Just to clarify myself, I've suggested that they will do it, not that they should do it

The most important reason for that is quite simple. There are five races, and if you had to design every armor set for every race and every profession, the amount of work would be huge.

Another reason is related to a yet unconfirmed feature that I've also suggested, i.e., that players will have the ability to change the primary profession (or class) of their characters just like they can their secondary now - the reason for that also lies in the introduction of races.

Eh, not really. Most of the time it's just reshaping the body parts. NWN is a good example of it, and it didn't look sloppy (though nowadays it does look heavily dated).

All in all, it depends on how diverse each race is and how hardcore ANet wants to be in terms of detail.

You realize that Neverwinter Nights doesn't have class-specific armor?

The switchable profession speculation thing, taken together with the companions, makes me speculate that there won't be secondary professions. Guild Wars is full of nerfs to keep the secondary-as-primary from dominating PvP (soul-reaping heals, fast cast spikes, distortion rangers, gale warriors, changing expertise to stop R/P shouters), the job just becomes so much easier by eliminating secondaries that you never wanted to be a major part of the templates anyway.

Also, races again replace the concept. Notice all the EotN skills aren't bound to class... but rather each associated with a race? (Humans, Dwarves, Asura, Norn). Welcome to GW2's PvE (and maybe Mist Battle) skillset...

back onto topic, I like the idea (or at least what I gather from this and previous interviews/info) that the Norn will have a bear form meaning that other races may also have their own special stuff like that

I also wonder how it works when you start the game as say a Charr, a human might start in LA or whatever they call it now, while a Charr may start in Ascalon.

Hope they release info on that soon but even tiny new bits of info is better than nothing

I was thinking the same exact thing, it would fit with the story but might make it difficult to party at first with friends.

true but in a game with difference races that have a different homeland (norn in the north, charr in ascalon, etc) then there is not much choice but it does encourage you to play the story (unless it's the same as when prophecies came out and you could get runs unlike in NF and factions)

Well a newbie area per race is very common in MMORPGS.

You dont get to really party with your other friends till you get out of Pre/ShingJea/Istan

It's good that it would encourage you to play the story (god knows something like only 1/4 of the GW player base actually knows the story.) but the other thing I'm afraid of is that it would create more of what we saw in Factions with the Kuzick/Luxon split.

More detailed than last time they offered information. Starts sounding like something I might play in future.

Is there any more news on the amount of levels? I know it has no subscription fee but I do not want to feel like a grinding free game. GW spoiled me

Hard to tell without a better translation but I do not think there is any new info regarding this.

Something just struck me as extremely odd here. Regina is the CR team leader for the US - or so I understand. She has been fielding the most incredible amount of flak over lack of GW2 info from both Euro and US communities.

TODAY?? she is informed about the article that is published TODAY??

So the "higher up" knew about this for a long time - we all know how far ahead these magazine issues are put to bed - and never saw fit to inform their own Community Relations before publication date (even for their own peace of mind)???

Nice one!

I'm not seeing the problem here, sorry.

The article came out today, we found out about it today. What's the issue?

ummm just keeping your own staff informed? Letting your CR have some form of knowledge about what information is going to be released in the future? For her sake at least, peace of mind that this kind of info is going to be released in the near future? I don't know - how about employee relations?

But don't concern yourself, it was just that I found it odd. You don't need to feel the same way at all.

And the interview is published in an German Magazine, there is nothing the US rep needs to know about that until it gets published in the USA.
(Germany is not a US colony)
