If only half of GWGers understood, it would change forever what this forum is. One of the deepest statement of facts about GW, its diversity and richness. But it's very easy to look only in one direction and not see the other ones (not meaning that you do PvP and not PvE, but rather that you want more of one aspect of the game at the expense of another than someone else prefers).

I believe I am one of the few people that find armor/weapons that look good on their character, rather then what is most expensive.
besides caster weapons, I haven't seen one that actually looks good.

Guild Wars, its all about being the best.
Everything that the op listed are the very reasons that GW was great. The difference between any two characters was sitting between the chair and the keyboard.

The "prettier" and more "expensive" you are, the more ugly you are.

I get my kicks out of dressing up my characters in pretty expensive armor. I guess I like shiny things! (I happen to love voltaic spear skin, and I think the amethyst aegis is gorgeous, and couldn't care less if other people like it or not. )

I miss my newb days on this game, I really do...
To me, your skill matters so much more than your armor. I'm an old-school player, I've stuck with the "skill > time" mentality for regular groups; your armor doesn't mean ****, no matter what it is... your skill will.
So even if you're a bad player with FoW, you remain a bad player.
But I admit that I like kicking butt in style. So woot for armor and weapon skins .

I agree with Joshthor.
I like the loot to be largely cosmetic.
Thats why I play GW, it's different and you don't (deliberate ignoring of PvE skills here) have huge power or loot tier segregation between new players and one's that play 40+ hours a week.
If you want that go elsewhere, theres more than a few other games that will cater to your needs if you want to grind and farm out a million gold to get the "uber sword of teh fire demonz!!11!!" that kills everything in one hit only those playing 24/7 can attain.
GW is GW and the amount of people here trying to change it into what 99% of the market is already doing is beginning to get aggravating.
It's mechanics like aesthetically "high-end" loot that make GW such a cool game yet all I hear lately is more and more crappy ideas about titles, having a huge level cap and QQing about the economy making it easier for casual players to access cool gear.
Rather than trying to change the game into something it is'nt why not play a different game and leave GW be?
Seriously.

Can't say I agree with the OP. GW takes most if not all of the emphasis on gear and instead puts it on the gameplay. ANet would rather you be concerned with your skillbar then your high-end loot.
It's good to know that you're only good because you're good, not because of the time you spent boosting those stats or the leet gear you have.
Granted, I do love traditional RPGs and the feeling of picking up an awesome weapon. But if I wanted that, I wouldn't play Guild Wars.

I hope by good you don't mean Monk Obsidian dyed black w/ Voltaic Spear, Mask of The Mo Zing, and Chaos Gloves. If you meant a normal 15k set or even 1k set then that's good. I really don't mind 1k armor sets, but I usually upgrade to 15k if I really like my character eventually because I rather be known that I'm a PvE character and not a PvP character.

Agreed.
I always love when that FoW tank kamikazes into a group, and turns around to blame the monk for not healing. The people that are just out for looks and titles are often the ones that really don't know how to play the game. (No offense to anyone, of course. :P) Sure, they know how to do a few things (namely the ones that make the most money), but that's it. Put them in a team of so-so players, and they have no idea how to deal with it.
This is not to say people that have played through the game and have nothing else to do shouldn't spend time trying to get nice things. But, you'll know who they are (most of the time). The "elitists" are the ones that constantly bitch and moan about something not being exactly right in regards to what they're used to.

Today... It's all about looking pretty and getting minipets... Something with no residual purpose to this game but to boast and to have it accommodate your character to further more, make it look pretty!

Isn't the same now, to boast about what you have.

GW is a casual game, It is not meant to be hard for characters to get max/perfect weapons/gear. Games get old/stale it happens to them all. Nothing is stopping you from doing 5 man furnace runs, exploring.

I have been around for over two years. Started Prophecies around the time Factions came out. My necro has 16 max titles so far and beat all campaings. I regulary play a rit, Monk, Ele and Para which is why I am not chasing R6 KOABD...but I digress..
Last night I was doing THK with my Ele and one of the officers of my guild. I usually hero/hench missions, but she needed help. She had been working on THK all day with pugs and could not beat it. To be clear, This is not meant to be an "i'm so leet" post.
My point is that there are all types of skill levels in the game. THe officer I was playing with is older. She has a son in his late teens. I myslef play to get away from my M-F job and the kids. I like to log on find cool skins/armors and enjoy my experience. I want to be able to play the game. I like easy, I like mindless, becasue in the two hours I can play per night, I want to be able to accomplish something.
But yes, a lot of my old frineds who had the time are now out of GW.for Anet to besucessful it needs a balance of old farts playing for a long time balanced with experienced players who mater the game early.
I feel GW2 will run ito the same thing as long as they stay with the pay one price model
