My friend has been farming SF for weeks trying to get Grognar's sword, with no luck. I went out on a run with him today and the 1st boss we encounter is Drago and - boom - his zealous bow drops for me, 1st time I've ever gotten that one from him (4 sundering and 1 vamp in the past). Friend still trying for that sword.

I once spent about 10 days straight farming there trying to get a Tarnok's recurve. Got a whole boatload of other greens but Tarnok never dropped once and when I realized that he could drop 1 of 3 bows, I figured it would be just my luck that, if he ever did, it would prob not be the recurve so I ended up just buying one, for 18k no less. Really funny thing thing is that after getting it, I've never used it.

Anyone have a Vulnero's Curse they're not using?

Yeah lol, I had a good experience with Sorrow's Furnace too, when I was doing it awhile back for the sole purpose of getting the then-new statue for the hom, I got Rago's Flame Staff

Sure, it's not the most valuable drop ever, but it was a quick 45k on what I expected to be a relatively profitless run. The greens always seem to drop for those who aren' looking for them; I've gotten a decent amount over time through normal play, but the couple times I tried to get a specific green, it took something like two hours to get. Of course, I actually soloed; trying to get good specific drops while playing with heros (or other people for that matter, unless they're going to give you the item if it drops) is bad, as it drastically decreases the chances you'll have of getting what you're looking for.

All my guys pretty much use greens only. (Well except for the casters that I made +5 energy Brass spears for. Love, love, LOVE that skin!)
Cheap, good looking stuff. Ohh and did I mention that I prefer the colour green over gold?
It's PvE - as long as I look pretty, who cares.
The heroes sure as hell don't.

Since Nightfall came out there are a few weapons I have tried to get. I have tried for an r9, max, inscribable Fiery Elonian Gladius. I have tried for Wioli's Artifact. I have tried for Darksong. We are in a double drop rate weekend where I repeatedly went in and killed the same 7 monsters, Wioli is one of them, in order to get his green. After a dozen romps in and kills with NO deaths to our name (Myself and 3 healer heroes) we suddenly cant approach without dying. (There is no Farm code, there is no farm code, there is no farm code - repeat mantra.) Did the green drop before I got to fill up my invetory (1-2 drops maybe per round) - no it didnt. Do I now believe there is a double rate of green drops for the weekend. No I do not - unless double of Never drops = Never drops. (2x0=0)

Am I bitching, yes... I go to the free chests and get 0 gold and maybe another useless mesmer weapon - often they are purple. This is not because of going too often, I frequently dont go for 2 months at a time. People who go every 30 days get gold and gold drops. I tried that - and it didnt happen either. I play a great deal. I have noticed - since I am using my other account to help a friend - the account I dont normally play and hadnt since I bought 14 slots for my main - that that account gets better drops. It seems we are punished for being avid players.

With 10 characters to advance, around 300 titles to get for HoM (PvE player), armors, etc. It appears that those most dedicated to playing the game are to be punished for making an effort. - punished with bad and no drops.

I've long suspected this.

Weird, first time opening of all chests and such got me all golds and gems for 3 of my characters, second time got them golds too. Only after the third time purples started to appear and the money tended to get a lot less.

My Green Farming Era died after I finished collecting all of them from SF. "Ok, I'm done!"

Then they began popping up all over Cantha and Elona... "F&@* that!"

Eventually I lost interest in the ones I had collected since they were just sitting there taking up space. I sold them or gave most of them away to mates. I still have my Rago's staff since that was the hardest for me to get.

Anyway, good luck on getting the weapon skins you want. That's what they mostly are really: skins.

Well, if green prices weren't low enough, they'll certainly be low now.

Better get your kiddie Assassins lined up with their grasp masks. Raptor mom's claws are gonna be given out like candy in the next few days.

By the way, wouldn't it be more convenient to purchase greens over golds? You'd get the item in one swift purchase without suffering the usual gibbering GW vocabulary.

Meh, for me it doesnt seem that green rate is low, i get em, loads, i Allways get em, was doing SF run with friend (Sorrow's Furnance) and we got 8 greens, well 1 of em was one i wanted for hero (The Kindlerock) but still, i get greens all the time while vanquishing, exploring, quests, anything.. so i merch 75% of em rest goes heros & friends

The problem with greens is they are not special, I mean, that weapons need something like +1 stats, making them impossible to build yourself with mods, or make max mods very hard to get. IMO, weapon mods are too easy to get, too easy in comparison of how hard is to get some weapon skins; unbalanced IMO.

This has nothing to do with the amount of time between the openings, it's solely based on the amount of openings.

WRONG!!!! You are not GUARENTEED a gold....my monk went to the treasure in dasha for the frist time (I didnt have magrid on her so I couldnt go before I finished the last mission and got the other heroes, and as I ONLY h/h I had never been there before with her)....what did she get on the very first time she opened it...grape and about 1k....she also got a grape from the last treasure as well (the domain of pain one) on her first go thru---she has horrible luck and I dont do treasures with her unless I just want cash.

In other news I have 2 characters that have not finished nf yet and ALWAYS get gold when they open the chests as well as pretty close to max gold....

OP I too have bad luck when it comes to specific bosses....the mindclouder comes to mind, yeah yeah yeah everyone and their brother has gotten that one to drop for them....except me.....same with that dang monk chidehkir...he has never dropped his green for me (and I have killed him so many times I think I ran out of places to put notches on my weapons for each kill)....

other bosses drop their green for me and I dont even want it (have a bunch from the starter islands and some of the other mesmer bosses).....

so it is all luck.

I once went with a party of 8 to go kill the bug queen outside of Augury rock, and I got the green.
And for my 55 necro I decided to go kill the root behemoths with a full h&h party, the 6th or such dropped one.
That's the only times I killed stuff with no other goal then get the green. I'\/e ne\/er had another green drop though.

This wknd is double drop rate for greens...so I decide to crank up that perma sin and go farm for Sskai's Sword...10 times, no motherfcking green...So yes I feel your pain >.<

heh heh, day before this green's weekend gets started, I'm out puttering around with full heroes and henchies just testing a build. So, I'm not paying attention to where I am and suddenly "owie! owie! arrgh! who is that evil maniac?" wildly bashing on me. Oops! I've blundered into Sskai's camp. He drops his sword, I guess by way of apology for beating up a lost tourist. Like Illidan I've farmed for it on occasion, no luck. Then it sort of falls out of the sky.

I get green drops so seldom that my usual reaction when I see a green name is "Who's that?" - thinking I've gained a new hero/hench.

I seldom get them when I go out farming for one. I usually get them when I am doing other things, like point farming or skill capping. And I also get mostly the ones unknown to anyone who hasn't studied the wiki.

Last week I got Cho's Vice. This week, while farming Vanguard points, The Wingshielder, which is a nice healing staff; so something useful for a change.

Of course, since the weekend started, nothing at all has dropped.

i kept looking and gave up really
but yeh it's suckage
your best bet is to go for Sorrow's furnace, they got good greens and with the weekend you'll sure to have some luck there

Decided to try getting Incetol's Focus today, as it'd look nice on my cute lil monk. Killed her again...and again...and again...for hours......nothing. Went to work on my sin for a bit...full h/h group. Made it to Pongmei Valley. Both Meynsang AND Xueko dropped their greens. WTF!! D:

My luck really sucks xD

been capping elite skills the whole weekend and even when its a x2 more chance to get a green weapon, some how there's none. i think i cap around 30 elites ...

Same. Capped like 15 elites, killed 20 bosses (well, they were on my way, plus morale is never enough), 0 greens.

I have already tried purchasing the one's I want. They are not available. No one is selling them, or no one is getting them.

Wioli's Artifact: have to sneak by 2 groups of margonites (possible), 2 large groups of undead (possible most of the time), run from a group of pop-up mandragor, get in Crytal Overlook (take bounty), kill 3 Monuments, and then deal with Necro boss surounded by mixed guard of Sadistic and Nomad giants. I take 3 monk heroes - first 10-12 kills, fairly easy and no deaths - then everyone dies and keeps dying. Green never drops. Want this one for my Necro to match with Shadestone for my favorite bloodbuild and elite armor. Does it have to be his green, no - I could make one, but I have never seen a max truncheon (purple or gold) with those stats or inscribable drop. Nor have I ever seen a max 15/-1 mod for anything drop.

Exuro's Will - Simply never see drop. Romped out there a number of times. Alturnately would accept Hajkor's Flame. I killed him close to 70 times farming LB and SS points. (Repeatedly vanquished the area to max titles, instead of the boring runs. Only green drop - Alem's Remedy. As much as I was out there I should have had all of them.) Want this for fire hero. Have I seen anything max drop that I would put on him - not in 5500+ hours of play.

Flint's Fleshcleaver - another is not dropping. I get greens in that area - but not his. No one wants to trade or sell it if anyone has it. I want for Zhed whom I run as an Ice Ele.

The game is played for entertainment. It is a visual game. What is not visually appealing is Not entertaining. I have complained before about the lack of consistancy in motifs and appearance. For instance, you cannot get Ascalonian armor that looks like anything Ascalonian - yet you are supposed to have been part of the princes special unit. Even monumental armor has nothing in it that reflects an Ascalonian heritage. Luxon armor shows no jade in its making. Kurzick armor shows no amber. Crafters and collectors do not provide things specific to their area. It reminds me of flower beds that look like they had an accident with a nursery delivery truck - nothing placed with any thought of appearance or appropriateness for that location.

The game is about entertainment, which varies from person to person. And there is a difference between merely doing business and doing business you can smile about. If we are only interested in stats and do not care about the quality of our presentation then it is no longer entertainment, its work, a job, etc. Work is what 80% of people do because that is what they need not because it is what they want. Only a few get to enjoy what they do. Why should our entertainment be as equally disappointing?
