Still "playing" my way through Prophecies with my three Characters--Ranger, Warrior, Elementist. But after arriving at the desert where everyone just wants to run or be run through the game I found it difficult to get a party of "Players" together. This is an old gripe from a former message where some of the great folks here offered up to play through and that was great and worked for a while. Well anyway to the point of this post (sorry for the rant).
I went and got NightFall as suggested here and have raised a few heroes to help out but still enjoy the interaction of other players. So I join parties in NightFall to level up my heroes and so forth. Well this weekend I ran into a few situations where parties were advertised with the condition Masters Only. I also joined one group and was bluntly told -- Masters Only -- and kicked.
Now I know that the mission rewards in NightFall have a Masters level which gives more experience and reward and certainly I have no problem questing to complete at Masters level. But is there something else going on here that would distinguish a player as a Master or not a Master. Or am I just plain confused???
to get the protector title in nightfall you have to have finished the missions with masters, what u ran into was title seekers and not regular pugs. you can thank the hall of monuments for all of these nubs that make it hard on regular gamers.
Sounds like you ran into jerks from eotn that refuse to run anything but ursan if you pinged your build and then suddenly you got dropped. Honestly on some levels like seborah (the small mission with the 3 gates, cant remember the spelling). having 1 or 2 mms is better than all ursans imho, especially ones with order of undeath.

yeah he knows that but how could they have known is all, he got dropped as soon as he joined. SO unless hes not level 20 i dont think that makes sense.

I think they might of been doing HM but didn't announce it. If that is not the case there was no reason to simply kick you like that, unless of course they were just a-holes.

I am a level 20 ascended prophecies character so no way they could the obvious character deficiency be a flag. I also did not ping my skill set and that's what is confusing me.
So from the answers so far it is just a few elitist wanna-be's running around screaming "Master's rule!" (this happened in a group I finally was able to join) and not some kind of indicator for my character?
Could it be a Master of Whisper's heros only party, i.e. not Margrid the Sly?
Have you chosen one of these two heros yet?
They are exclusive until you complete the last mission and limit what missions you can do, i.e Dzagoner Bastion is a Master of Whispers mission and Dasha Vestibule is a Margrid the Sly mission.
See the Guild Wiki page on Heros for more info on how it all hangs together.

That's all that it was. In some of the missions, the party leader will make it clear that they are attempting to get Masters (and usually it's because the party leader has already gotten the Standard or Expert reward), and you'd better on board to get it since often the Masters reward requires a different strategy than the normal mission.
i am by no means jealous and your obviously one of those title seeker nubs, so why not post a useful post and answer the guys question instead of just flaming.
It was either your level or your build even though it doesn't really matter at the point of the game that you're at. You probably just joined a group of assholes.
you sure u didnt ask a question that completly gave away the fact that you didnt know the master condition wich is easly screwed up in some miss? maybe they needed more of a certain class u didnt happen to be? maybe they were runnign ursan and saw u didnt show your slayer title so they kicked you knowing they werent competent enought to do it randonly pugging? maybe they are a-holes? my 2 cents.
You ran into some idiots. There's nothing to distinguish you as a regular player or a "Masters" player. The reason for this lack of distinction is simple: There's no such thing!
I wouldn't let the "masters" thing deter you from joining a group, because the worst thing that could happen is that you end up going a bit out of your way to kill a few extra enemies (Blacktide Den comes to mind), or your party fails to keep at least 5 of 6 defenses intact for Dzagonur Bastion (if that's the case, then they wouldn't get masters with or without you!).
Afterthought: Are you sure they weren't looking to do the mission in Hard Mode? Because if you haven't completed the story-line with one character, you can't do things in HM. I have kicked people who don't have access to HM from my parties when doing HM missions. Hopefully, when I explain to them why they can't come along, they don't think I'm being a jerk.

No it was in a real early mission--Kodonur Crossroads--as I am just starting nightfall. I did read about the Master of Whispers during my quest to get an answer to this before popping to the guru. As a matter of fact I believe that choice is next quest after this mission.
I'm guessing the above poster is correct, and that the party was looking for Hard Mode masters. As soon as you joined the party, they would know that your account doesn't have HM Nightfall unlocked, and would probably kick you without debate. (Not that it wouldn't have been nicer to explain it to you first)
Do you recall whether they were advertising for "HM Masters" or "NM Masters"?

I am familiar with the HM requirement and no it was not advertised as Hard Mode. It is possible that this group failed to advertise it and realized I wasn't. It is just that the accepted my join request, then in team chat asked--Can we help you? To which I replied--Doing Mission? and that is when I got--Masters only--and kicked.
Well it seems this is a non-issue other than some possible rudeness it was just the way it happened and then the in joining a follow up group and seeing the war cry of "Masters Rule" that made it seem like I was missing something.
As always thanks to all and see ya around Tyria and now Elona
Kodonur is cake for Master's... I'm guessing you just ran into some snobs that thought they were great and probably weren't.
Sorry to hear about that... keep trying though =). PUGs can be a very rewarding experience if you're lucky enough to get a good one or good enough to organize a decent run.
what doesn't make sense to me and please correct me if I'm wrong but you have to complete the mission while completing a certain goal at the same time to get masters reward
while in proph you can get the bonus and then leave but you still get the bonus
so if they have to complete the miss to get masters anyway why not take a person who hasn't done the mission before?
do you get something different if you get masters in hard mode than if you do it in normal mode?
