The word pity comes to mind when I see threads like this.
People who are concerned must have spent inordinate amounts of time accumulating their virtual wealth.
Once the game goes offline, I would hope that these same people re-evaluate what is important to them in life.

I'd rather invest in FoW Scrolls, Ecto's can be aquired in tombs too, *if* favor where to run out for a long time, shards would be unavailable.
Not that i'm gonna invest in anything, i get my K's and spend em the next second.

I do farm UW, not excessively I admit, but I don't see a vast quantity of scrolls dropping myself. I see more FoW scrolls drop than UW. No doubt there are people sat on piles of them though.
I am starting to think that come the disappearance of perma-favor that UW and FoW will be more likely to be available during those times that the U.S. plays but I still doubt that we will see it available for 'most of the time'. This is because favor has dropped pretty swiftly of late and I believe that farmers will be sat at ToA (or wherever) waiting for someone else to grant them a 3 minute window to get in. I live in Europe and see the potential for plenty of QQing threads when only the U.S., as the majority of GW players, a gifted access to these areas when we're all asleep
Over time, there can only be less favor as the finite number of players finish the titles that they can be bothered with. I doubt the number of new players is sufficiently high enough to keep the number of achievements at anything like the current level, let alone what it used to be.
This will return these 2 elite areas to the original idea of being 'reward based content' and more exclusive. And thus less-farmed. People finishing a run will not be able to just rinse-and-repeat until the next title gets maxed. So hang on to your ectos as the supply will slow down in my opinion.
(caveat: Unless ANet nerf UW and FoW access to appease the masses at some later date.)

Favor is granted for 1 hour after 20 titles are maxed in the game, it's extended by 3 minutes if a title is maxed while we have favor. So after favor runs out, 20 maxed titles and we get another hour.

i think your thread title is an inadequate representation of the point of this thread, and i get the feeling i'd disagree with you if the discussion were about certain other things but...
spend it on what you want to spend it on. nobody on this forum can tell you what you want better than yourself.

This isn't a toal QQ post, but look at it for a second. He's concerned and sad... over what? nothing, that's what! "Should i keep ectos convert to plats. buy ultra high end items? spend on consumables?" That's it... plats, ultra high end items, and consumables. This is what I'm talking about. I kept trying to tell people that's all there is to buy and you don't even need those things at all. Consumables if you love those titles and everyone knows how important titles are to people. I suggest converting to platinum and go fill your HoM if you feel it's necessary.

Using materials as money is fine, but it seems that some ppl forgot about the fact that those are not stable in price. Ecto's used to be like 8k for a long time, together with Rubies and Sapphires. I've even seen ecto's go for 13k.
But the main rule is that any material goes down in price over time. Ecto's, rubies, lockpicks, amber, titan gemstones, armbraces, greens and minipets. Anything.
So investing in materials that you don't need is simply stupid. As long as I've played this game only money has kept it's value. So keep your money as long as you can and only buy materials if you really need them. If you want to do a >100k transaction, buy ecto's/lockpicks/whatever but not more than you need for the transaction.

buy lockpicks or popular r7 weapons i.e. swords, axe, hammer, perfect shield (not -2-2 or -2-3 but like +30-2).

I don't get why ANet would nerf Shadow Form. When they buffed it, they must have known you would be able to keep it up constantly. I think they even buffed it for that reason... Maybe to get more players to buy Factions or something.
Why would they nerf it now that people are using SF farm builds? It's not like ectos HAVE to be worth a lot, as many people seem to think. I know the skill is retardedly broken in PvE, but why would they care about that? I mean, they buffed Ether Renewal, and have yet to nerf Ursan. They are probably never going to nerf anything just for PvE, for the simple reason the skills are not being used AGAINST you.

I believe he said that because its sad hes concerned over manopoly money.
Also SF has always been a farm skill, tbh no one uses it outside of some type of farm. Anet knew what they were doing when they buffed SF. I see it an attempt to ease the trouble of filling our HoMs.
