No, the area you found next to Ranik ís Melandru's Garden. I think they call it that because it looks like some secret garden, and well, Melandru is the goddess of nature. And it is really nice ideed.

And pre is precious to people because it's the spot where a lot of people started playing GW 3 years ago. If you went there for the first time after having played Factions of NF first, then I can imagine pre seeming boring.
Pre is where it all started. That just contributes to the good memories people have.

Pre-Searing is the best area in the game IMHO.

Getting the LDoA title and dying your armor BLACK will be so much fun. I get the biggest kick out of running my lvl 17 war with a new player to get their Res sig. What a blast.

There also is not a "RUSH" in Pre. Nothing is rushed this or rush that..who cares about that. There is a sense of peace and purpose.

There are titles that you can get in pre. One for simply getting lvl 20 witch is the only area in the game to get that title. There is also the Max drunken title that you can get in pre. I can get 1 stack of hunter's ales in one week. so in 40 weeks I can farm the Max Drunken title worth over 1 Million Gold.

Either way, most people are there in pre as a decision of their own, they WANT to be there. There is no one saying they Have to be there.

There is even a story time event that happens. There is a secret gathering of adventures to hear a story, one chapter a night. This just adds to the culture of Pre-searing

Presearing looks quite good indeed, but imo GW:EN looks much better.

Most of the presearing goodness can be pointed back to nostalgia. And not even the Charr Homelands with it's beauty can bring that back.

I would be disappointed with myself if I couldn't farm way more than a million in 40 weeks!

That is so true! They just don't make nostalgia like they used to!

Too bad I don't have fond newbie-memories tied to Pre-Searing Ascalon.
It was implemented rather late into Alpha/Beta. So by the time I played Pre-Searing for the first time, I had already been in the four post-searing missions for... a year?
But I do remember how deeply impressed I've been with the art designer's work (and how sad I was that it can't be the other way round... the tutorial some ugly brown wastelands, and the real game so beautiful).

Anyway, definitely one of the most beautiful areas in the game, probably only rivaled by some EotN areas (like the Charr Homelands or some of the dark glowing snow areas etc.).

My best moment of GW Presearing was my Elementalist taking Gwen for a tour of all the pretty places of presearing.

Pre-searing was definitely nice, soothing, nostalgic... It was nice to see it again in GWEN

Isn't that the whole point of a MMORPG, show how much time you have to spend playing it?

The last time I was in PreSearing, Ascalon was about mid-May. I took a three month vacation across the country. I came back for 2 weeks and my account was hacked. I lost the password and lost patience with PlayNC master account support staff.

So once I purchase the M.O.X. Special Edition of Guild Wars, I'll be able to make my character quickly and make sure to spend atleast 5 days in PreSearing.

So beautiful...

With all these new campaigns, with it comes new skills, missions, quests, factions/titles, SLDG:A GL HALKFJLSDJFL
....It drives me insane sometimes. I'd rather have to spend 17 tries on Thunderhead Keep(which I did) than breeze through it with 1 or 2 other real ppl. Prophecies was a REALLY well made game, and although I still enjoy GW, Prophecies always has a special place in my heart
