This is bullshit and you know it. June/July of '05 was not as amazing and wonderful as you're making it out to be.

The game has, for the most part, only gotten better as time has gone on. Those heavy into skill balance may disagree, but the game itself is a lot more enjoyable than it was immediately following release.

Yeah, true that. I'm just ignoring the bad aspects of the past. The game did get better but I still miss some things of it.

The "old skool" people from Guru.
The anticipation of a gold drop.
Chest Running.
Proper PuG groups.
Communication beyond wtb/wts
Favor (being stuck in US server sucks)
14^50's being gold.
The fact I use to be able to play more then an hour before getting bored.

List goes on.

Caromi Tengu farming out of riverside province!!!! Those were the greatest days in my Guild Wars career!!!!

LONG LIVE THE TENGU FARMING!!!!!

Added: Non-inscribable items. I liked when golds meant something more then just being able to add your own damage mod. They were courtious in the aspect of making it easier for us, but i miss money!

Also I miss selling unid gold items to people in Riverside for alot. Unid mesmer, ele, necro, and ranger runes for 5k each, warrior runs for 15-20k each, and monk runes for 20k each. Unid Vigor was probably worth around 100k unid too

Hell, if you buy the PvP unlock pack, you have access to every non-elite at the first trader you come across and can do a full 8 skill bar without elites or a cap sig on a brand new pve character from the start
You're misunderstanding me, I miss the days when you couldn't do that. It was the first really solid move towards account development over character development in PvE and I've been waiting with trepidation for the other shoe to drop ever since.

Things I miss:

Farming ettins for runes. They've been nerfed to oblivion. You're lucky if you even manage to get a minor rune (blue armor) now.

Griffon farming was great. Not so much the loot but the xp you got before they introduced xp scrolls to the game. Hell you had to do it for attribute refund points and skill points.

Superior vigor and absorption runes going for 60k-80k Black dye going for 10k+ Ectos selling for 15k+ shards selling for 5k+

Frozen chest and lost stronghold box. I got nothing worthwhile. It was fun cause I had nothing to do when I beat the game so had to kill time till america got favor.

How people actually used to interact with everyone in a district without someone spamming 5 letter words and talking about their nonexistent genitals every second. Yes there used to be people who had something intelligent or interesting to say a long time ago! Hard to believe I know.

Getting into a pug and managing to beat the harder missions from thunderhead keep to ring of fire to hells precipice.

When chests dropped all golds for everyone instead of that random pattern they gave them now.

Being in awesome guilds before people's epeens got bigger than their brains irl and caused drama which killed the guild.

I miss prenerf distortion, OoB, Gale and Cripshot. Also, random naked guy in bukdek byway, stance smiting, Chuck Norris jokes, when tombs had 5-10 IDs, when IWAY didnt bring an infuser, Griffon Farming, Chest running before keys were introduced (Grotto chest, I miss thee!), selling/buying being a viable means of making money, EoE bomb, going afk when bonding for rspike and coming back to "Flawless Victory", Using Destructive was Glaive on your teammates to interrupt their eviscerate when it was bugged, farming fog nightmares before mark of subversion was changed to lifestealing, casting through diversion "WTF WHERE HAS ROF GONE!", everyone being as clueless as everyone else.

I miss a friend who once though Pre-searing was the whole game, then again i miss pre-searing as a whole.

Seriously if the whole GW game is as beatiful as pre-searing, i would never have been as active on the forums as i am today(relatively speaking). I remember the day i got into post searing and saw the fugly landscape was the day i registered on guru.

Cheers.

People's timing and usage of Frenzy is what sucked. Not everyone's mind you.

Though this thread almost seems like a bunch of whining, I do become a little teary-eyed (lol) thinking about some past activities ...

When chests were either -all- gold, or -all- purple based upon the first item, I had a lot of fun group chest running. Now, there's no point.

The days of no inscriptions ...

Griffon farming! ^^

Lost Strongbox, etc.

The days of genuinely enjoying PvE, and doing Sorrow's Furnace runs with my guildies/friends ... but that's more of an issue of myself changing.

For PvE? - The warrior should probably be tanking for PvE and frenzy is not a good idea then. However I am assuming the warrior is tanking.

Tiger's Fury with prophecies was my favourite.

Miss?
in general:
some friends that stopped playing

the game:
I guess the nerfs that killed certain buildtypes, like EoE build. I didn't like EoE, but now the buildtype is completely vanished of the face of the earth.

HATE. 6 DPS (as in, not gladiators defence) Warriors WITH frenzy + monks > PvE. Moreso than ANY other combination of classes. I defy you to prove otherwise.

I miss when everything were new, when I didn't really know what Scrolls and Runes were, when running from Augury Rock to Dunes of Despair for 500g per person were ALOT of money, troll farming with my 55, wreckage in Old Ascalon, Cities full of people, guilds where I knew everyone (until everyone left GW), only core professions, when PUG was in for every single quests, when I earned my first platinum, when I found rare items with not inscriptions, did HA with random teams... And I actually could play in more than an half hour without getting boring.. It's like.. I make new characters all the time, but what for? It's not that i NEED that profession or anything for a special purpose... Heh.. Well.. I guess these things will never come back...
