I'd trade this update for more storage. I realize that this must have taken ages to do and the ammount of effort put in would be pretty big but what for? To overshadow other peoples acomplishments? It wasn't impossible to earn titles before and it didn't need to be changed. Personally I feel as if there are so many other issues that could have been worked on instead of this. Congrats to all the PvE'rs that play though, I'm sure you are incredibly psyced about this.

Sadly this is completely not possible as all the books are 'incubator type' items themselves. Or to be more accurate, the incubator is a book item too. They're all variable items able to store up to 18 bits of data, that's far far from being able to store multiple variable items in it.
So the truth is we get another load of new stuff without any way to store them. GG.

Does this not give the Kurzick side a decidedly overwhelming advantage?

agreed, way to cheapen our accomplishments and waste time making the game easier for noobs rather than making the game work better and fix the existing problems that were actually problems. 3x max wisdom title now and 2.5x max treasure hunter..thats..so..completely useless to me

Negative effects on the ecomony? What about negative effects on the community? Not allowing this isn't any different than saying that my monk and assassin with Legendary Guardian don't deserve to get the same rewards as others getting the titles now, which is even a bigger slap in the face since I got it on both before such broken things like consumables and Ursan were added to the game.
And even more consumables are added to the game...
At least newer players will benefit from the great (they are great and the people who worked on them should be proud) changes of Kurz/Luxon, SS/LB titles - all I got was 2 ranks in Treasure Hunter and Wisdom and more slaps in the face for having been a loyal supporter of the game and its campaigns when they were new. Kind of reminds me of the time I bought monk vabbian to be the first to have it and then immediately regretted ever wanting to get something right away...
Edited to add:

Which would have been already in the game if this was thought up when the titles were first added. But now it's pretty much a way to keep money out of the game by hurting people who have already done the work. So the philosophy here is reward people for doing things months, years even after a many of the others have already done them?

As someone who already has many titles maxed - Thank you for the time and effort you've put into this update Anet. So far, on paper, it looks wonderful. Alliance Faction might actually be fun to gather again, and this gives me many more opportunities to hold more diverse events that help more people in my guild in the future.
Love the update Linsey and company, keep up the good work. Also, thank you for getting it done today. I know it takes alot of long hours and difficult work to do this kind of a massive update. My expectations were GREATLY exceeded.

possibly not. I recall back in the day when more people played competitive missions that the Luxons had a huge advantage with their Seige Turtles. This hasn't been the case recently, because there are so few players in Aspenwood that leechers go relatively unnopposed, and almost every game seems to have at least one. If the number of people picks up again, this could be a balance fix. Otherwise, you might be right.

I wholeheartedly agree with the spirit of this update, and greatly appreciated ArenaNet's efforts.
On to the complaining!
Actually, my only complaint is that I seem to have encountered a bug. I have four characters that have completed both Befriending quests, and most of which have beaten at least some of the missions mentioned in the notes. Unless I am gravely mistaken, I should received credit for all of these towards raising my faction caps. After logging in with all characters, my Kurzick cap is still 33,000 and my Luxon cap is still 27,000. If I am not mistaken, that should be more like 50K+ for each faction. Has anyone else run into issues here? Am I just insane? Did I misread the update notes?

I like most of the changes but having to redo every single mission on my almost there Legenday Guardian ? Not a hope in hell's chance.
Also the faction gain was 50% lost due to the losing the other sides faction when trading in. Would have thought a slightly different methodology could have been found to stop this.
What effect on the Economy btw ?

Oh shut up. Anet is trying their best to please every one of us so the least you can say is Thank you Anet for your efforts.
Nothing can be perfect so accept it.

very good update
there are still 2 points that disturb me :
1) they gave us kurzick AND luxon faction at the same time... it's totally free faction, but you have to sacrifice half of what they gave you to use the other half
2) books are not retroactive

I know it has been mentioned... but gaining Kurz and Luxon faction at the same time is concerning... I logged in with 3 chars before I realized... 30k kurz vs 24k lux...
I am afraid if I cash it in now, that they will fix it and I will lose it.
It would also hurt if they don't fix it...
I do like the update... but it hurts a little.

This is all so awesome. Goes to show how much attention the devs pay to fun times. So much here that makes the game worth playing through.
Hugs and kisses for all the goodness.

Then just modify it so that the incubator contains a pointer to another incubator, or whatever. It's not rocket science.

We didn't get any storage with GWEN which had the worst inventory clutter and they just added 10 more books... haha, I find that kind of amazing.

We now need a STORYBOOK CONTAINER, so you can put all in one inventory slot.

I'm really sad about this update. There are some of us who have been playing loyally and thoroughly for years. These books will force me to do all the title work I already did again to be able to do anything with them and thanks for wasting even more already precious inventory slots with non-stackable books.
To top it off, I don't even know if it's worth it because they don't tell you what a full book will be worth and they kept the cap so damn high.
Adding the kurz and luxon faction is nice to retro fit what quests we've done. But stupidly they give them to us at the same time, so when we donate one, the other goes down and makes it pointless.
Ridiculous, too long to wait until gw2 and now to punish those who have been playing all this time is a slap in the face. Add me to the "i'm out of here" group of whiners. Thanks for the pointless update and loss of a huge fanbase.
