned with the company; another fair reason not to intend to buy. Glad I don't feel quite like that, though.

Guild Wars 3: The world is in turmoil yet again. 350 years after the events that took place when the descendants of the legendary heroes of Tyria lived up to their ancestors fame and saved the world yet again from the awakened dragons and their minions, the Titans have returned.
Those legendary beings that had given life to the ancient dragons and at whose mention even Balthazar trembles with fear are now back in Tyria to reclaim it and reshape it in their own fashion.
Join us again as the descendants of the descendants of the legendary heroes strive to keep the world peace and indeed keep the world in one piece.
I think.. no thanks I will pass this time :P

Yeah, I am leaning so far away right now from a new gaming PC with Vista that its SO unlikely I'll be in GW2. I hate Microsoft with a passion. Just had an older PC around that happened to be able to run GW with minimal modifications, so I did it, and was happy using it just to play GW. Buying a new machine with higher specs and Vista just to play a game, is probably not happening for me.

Yep, if I'm still alive when it finally comes up on release then I'll be pre-ordering the CE. I have the CE for each GW campaign, GW:EotN, BMP, whatever that thing was called that unlocked a few additional /bonus weapons, several additional character slots, well over 5k hours... What I'm saying is that GW was good enough to spend all that money on and be my sole game for so many hours that I can't imagine that a bigger/better GW2 won't also be worth my investment.
GW was/is an excellent game. It is on the tail end of it's lifespan and not being worked on as an evolving game would be, so I won't make my decision regarding GW2 because of what's happening to it's predecessor. GW2 will be even more excellent than the first. I'm sure of it. ANet has gotten a lot of grief from we players over the years, but to be honest, when they're focused on their content we're currently playing, they're pretty good at keeping a tight ship (comparitively speaking).

Ha, all those that say that they won't purchase it amuse me, they are lieing to themselves, they know they are, we know know they are, there really is no point to it, if they weren't going to buy GW2 do you think they will be playing GW1? They are saying 'no' on principal, because they feel that they have been let down by Anet, Anet have put them through so much hassle and that guild wars 1 completely sucks (even though they regularly post on Guild Wars forums and play on Guild Wars) and Anet somehow owe them something even though they have probably play 1000+ hours, that they are no going to play GW2, most probably in spite because they haven't seen Regina enough or some stupid reason like that. They know that they are going to buy it, their principals say no but after a week of oit's releae they will succumb to their urges and buy it.

Will I buy it? Yes.
Why? Because after 3 years I've probably done a little bit of everything in GW1, and the last year before GW2 will hopefully give me enough time to finish everything I've started.

I find your reasoning humorous because everything before level 20 is basically a tutorial rather than the actual game. Maybe you're simply in the wrong guild if getting to level 20 is "the purpose" of playing GW.
My guild had been looking for alliances and I personally was very surprised how many large active guilds are actually led by people who have not yet caught onto the game. I would imagine if one was stuck in a guild like this, one might think they had the best experience GW had to offer...but in reality they would be missing out on 90% of the real GW experience!
IMO, there are not enough things to do before level 20. GW2 will likely change that.

There are quite a few other games coming out. Not everyone is addicted to the Guild Wars franchise and can't bear to play anything else.

Well apparently 75% of the Guru Community who have voted disagree with you. There are enough satisfied GW players who will continue on to the next game.

Last I checked, 75% isn't everyone. So when he said "not everyone is addicted blah blah blah", he meant...not...everyone.
What was the point of your post, besides making yourself look stupid?

However, it will be a deal-breaker if its not up to standards. I may not agree with a lot of the development decisions as of late with GW1, but keep in mind that these are the same devs who originally made the game I fell in love with and devoted 2000+ hours of my life to. I still trust them, but if they cheat me out another $50, then I'm out and never looking back.
|
You took the words out of my mouth. But I figure I will be spending about $90 for the collector's edition.
If GW2 starts where GW is now, I have been cheated.

First let Avarre defend his position, he is more than able to do so. I corrected my post as I did not state it correctly in the post, my apologies.

I don't intend to buy the game, because it seems to be going in the direction of a traditional MMO.

I for one will be buying it without hesitation unless by some odd chance the beta completely blows chunks. In over 20 years of playing computer games, I can't think of a single game I have enjoyed for more hours over such a long time frame.
I realize some people (a lot actually) have been disappointed for one reason or another with the direction ANet has taken GW1. I can't say I've always been pleased with each decision either. However, unlike many others, I have yet to let the changes get under my skin and take away from my enjoyment of the game.
I play basically the same way today as I did 3 years ago.. Granted I use heroes, and a few pve skills.. I don't use Ursan and very very rarely use a consumable. So other than my suped up henchmen, my play experience hasn't changed much.
For me GW2, looks to be a lot of the same things I enjoy as well as many new and different things to be learned and enjoyed. I'll be pre-ordering or be waiting in line the day it comes out.

Absolutely yes!
I have over 2000+ hours logged on GuildWars, and the majority of it has been extremely fun. I will buy GuildWars2 because I enjoy the lore of the game alot, the whole Ancient Dragons thing is really impressive, and I can't wait to battle them.
I disagree with it becoming a WoW clone, because as some have already said, some aspects of WoW being implemented into GuildWars2 would increase its enjoyment value tenfold.
In conclusion, yes I am buying GuildWars2 (hopefully CE) and I know I will enjoy it, the storyline is what is important in a roleplaying game, and that's why I love GuildWars and hopefully love GuildWars2.
I have 100% faith in ArenaNet, and their speedy support!

The issues that will influence whether or not I buy gw2 have to do with how GW1 has gone in its later stages. Specifically these things:
1. My main is a Dervish and I find all classes enjoyable. If ANY class is cut-out or shortchanged in gw2, I will probably not buy it.
2. Balance. I want all classes to be viable, have relatively equal skill amounts, and be equally potent in their own areas.
3. Race benefits. I do NOT want to be pressured to choose to be a certain race to get the certain benefits for a class. I should be able to make an Asuran dervish that has different but equal potency to a Char Dervish. In addition, i do not want race to restrict what class you can choose. All races should be able to act as all classes. Period.

Only if the game gets good reviews or I receive recommendations from friends. I don't buy games based on the franchise name, and Guild Wars is no exception.
