Default Guild Wars - My Opinion

I have been playing Guild Wars now for over 2 years since the release of factions , getting Im Very Important in the process and spending over 1,800 hours on this game . My opinion of the game until recently was very positive , and I've enjoyed my time playing it .

However , over the past 2 - 3 months there has been very little , if any major content that actually makes you want to play the game . Yes , there are festivals which come up every now and again , which allow players to make a decent profit , or get alot of points towards your titles , such as sweet tooth , and party animal , and admittedly these are all very good for the game .

The problem being that once you have completed the new games , once you have got several titles etc there is incredibly little , if any new content for players to actually enjoy . Arena Net are doing very little to help this , because atm looking down the list of updates there was the dragon festival a few months ago , a few xunlai rewards , the odd bug but the majority of all updates are ' skill balencing' . Part of the promise with eye of the north was ' new content on a regular basis instead of anymore additional expansions ' . I haven't actually seen any of this new content since the introduction of hard mode to GW:EN .

Indeed , there was the 'Hall of Monuments Changes' which we were expecting , and the ' Monster of an Update' as well , but the HoM changes are not likely to be taking place any time soon as we have just heard , and from what i have read on these forums the monster update is set to be simply more skill balencing and the nerf of ursan . I am not a great fan of ursan , but for all i care it can stay as it is at the moment , as long as anet can actually introduce something , if that is a new title , perhaps a new elite area or just something that people who have been playing a long time can actually enjoy .

I know it is not just me who is feeling fed up with Guild wars at the moment , many of the people who i have known for a long time on the game are quitting , and leaving to play other games such as LOTRO , WoW and CoD4 . And with the release of Diablo 3 many more are likely to quit and play these other games instead . ArenaNet has to do something if it wants to keep people playing Guild Wars , because other games are capable of introducing new content , and Guild Wars should be capable of doing that as well, even without the online fees .

How much do you think one person can do?

Solution: Quit the game for a while, do something entirely different, and come back in 6 months.

There will be no new content until GW2 is released, so if the original game is boring you, just quit.

Yeah, all games get boring eventually. Time to move on or at least take a break.

They are now working on GW2, they earned a lot of cash from selling GW + it's expansions, but adding new free content at this point is just not profitable for them in any way. I would pay right now another 35€ to get another at least mini expansion and new content and i bet many other ppl would pay too. GW can be boring on moments and seems like there's nothing left to do and all is "boring" - but try those games you mentioned above, play them for some time and return to GW after a month or two and you'll be full of motivation again Trust me, tried to give up on GW 2 times and it just doesn't work (tried WoW and AoC, but returned to GW in less than 2 months each time). Anyway, GW2 will be here hopefully soon and then you'll have more than enough content to play

Agee with above, if you are too bored then take a break. If you still like the game but are running out of things to do then maybe you are hanging out with the wrong grp of ppl. Consider joining a new more active guild or finding new friends with active guilds.

I see MANY entertaining possibilities right thar.
My original guild [SMS] is on an extended holiday...until GW 2.
I hooked up with a chit load of wonderful nuts I fondly call [TAM].
I am their personal hired ninja.
I plan nothing.
I harrass them constantly.
Vent will never be the same.
Try abusing your alliance?
Start some 'no armor' gvg scrims with them?
Once you lose the thrill of pve...turn to the ones you love to torment..

I got stuck on 16 max titles, with only Hard Mode and purchaseable titles left, and with a dead Graphics card moved on to Diablo II...

Although there is only 1 dev, it would be nice to do SOMETHING to make it appeal again...

Odd...I posted something similar over a year ago...heh. See what you feel like after playing over 6000 hours...I even quit the game for a couple months and attempted to leave these forums behind (face it...I missed all the bitching :/)

Go play Dungeon Runners for a nice mindless break...It's free from NCSoft and kinda goofy (good for a laugh).

There are many free to dl free to play online games to look into. It is also nice to do this, it gives you a fresh perspective on GW. If you are a die hard GW fan like my self you will start to see the greatness of this game that other games lack in some way or another. I will even be nice and give you some interesting games to "check out".

- sword of the new world (colonial mmo, controls are way dif than gw, fun for awhile, like playing with bots, lol someone in there forums sig is "SoTNW the only game you can play while eating pistachios.")

- entropia universe (this is a futuristic mmo, becareful with this 1, it can suck money out of your pockets fast, see web site for why this is.)

- 9dragons (asian styled mmo, ok graphics, lacking story and skill options, horrible cut scenes)

- dreamlords (rts fairly new, everyones account currently gets reset 1 time a month, good graphics)

The above games are fun but lack the "it" factor. I could litterally make pages of why I could not stay in these games but it deffinatly gives you a great perspective on GW.

If you're bored, walk away. We have had plenty of other threads about this so I'm closing this.
