Well theyre not building the hype very well. Especially with the "no teasers at PAX" bit. If they can keep me interested in GW long enough, maybe ill try GW2.

The only thing I heard was about GW2 lore being told through some book deal and once in awhile I check out the wiki for info. All seems quite on the homefront which apparently is the way they like it until they are ready.

I could go for some concept art to get me excited... Maybe in 2009 we'll start seeing some concept art.
Hell, maybe we'll see teasers at PAX 2009

Oh okay, so you think that GW2 was started the day they announced it? Hah. Gaile had mentioned the timeframes they work with in ANet, and it's highly likely GW2 has been developed for the last 2 years at least. Which means that they're either doing something wrong, or not doing anything at all.

Or they're simply doing what they're (technically) aiming at doing, and want it done perfectly, thus there may be delays, or they're sticking to a plan they're not telling us (because this would cause more expectations and they may have realised how bad the announcement of GW2 too early turned, so their only option is to keep quiet and try to appease the community, I think a few words from Regina could do that well; I know it sounds stupid, but a CR saying "we're working hard and are progressing steadily" can have a big impact, despite all the moaning, whining and rumors of vapors).
In passing, hasn't anyone thought that Aion looks strangely similar to GW in many aspects? I've watched lots of videos of it, it has stunningly amazing graphics, PvEvP à la AB/FA/JQ, and many other things. I was wondering whether there's something from Anet behind it... (NOTE NOTE NOTE: this is me asking a question, it's in NO WAY a subliminal suggestion that Anet or GW2 are behind Aion, let's not start or propagate rumors...)

Gaile doesn't appear to think that GW2 will be canceled, but then again....I don't know if I believe her.
EDIT: Sorry image got deleted. Here it is again:

If we want to believe Anet, it was said the decision was made around the time when the Domain of Anguish patch was released (~Nov.2006).
We don't know how much of the new engine design was already done by then, but part of the team had to make EotN. Full production started just one year ago.

Do you guys feel appeased? How 'bout it?
The lack of communication with the playerbase is not a good thing.

When it comes to information A-net always, releases their information about their games at the last minute. Not to mention that their first tidbit of information on the game is never the most accurate one and things usually have“spin info,” to it. I highly doubt we will see anything remotely on GW 2 until late next year at the very most. I believe there will be some who will be severely disappointed with that new information though (cutbacks).

I asked them a couple weeks ago if they could give an estimated date of when they are going to make an announcement on the minimum specs needed to run GW2. The reply was;
“ At this time we do not have any information about the system requirements for Guild Wars 2. When the game gets closer to being released the information will be made public. Please let us know if you have further questions. “
So I guess that is some sort of info of nothing for you
Also noticed alot of openings for employment in NCSoft (not that this means anything )

Absolutely agree. IMHO CR/M change has been a failed opportunity and I now think again of my idea of a council of players, it could save the game, given the the team working on GW1 is rather small and such a council could talk to Linsey. But, well, it's not going to happen.
Regina, please make a statement, I'm sure there are things you can say that won't reveal much, but will tell us something.

Funcom tried that as well and look how well it turned out for them. GG Anet. Don't QQ too much when blizzard or someone else steals all of your customers.

GW2 will be competing with Diablo 3. I know which camp I will be in if forced to make a choice. GW to me has always been a fun distraction to bide the time between Diablos.

Anet,
Drown us in screens, movies, details and features! We neeed them. Hurry it up. Seriously, if you want to compete you better get GW2 on the shelves asap!
Rush! Rush it out, even with bugs and resource suckers, like AoC, so we can watch a steep decline in the playerbase by nearly 65% in 6 months.
Rush! Rush it out and hype the story like noone else has done before so we can feel all good inside and be content with personal satisfaction. Do it like Hellgate that made it openly obvious if you rush a game to market you'll get a lovely infestation of junk. Go Hellgate! Which...oh my...HG just announced it's shutting down in Jan/2009.
I've said it so many times. I hope to whatever God above there is, that Anet continues to take it slow on GW2, doesn't say anything about it until each detail is accurate, instead of pushing, giving eye candy, and hyping to please impatient.

Heh.
Threads like these, (and Sardelac, and Lore forums) are all the hype ANet needs for GW2.
