Default Lag 12-3-08

Its 9am eastern, and ive been disconnected 4 times in the last 30 min. What the heck is going on? One min i have a 70ms ping, then 10,000+ ping.
I asked in alliance chat if its just me and alot of people are reporting the same thing.
I have a 2.5mb upload so i know it isnt me.
Anyone know why some players get it, and other players dont?
And what is the source of this massive lag spike, its been this way for the last 40 min.

I was having the same problem going from 100ms to 30-50k ms spiking after spike i just surfed the web for a few checked some forums and its has seemed to clear itself up.

Lag was from the East coast. web fine, ventrillo fine, all over internet receiving devices where fine just massive lag spikes one right after another meer seconds apart from each other.

No lag problems here on the east coast.

As always, post where you are geographically so we can see if there's any correlation.

It would suited more if you posted a topic when there is no lag. Still have the same PC since I started to play prop. I had ping 15 back then, yes even in battles, now 300. >.<

Every time one of these threads pop up, I'm feeling increasingly lucky, because I'm not experiencing lag whatsoever. Floating around 200ms.

Geographically, I'm at 51,50' N, 5,52' E.

200ms is lag to most people, so, you don't really know the difference between lag and no lag. if you played around 50ms for a period of time, you would be pissed at 200ms.

That is unless you are a button masher wiki, shock warrior or crit sin and it doesn't matter what speed you have.

Well I'm never under 200. And it's definitely not my connection, other games have a way better ping.

just my two QQ cents.

Okay, good to know. 200 ms isn't a problem for me, PvE-wise. As long as the lag-o-meter isn't flashing orange or red I'm not complaining.

I'm all the time 100-300, which is pretty awful, considering there used to be a time where I had 50ms, 20-30ms when in Polish district.

...Ping at European Team Fortress 2 servers is usually 10-40, 50 is considered BAD. Same goes for CSS or Quake Wars.

Same problem here. Also i have noticed if you minimize the game, and then maximize npc's start to lagg around, crazy!

i've been getting these mini ping spikes for months now. i'm not sure if this is caused by my ISP, or my computer.

don't know about you, but 200ms ping will be godsend for me. i played ranger in top 200 gvg when i had 250ms ping. i cannot for the life of me fathom GW running at anything less than 100ms ping. it just never happened for me.

my biggest gripe is not that the ping is high, but it is INCONSISTENT. my ping can fluctuate anywhere between 97ms to 2000ms+. i can deal with consistent ping around 200-300, because i'll adapt to it. having it suddenly spike up to 2000 every two minutes or so is impossible to adapt to.

Same here. When I started playing GW my ping was 70 ms. And I considered that bad.
Lately is around 300ms if im lucky. This is very bad for a Monk or caster.

I think it's safe to assume that whatever it was, it's better now. If it's a serious issue, ANet will say something about it...eventually.
