Theres no point customising caster stuff, but on War weapons, it's a choice between +20% damage or not. More damage = better Warrior, so therefore I customise.

Wanding sometimes gets kills. Not as much in PvE (meh, if you're not casting / kiting in that moment in time because you don't need to you might aswell...) but in PvP, every little bit of damage and even the slightest bit could be the difference between a kill and a failed kill. I understand not customizing caster weapons if you're primarily PvE though.
Honestly though, not customizing your weapons as a profession that can deal considerable damage through their weapon is stupid. It's a mere 10 gold and this game isn't some sort of "dress your character, enlarge your e-peen, and maybe sell it off when you get bored!" game. If you really think you're going to sell it off buy a few more weapon sets that are cheap and use them instead, because you're only decreasing your damage capabilities by alot. You're not going to be wanting a +15^50 / vamp / Fortitude martial weapon on a caster over a -5E or +5E. You're not going to need a bow on anything but your Ranger if you're being serious (and if you do I'm wondering why).

Stop bringing up wands and staffs its pretty obvious to anyone who has a clue people who are saying you should customize are talking about weapons you use to do damage with not caster stuff. And Tyla casters should be doing their job not worrying about how much damage they are doing wanding stuff, if you have to rely on wanding for damage you have more problems than worrying about customizing.
And jokes about wanding stuff are as funny as mending jokes, just stop it.

I just hate the feeling when I hit something that I could be dealing 20% more damage. Oh and I'm talking about Wands and Staffs, customizing martial weapons should be too obvious to even be discussed.

If one does not play the specific build (not only team but also class build) - one is retarded also.
Running non-customized weapons is sub-optimal.
In PvE - that isn't an issue. PvE not only allows that - but it's actually designed for that.
In PvP on the other hand one should be running around with the best possible gear.
Which means EVERYTHING should be customized.
And maxed.
And if one can not afford that - one should be running PvP-only guys.

The problem with that logic: it's hard to know for sure what the "best" team build for an area is, because "best" can be defined by "fastest clear", "easiest clear", "easiest to find a PUG for," or a combination of these and other attributes. On the other hand, +20% damage is always and unconditionally a good thing to have, and it gives a significant boost to your killing power.

I always customize my stuff, just a habit. Really though the only classes that need to actually worry about it though are War, Rang, Para, Derv, and Sin. Casters generally don't wand mobs to death and even if they did it would only be 2-4 extra damage from the customization.

There are some cases where having customized caster weapons would make a difference (QQ vs EW!). However, it's so minor that it's not really important. That slight increase on wand damage is made negligible under effects like overheal, overkill, party heals, and so on.
Physical weapons, on the other hand, don't have a reason not to be.

There is only one way since everything else means that the party isn't optimal in terms of player skill.
What you want is the game catering to the best players and this means that you have those people running the builds in question.
And that can only mean - the fastest clear.
And only that.

The funny thing is, people will spend 100s of Ks on a weapon that would do less damage then a customized white weapon with no damage modifier.

I customize because I keep the weapon specifically to that character. Although giving extra damage to a staff that usually isn't used for attacking is sort of silly. +20 for casting or more energy, maybe. Hmm... I sense an idea to post in idea thread.

Holy crap man! Is there really a need for 20 different daggers for 1 sin? It is nuts that they are all req 8 though.
But when it comes to overkill, you take the cake.
I just look at that and see lots of gold washed down the drain.. Most of those weapons have the same mod combination. I might understand if each one had a different mod combination. like dazers, cripplers, deep wounders, etc..
I wonder how much each one of those daggers would go for uncustomized?

I think trying to sell most the weapons is a waste of time and +20% dmg even for a monk can be useful so YES I am customizing stuff as well. If I do not use it the heroes will. The only problem is when I want to move those weapons to heroes on the other char... Then it comes to face the consequences of the previous decisions...

Customization should have been account wide from the start anyway... But meh.
Usually I don't customize, but that's because I simply forget to. I'm gonna have to check my weapons and customize some here and there, especially on my heroes...
Man... 10 characters with lots of heroes... I'm gonna need to work out some sort of organising system. Huge Excel file with chars + heroes + equipment + customized yes/no.
Madness!!!

Generally no. With an exception for some Destroyer weapons I was forced to customize in order to add them to my HoM.
