I've played pvp for a long while, got my r8 hero for the hall and said goodbye to HA. That was when 6v6 was still on, and 8v8 got introduced back into the game. Most people's attitude in that place is terrible ~.~
I did some gvg but i can't really play in top400, since i'm not able to use a mic efficiently

That's my point, why do Sorrrows or Last Day Dawns? Skins are farmed out, golds not inscribable and worthless, and it doesn't add up to titles - the most important thing in GW right now by ANet (not me) - so there's not much fun doing it, is there?
And omg no, playing through all chapters with all 10 professions. I'm not a masochist

That's not the point of this thread. This has grown into a general problem regarding the game. It's getting worse than korean grinders as time goes, the content that GW was so great for is getting forgotten due to poor decisions about what should the goals be in the game - what should be tracked and rewarded, and what would be worth doing.

What happens when U take out the multiplayer? Yeah, you got basic RPG. And if you want that, you're better off with Fable or Oblivion.

Nah, it's actually a CORPG. Either way, heroes actually saved me from all the bad PuGs.
But before heroes, I can admit to it being a 50/50 between a bad pug and a good pug. If it were a 25/75 split, it wouldn't be heroes to blame in alot of peoples minds. The reason why heroes "took over" is because of the huge chance of bad PuGs.
Overall, this game in my opinion still has the best PvP gametype I've ever seen out of ANY online game that's an RPG. Even now at it's downfall point.
Although this game would have been one huge breakthrough, I believe Anet blew it from Factions onward. Grind (Yes, small but it counts) needed to continue into the story, and new professions, aswell as mechanics came into play. Shadowstepping being used makes positioning redundant, as you're at one end of the guy's aggro bubble, then you're at him, or with Return, you're away from him. The main part on Rits now is Ancestors' and Splinter Weapon.
Then came Nightfall, and with it the power creep. Scythes, spears, Paragons, Dervs, and all those stupid skills that had to be hit.
GW:EN, killed all build construction by introducing a new skill, Ursan (Along with Volfen and Raven) Blessing.
In a nutshell, this game has gone downhill.

I guess my take is that it's just a game and nothing lasts forever. If you've done everything there is to do and it's not fun anymore then it's probably best to move on and/or wait for GW2. I have my moments where I get bored with it and don't play for awhile, and then I just get a spurt of energy and get back on to go grind for something, title, money etc.

Reason why I left the game a long time ago. I used to log on and just stand around not knowing what else to do.

It's called hitting the wall, you reach a point were it is no longer fun or rewarding to play. I hit it about 2 weeks ago. Logging in day after day to do the same thing over and over for my HoM, just no longer fun. Took the chance and rolled with another MMORPG, having fun so far, checking back to see when we will get a tiny glimpse of GW2, hope they get it togethor soon.

No new content = a lot of us playing other stuff. Will we come back? Nobody knows, and that seems to be a pretty big risk to take. The weekend events have been pretty lame, too, so not much incentive there (double Aspenwood? double tournament points? talk about limited appeal.).
I might even settle for some fan-made content at this point. There's just nothing new.

Why the hell do you people play this game anymore? You constantly hack on it and hate it to pieces. DONT PLAY IT ANYMORE THEN, move on to another game if you really hate it that much. You have gotten far more value out of the game than what it costed you.

Without criticism and a playerbase a game cannot improve or maintain it's playerbase. Especially when the game has abandoned a major part of itself.

It's a game. A distraction from RL. I play when I feel like it and if I dont feel like it I find something else to do, like making useless posts on Guru.

@super strokey: Because there just isn't anything else out there at the moment that's as good as GW. Look at all the boomerangers.
Although this can seem to currently be good for Anet, I think GW2 will also be casualty of its previous successes.

The challenge is there you probably just stick to the same o ways of defeating everything.
Same group dynamics kills the fun of this game (searing flame setup/necro resto healer and minion factory setup / usan etc…) or you following the norm
You need to challenge yourself.
PUG the whole game… Random PUG from the beginning on
Start from scratch and do it again with one character use only skills you never used before.
Use only heroes you never used before run Koss as a Sin for fun or dunkoro as a mesmer
I posted this before and I have fun doing it from time to time… Start from scratch a new character and do not access storage and only use primary only skills. Buy armor if you can afford it only (no access to gold in storage) Use weapons found on the way.

I've been playing gw almost since its came out, and I've never been at a loss to find something to do. But maybe its because of my lack of interest in the content, I havn't watched any of the cut scenes after GoK, I've never watched any in factions, nf, or gwen either, the only time i've ever played with gw sound on was when i was FIRST playing.
I also strongly disagree with the hero comment, heros were the best thing they introduced into the game. When people suck, and henchmen suck, you wish you can make bars for the henchmen, theres nothing more frusterating that trying to play with some goof and i know alot of people would agree with me. Pugs suck almost 100% of the time, heros own almost 100% of the time.

If you're playing the game for anything but "having fun", you might want to re-evaluate why you are playing the game. Sounds like you might be ready to take a break if all of the alternative "rewards" in the game are jading you.

I remember most PUGS I had. They were fun. Yeah, we ALL got pissed off that we had that one Wammo who decided to monk, because it is clearly ALOT better than a real monk, because he can't die...
But it's that exact thing that puts feelings into the game. You are actually pissed-off. Humans are social beings by nature. Ok, we're playing a game, and most of us leave the basement once a month, but still... You ARE in fact playing with other ACTUAL people. It's that what makes MMO's so fun, the fact that U CAN show off your e-peen, the fact that U CAN be pissed-off at other people, ...
Olias doesn't care if you fcuk up. Master of Whispers doesn't cry when your party whiped after a 3 hour vanquish. They ARN'T REAL. Pugs are...
Yes, I "herowayed" alot in PvE, but whenever I had the chance to take a real life person for a Vanquish, I'dd gladly kick a hero, for the pug (with whatever random bar he has). In another thread, I explain how good leadership can be the succes of a pug. Well, I myself (when I pug), I get 1 thing clear with the other people, and that is that they won't rage and/or do acts out of rage. (Screw up the vanquish because some guy over-aggrood)
|
Right on the head. It's where you've hit the nail.
