This was already stated in an earlier thread what happens if you all go for the chest (im assuming three people went for the chest) one person gets three of the drops he would have had. Its a known bug and it rarely happens, but it does and kudos to those that it happens to.

My first ever black dye drop was followed five minutes later by my second black dye drop. Happened when soloing undead in Kryta. I was pretty blown away by that.

i got a purple drop and a broken lockpick for 5th time in a row, and i stopped using locked chest for like 2-3months

I have ran over 10,000 chests and never seen such a thing. Your friend was very lucky indeed. The odds must be astronomical against this happening.

I had two Elite Warrior Tomes drop for me from a chest in Moddock Crevice while playing through NF with a friend. This was normal mode and I opened the chest first btw. Needless to say my friend was pi$$ed

Seconded, this is a most extraordinary claim. I've never heard of tomes dropping in NM and ANet has specifically indicated otherwise.

Well I have a theory. In Presearing at least if you open the hidden treasures there too many times you can not get anything out of them. This might be that?
