What I don't get, is why people think Tengu are from ONLY Cantha.
Caromi Tengu, Avicara Tengu, Quetzal Tengu.
I'd also like to tell you that there was Tengu concept arts for Nightfall.
A MAJORITY of the Tengu are in Tyria, and game wise, they are in 3/4 and were planned to be in the one they are not.
And they do deserve to be playable in GW2. I was and still am hoping to play as one.

I believe that the developers in the magazines said that all the races haven't been verified.
Humans, Slyvari, Charr, Norn, Dwarf, Asuran were the ones they named off. Tengu better be added. Mursaat too, mebbe?

Whilst one can indeed make an argument that Tengu are widespread enough to merit being a playable race in GW2 - I seriously doubt that there are that many people that want to play a race that looks like an oversized and diseased chicken. :/

I bet that characters will have 'Spiritual' bodies in PvP, so the racial differences would be nonexistant there, otherwise it would be illogical.
And for PvE, the logicall think to do would be to allow characters of each race to learn any primary profession, so you would only need to make one character of each race to be able to have all races and all characters, and if you want to try a Warrior, you could be able to try it with any race.
On top of that, the racial changes could be focused to properties of skills instead of gameplay styles, so Norn could be harder to interrupt, Asura could use less energy, Charr could have a bit more range, etc...

Uh, more than you'd think. I'm fairly sure tengu are the most-requested race for GW2, although the Mursaat are pretty close behind.

Who wouldn't want to play a Tengu. Do you really want to wait 2 years after the first GW2 game before rolling (re-rolling) your tengu fighter?

Tengu only serve as enemies in Prophecies. Factions actually gave them a bigger part. And from that part we learnt they do not take no sh*t when it comes to Humans treating them as a lower species. So putting the GW2 lore article on Cantha and the current Tengu attitude together its obvious Anet are setting up the way for an expansion with it adding the Tengu as a playable race instead of more broken professions.

What? You don't want to see an Asuran Hammer Tank bashing away at the ankles of a Norn Monk?
Tengu might be cool to play as long as they no longer run like a little kid pretending to be an airplane...GIVE IT UP ALREADY! Your wings are too small, live with it...sheesh.
As for a wish on playable races...Mursaat and Jade Armors, not so much. I'd prefer the Forgotten...ssssssssssss.

I think they'll add them in an expansion. Probably just not putting all their eggs in one basket.

Maybe gw2 will introduce extra playable races in sequel games instead of classes.
There were always problems with adding new classes then balancing and rebalancing skills.
With Factions creating 2 new classes and adding skills to the original 6 classes then NF having to repeat the excercise but for 8 classes.
New races with small alterations to the skill system might be a way to add variety without the bad effect a couple of new classes had.
Of have the powers that be already commented on new classes being added to gw2 over time ?

There are fungal wallow henchmen too, but no one seems to want to play those.
Personally, I have no particular desire to play as a Tengu. Yes, I would much rather play as an Asura or Sylvari (Norn and Charr..... not so much), but I'll probably just stick with humans.
