Funny thing is that this was the zone that I first vanquished, and I had the same problem : it took me a lot of time to find that one little monster, but after searching every little places, I found him.
Also another zone on this island made me go trough the same thing...
After that I decided to stop vanquishing. But one day my friend forced me to vanquish Tyria with her, and I discovered something : Elona is the most annoying place in all of Tyria (the same applies for skill hunter/mission/cartography) xD.

I don't like vanquishing either, not that it's too hard but just because it's so annoying when you miss a group somewhere.
Not to mention the gold reward sux big time.

No way, not for either missions or skill hunter. Elona's skill caps are cake compared to tromping through huge (and sometimes multiple) explorable areas to get to a boss who you then have to find between 3-4 different spawn locations. Missions in Elona are at least short, VERY short in comparison to Tyria. I went through both after my Assassin was COMPLETE and decked out with good hero builds and Tyria still took longer, even the nub areas, just because mission objectives.
Anyway, on topic:
Vanquishing does suck at first, but you'll develop a technique that you can stick to once you kind of figure out what you're looking for and what kind of gaps you need to revisit and if you see moving groups to get them while you see them. I suggest doing cartography along with vanquishing. It's longer but in my experience more efficient to go around the outside of the area scraping and killing every group you see then make "pinch" points where you can segment off the area into what you've seen and what you haven't.
Sorry about your first experience being a crap one though.

Vanquishing should be about killing enemies, not finding them.
Maybe when there's only 5% left they should show up on the map or something like that.

I've never missed a few monsters after searching the whole area.
As others have said, you've missed quite alot of spots. I can see 3 parts you've missed. Learn to cover the whole area before you come moaning on here.

What do you mean Elona is the most annoying playce in tyria?
just trying to see waht you are saying, because in my game elona is: voice that sould like james earl jones: land of the rising sun.
and tyria is well across ocean over ----------> there...
pointer for vanquishing map: wall hugs then criss cross.
before i forget, i like to vanquish mwahahahaha its fun, you try a couple of times can't do it, change build, try again, repeat, and then one day you find, OMG I AM VERY GOOD AT THIS , and you've become a bulldozer, crushing everything in your path.

Well, there could be a similar kind of pointing system as with quests (only red arrow and star) that would always indicate the location of the closest (unlurked) enemy on the map while vanquishing. Would be quite helpful without spoiling the challenge.
When I started VQing I encountered the problem quite often but towards the end I learned to sweep diligently enough to get everything on the first go.

That's why I'm not vanquishing anything. If I had to run ~30 minutes and search for one red dot my heart would pop.
Though ironically out of boredom I've vanquished this area in Elona ~~

Never happened to me, including that map.
The only problem I remember when vanquishing, is cleaning everything and not being able to kill the last few monsters because death penalty or because my build is not right for that last monsters.
BTW, I see you aren't a noob, because you use 3 necros, GG!

I had a similar problem with Iron Horse Mines. One stupid patrol that took forever to find. I thought I'd just wait for them to come along on their patrol route. Then I thought I wasn't on their patrol route, so I went searching. I wasn't wrong about their route, they were hung up on the scenery.
P.S. Finding those "lost" groups goes a lot faster with guildies/friends.

It's LOGIC where the last patroll/guy is >_> Come on...
Just look at the map, think logically and go to where he is.

But your a god now, nothing can harm you anymore^^
And yeah it sucks when you miss one last bugger in a vanquish but i am usually pretty good and walk along the walls and fight my way in cirlces slowly closing in towards the centre, works nearly every time.

True, focus in tyria, some patrols walk all area around... in desert i waste 40 min to clear one area and more 40 min to find the walking patrol...
Tips
Ctrl key ftw
Be metodic... i walk and made all borders first, and for the last walk in the center, dont go for any team try to be systemic, but kill any "walking team" of foes, some patrols walk all area...
Kown the area this make things go faster... the OP, say i go to eveyplace, but its untrue, first time i see the map i see the part he forget...
This tips dont be areas easyer, its just to avoid the lost patrols or foes...
