Itemwise, best item I ever got was a Req 9 Voltic spear when the VS chest thing was big. Before I started doing it I promised my guild mate jokingly If I got a Req 9 VS I would give it to him because he wanted it for ages. Handed it over as promised now wheres my good karma ;_;

That reminds me.......I've spent over 3mil giving people 15k sets of armor.....wheres my good karma for helping out new people and for nothing.
Sry man, but wow......you are a saint in GW.

When I run around opening locked chests with a 70% chance to retain a pick, but over the course of ten chests, I break 6 or 7 picks, not 3. This sort of thing happens to me so rediculously often that sometimes I would swear it's more than coincidence or bad luck... irritating, very irritating.
On the other hand, GW isn't the only game where I seem to get frequently screwed over in the department of probability; rolling out the results you wouldn't generally expect given percentages, etc...
This even happens to me a lot IRL...
When I earn my "Cursed by Fate" title I think I'm going to leave it displayed at all times. Except of course, when I gain a benefit by switching, like in the Charr Homelands. 'Rebel Yell' is RAWR!

Normally I would say no,- but it feels like it right now:
Thought it might be nice to do a Survivor and I needed a perma as well, so I started one in Cantha.
No worries:
- got help from a guildie with Zen Daijun
- maxed to lvl 20 doing quests in Cantha
- got a run from a guildie to Gunnar's Hold
- started doing Kilroy Stonekin's Punch-Out Extravaganza! with scrolls
- rank 2 Survivor in no time.
Then I had one single lag-spike and it just happened to be at exactly the same time as I had been knocked down (something that happened about once every five runs). Nothing worked (zoning, resigning) - and just like that my Survivor was lost!
I swear, it felt like some guy at A-net had been bored at his monitor and thought to himself: "look: a Survivor,- when he gets knocked down next, I'll lag him! That'll be fun!"

Man, I feel sorry for you, and there's been plenty of people telling these stories (still have to lvl my survivor). I wish Anet will look at d/c status before increasing /death
No, GW doesn't hate me, it loves me because it gave me an Armbrace

Yeah, been playing since near the beginning and I have only got 1 or 2 items dropped that were over 100K, except when they have then devalued down to like 20K-50K, then they drop every once in a while. Also, my pick retention % is nice, but I probably average around 10% retention overall and purples to gold is around 20%-30% gold (level 5 treasure/wisdom and lucky is 3 or 4 (at work so I don't remember exactly). Nothing from zchest worth mentioning and yet guildies use 20 keys and get everlasting or some very nice expensive drop, disgusting, lol

Go farm the catacombs in Presearing... for a few days... you'll get a black dye.

Play in the underworld more than 12 times (without hench).
Look into the UW farm teams and builds.

Rare items are supposed to be Rare. That's why they are called "Rare". If you got gold more often than grapes, something would be wrong.

You want more greens? Pick a green you want. Solo the boss who drops it 20-30 times. A green will drop. Don't do it with hench/heros... they take drops, including greens.
To put it in perspective for you: I went on the skill hunting track and in that time I picked up some 4 greens... from killing damn near every boss in the game.
I've also had at least one green drop for me, but didn't notice because I was wrapped up in the combat. (some bow outside sorrows).
Seriously, these things drop. You just have to play. And if you are playing a lot, you're just not playing in a way that garners these drop items. Which is fine. If you enjoy the way you play, screw the vanity items (and these are all vanity items). If you do want the vanity items, if they are that important to you, and you feel they will make you happy, then you'll have to modify your play patterns to those that garner vanity drops (see suggestions above).

Very much yes for my War (I've done a 3 min solo run for 10+ hours and not gotten a green drop). My other chars are fine.

I don't have anything major to gripe about, but i've had to buy every single 'nice' item i've ever used. I've never gotten a drop that was better than what i'd already bought.
Oh, and my minipets are all crap. Never get the ones I want.

True, almost the same thing happened to me. I've got 44 more skills till legendary, so I might get one more.
got a gold q9 fellblade from a tyrian chest, stoked right? yeah, id'ed it...no inherent mod, and it was 'of pruning' - 19% against plants woop-de-friggin-do
q9 mursaat hammer from z-chest, no inscription slot, no inherent mod! yes, i am not liked by the a-net folks
more recently, 2 vanquishes in a row and only 1 locked chest in all the land...

I wouldn't say GW hates me, it actually might like.
Can't say I've had a whole lot of bad luck, did get plenty of black dye, ecto's, sup vigors etc.
Also, back when I still did green farming, I was extremely lucky with that. Some guildies farmed certain bosses countless times, when I tried, I got the green in 1 or 2 tries :P
Although I've haven't had much luck when it comes to birthday presents...

Over 38 months I have gotten a ton of black dye, a ton of ectos, and a ton of shards. So in that respect, Guild Wars loves me. I still have half a dozen Zhelnun's Longbows that I cannot give away for the life of me. However, Guild Wars has chosen to hate me from time to time. When my (former) guild would do high-end areas, those who forgot / didn't bother to bring keys would open chests for those who had multiple keys, and give them the drop. I once opened a chest for my guild leader, and it dropped a req 8, 15>50 perfect Mursaat Hornbow, which of course I gave to him. All I needed to do was bring a Shiverpeak key and it would have been mine! I think he sold it within the hour for 100k + 30 ectos. This was before Nightfall came out, or right at its debut.

GW has a burning passion for me and the UW.
I've tried the Rt/W build in the uw several times, and i've probably only been able to do maybe 2 complete runs. Damned Aatxes. I also used the permasin, and i've never been able to get a complete run.
