Which is why I will wait for the HoM to be "finalized" before I add any of my tormented weapons. Seriously though, I lol at the people who will customize tormented daggers and stuff on their casters and vice-versa..

It really is a craps shot to be honest, there are tons of armbraces out there. I personally know around 20 people with 10+ armbraces for sell the second the update comes out. Plus there all the duped braces that survived.
Then there the fact that everyone has know about this for 6 months. Hell I've had my full tormented weapon a week after Reggy spilled the beans, heroes been keeping them safe for me this whole time.
I think the only incease in prices were seeing short term is from Ursan and Speculators, and still it hard to sell for more than +30e.
Honestly for people who can afford to fill up their hall with torment weapon, who hasn't bought them already.

I have one character who outfits himself and all his heroes with Tengu gear, and another who uses all Undead gear, both of which I think look fantastic. The hero teams look great out in the explorables with matched weapon styles, too, and the skins seem to go well with many armor styles. A real triumph of graphic design! I'm not very partial to the Mursaat and Charr gear from the other two stories, though.
However, I would sure like to get a good definition of "prestige". Tormented weapons are insanely expensive. But Destroyer weapons cost only a fraction as much and are still considered "prestige". Armor sets don't have to cost more than 100k, or even use much in the way of rare materials, to be considered "prestige".
If Destroyer weapons are "prestige" then why aren't Deldrimor weapons? Right now the cost in cash + rare materials is about the same for both (a little higher for Deldrimor), and the common materials needed for the Destroyer weapons are not hard to get. And you can get a Destroyer weapon crafted without fighting your way to the weaponsmith every time, unlike the Deldrimor, plus you can carry enough cash and materials to get more than 10 in one visit.
I'm in the process of fitting out another char and his team with Deldrimor gear, because I really like the skins. (Well, except for the focus. Bleh.) I do not care for either the Destroyer or the Tormented, so, if I decide to fill my HoM, I'll take the cheapest way out: I'll buy a bunch of Destroyer weapons, dedicate them in HoM, then throw them in the trash. What a waste.

the idea of "prestige weapons" were shattered ever since they added destroyer weapons
oh wait...that means the idea was never there in teh first place...myyy baad
seriously...destroyer weapons r bout as presitgious as the end-game factions crafter weapons
(yesh, im talkin bout teh blue non-inscr en+5 katana's and cleavers and wut nots)
imo, the only "prestigious" weaps r teh rare (and semi-rare) skin gold r9's
even some of the ones that have become quite common like fellblades, i'd still consider quite prestigious
the only reason destroyer and tormented weaps r in hom
is cuz those r easiest to code
not cuz those r the most prestigious

Destoyer weapons were prestige weapons at there time, when onyx were 8k at the trader. But they turned into another elemental sword when people found easy ways to farm dungeons, and the availablity of onyx was way to much for the demand. A full destroyer set for your HoM cost more than FoW for the first 2 months of gwen, but people filled up there hall, and no alternative use for them, they became merchant fodder.
Also for most people, 1 set of destoyer weapons is enough. I know alot of people with multiple sets of Fow for their character, but not destroyer weapons.

So, I get the impression from reading all this that the general perception is that there's some magical "bonus" for completely filling your Hall of Monuments. Is this true? Where does this information come from?

Don't knock the +5 katana's. The katana skin is about 1000x better than the destroyer gladius. Oh, sorry, destroyer sword.
As for the tormented, maybe if they had them from the start or a month or two in, it may have been something to get excited about. But this late? I filled my weaps monument with ugly crap already, so not really going to care.

The HoM will transition somehow from GW1 to GW2, as has been officially stated. We don't know exactly how, yet, except that it won't be anything that gives a GW1 player any actual gameplay advantage over those who haven't played GW1. It will only give something like cool-looking gear that is only available to those with an "ancestor" that recorded achievements in HoM. I believe the HoM will also allow you to reserve your character names from GW1 for use in GW2.
Presumably these bonuses will depend on completing each monument. For example, maybe a special armor skin for those with a full Monument of Resilience, a special pet or hero for those with a full Monument of Fellowship, etc. But, nobody really knows. I would just be surprised if there were bonuses for individual items in non-completed monuments, since that would be an awful lot of work for the devs. Obviously, people want to fill up all the monuments just to be sure of getting any and all bonuses available when the time comes.

My emphasis in your quote, but is that honestly what's going on here? It seems that most folks concerned have an awful lot invested in this hunch that they must complete their hall....

Thanks for the response, anyway.

Why would anyone want to put another ugly weapon set in their HoM is beyond me.

I honestly could care less what we can and cannot put in the hall of monuments. It has no adverse effect on gameplay, its just vanity that may or may not carry over to GW2.
And before some psuedo-intellectual PvE farmbot tries to make some bogus rationalization for how vanity somehow is gameplay, let me just give a preemptive "I don't care."
The importance of skill balances, HB/HA/GvG fixes, and titles that actually do affect gameplay through bonuses and pve skills are infinitely more important then the ability to add more crap to your hall.

I think you get something for a full shrine, where "full" means maximum spots on display. Be that some special skin/armor/weapons set/pet/emote whatever. I think that's what wiki says anyway.

They should just let you take anything you want to. Basically allow you to completely transition your GW character to GW2.

Some people actually like it to be able to add more crop to their HoM. Someone who isn't interested in PvP, completed all campaigns with various characters and completed all Elite area's over and over.

Well, if you fill every monument, you get an extra "level" on that floaty blue statue thing behind the Honor monument, equivalent to another rank of KoaBD. That's a pretty strong indicator right there.

Did you read your post before hitting Submit?
@ OP, this will only appeal to completionsts who must have everything in their hall. More power to them as well, if this means they are still enjoying the game then great. Beyond this, I would guess the average of all players would be less than 4 weapons in the hall though. It's just another grind-a-thon to keep you here. It will be Prophecies Sorrow's Furnace Greens next
Enjoy.

I understand what the assumption is, what I didn't understand was why everyone seems so sure of that conclusion.

Thank you. That's the kind of info I was looking for... though I'm not 100% sure what you mean by the level, I'll take your word for it. I agree though, an actual change to the way the HoM looks inside once you fill all the monuments is certainly a good indication.

He's talking about the different stages the statue will go through when you up your Kind of a Big Deal rank. Top Right picture on the Wiki.
The statue got 6 levels, one for each KoaBD-rank. Filling the Hall grants you another rank.
KoaBD5 + All HoM monuments filled = KoaBD6.
However, nothing changes when you would get KoaBD6 + Full Hall
