The removal of thieves sounds good in theory, but I'll reserve judgment until I see how it plays.
Simplicity = good.
Always being vulnerable to split = good.

Don't really like the removal of Guild Thief tbh. Got rid of the strategic aspects of countering a split (snaring their thief, killing after time, etc.)
Oh well. Could be worse.

Oh lord GvG is about to get a kick........Glimmering mark >.< come on.
Solution?
15 E
1 Sec Cast
15 Sec recharge
Target foe and ADJACENT foes take 1~33 damage while under this hex. (Last 3~9 Sec)

Which is WHAT FIRE IS FOR!
Fire = Hate lots of folks at once for moderate damage
Air = Really hate THAT guy there!
Seriously, if Izzy wants it to be a direct damage over time hex, it needs be looking like this;
Glimmering Mark
Elite Hex Spell
10 Energy
1 Sec Cast
10 Sec Recharge
Glimmering Mark does 15-25 damage per second. [Does not ignore armor] Glimmering Mark ends early if any non-Air spell or skill is used on the target. 10 second duration.
That way it would fit the air philosophy, which is lots of damage at one time to that one guy.

Ya imho this update is complete crap. There are two strategies that will play out and I have the build to do both. First strategy is to Zerg Rush/8 man start of match gank (can it even be called gank anymore?). The second is to DP the opposing team out. Since DPing a whole team out is nearly impossible, a full team gank would be best. No strategy, whoever has the most speed buffs and fastest attacks win. What build could do this you ask? Simple, an 8 assassin team, with 2 speed buffs a piece, a self heal, a shadow step, and an awesome attack chain. GG. Ya I', never GVGing again. Anyone with a good free MMO could you please PM me. Also I said good so runescape HD doesnt count!

This would be a great idea, right now I'm using Phantom Pain > Glimmering Mark on one foe, then swapping to attack a second, which is effective, but it spreads your damage across two foes which isnt really how air spiking is supposed to work.

ANet should stop using its customers as guineapigs and start testing before they change the game dramaticly by changing gameconcepts. It really wasn't too hard to see or even imagine up front what the influence would be of the lord walking to the stand alone.

agree there. alot of the changes seem to be done 'on paper', and theres alot of bugs and reversions with each update
i still think they should have a live test server open to all players, where future builds are tested properly to iron out any bugs before live and feedback can be given before things are final.

In Izzy land, PvE doesn't exist.

ArenaNet doesn't care about GW anymore, despite opinions from several members of Guru. They just want to keep you for the 2 year time to GW2 by spicing up the game.

Yeah really. You don't even have to do more than "causal" GvG to have noticed how badly vod farming was getting, how differently (8v8) the game played since vod was nuked, and how these changes are aimed at getting splitting back on track. (whether successful or not.)
Quote:
On the other hand, whats to stop an 8v8 build from turtling and repeatedly wiping the opposing team just to beastmode at some point and guildrush?
|
How do you repeatedly wipe someone in turtle mode? While turtling you are giving up morale boosts, if the attackers are getting DPd faster than that, they should have the sense to not rush in and wait for morale. Meanwhile all they need to do is put 1 point of damage on the enemy GL before the 28 mark and win the match. And when gankoff time comes, guess which team's GL is going to have half or less max health.
P.S. Have you theorycrafters tried plowing through the GL's amulet of protection before the 4 minute mark? Guild thieves did next to nothing to stop an opening rush, that's why the amulet was invented in the first place.

So, I watched a match that ended Harry Potter Quidditch style (I certainly never thought of it this way first, but it's my favorite GvG analogy).
You got the entirety of each team competing over the flag stand the whole match, see-sawing back and forth from base to base, and finally when nearing the closing seconds, some random guy splits off and runs straight for the guild lord, giving him a single wand smack, and claiming the game.
However, not all games are ending this way, and I like how they end in the pit. There certainly are a lot of games that take a lot of time tho.

That's why you are a PvE player, because you don't know much about the effects of this update. This update doesn't force an 8v8 as much as the last one; instead, it promotes splitting. Removing thieves and gates promotes more splits on thief maps since you don't have to keep the thief alive and you can retreat much easier.
In addition, you are no longer forced into an 8v8 (except where you are at a complete advantage, or where you are just miserably losing, at which case it doesn't matter anyway) and you can continue to split past 20 minutes.

Well tbh atleast he changed the current which was booooorrrriiiiinnng. The best whit this update is
Bodyguard now fires Fireballs instead of Arrows!
Altough the Gate thing is kinda boring :/ - Atleast for me as a Runner -.-'' Since i cant wtf get that annoying Ranger out of the base x[
Altough now i can use my new Ranger which costed me about 100,00,00 gold

If I understand correctly the update before this forced a 8v8 constant battle at the stand and had nothing to reward a split. People QQed their eyes out over this.
The new update rewards the picking off of opposing NPCs which make the base more vulnerable once the push to the guild lord begins. Doesn't this encourage at least a bit of splitting without it being completely essential like it was with the old VoD? Is this not what people wanted? Some people need to grow up a bit and stop whining.
