I find it interesting how you talk of Anet and that they should allow "adult" names. Yeah, and poop and titz in a name really shows how mature you are.

2 issues.

1. Any name chosen is up to the interpretation of the reader. There is often a fine line between creativity and what can be constituted as offensive.
This issue here is actually not much different to what happened in the article below.

If a child not exposed to any form of bad influence ( Racism, vulgarity, perversion ) is just exposed to these names for the 1st time, would he actually connote anything bad with them ?

The only thing that tells me is this, people need to have their brains or eyes scrubbed with radiator fluid, if they intend to intepret something in an offensive manner.

2. Double standards anyone ? Creative readable names are bannable on the grounds of pervasion, yet dancing around semi-naked by a visual avatar isn't ?

Tells me only one thing. Either Anet peeps 'rocket ships' ( Reference to the article above ) reaction to the reading of certain "words" proves to be a greater catalyst or reactant, in comparision to a visually *debatable image.

Sigh, the world is indeed coming to end, when humans are offended by what is read, and yet, not what is seen. Time we all went blind in our senses.

For some reason, I find so-called 'creative' names among the most uncreative of the lot, right there with all the 'I Wtfpwnjoo's and 'Xyz Naruto Zyx's.

Although I'm not offended or even annoyed by names that are created with the specific intention to titillate, I'm still quite happy with ANet's current policy. Knowing the average maturity of the playerbase, without ANet weeding out stuff as necessary the place would be overrun by players named 'Shiz Cockz Lololol" and variations thereof ...

They can spot an offending name with spaces in between but they didn't find Xxx

edit - I agree with the above poster as well. If my ele can shake her tits everywhere and THAT is ok, then why is a slightly offensive name a bannable offense? Personally, if your a male warrior and your dancing naked I should be able to have you banned because I dont want to see 3 warriors acting out their gay fantasies in a game.

Go try out other mmos where there are no chat filters. I tried this game 2moons (completely sucky grindfest) and they didn't have a chat filter because it was rated M and it was supposed to be a "adult game", but so many players were immature and they were dropping F bombs everywhere and one guild was called the condoms along with a lot of other bad names. Chat filters/Appropriate names are necessary.

But anyway, I dont like the "creative" names anyway. When I see a character named "Wanna hold my Xxx" or "dick slapper" (in RA yesterday), I automatically place the player in the honorary category: probably 12 years old and not worth my time. I dont report, but I dont take them serious either.

All those charas with xxx in names should get forced to rename charas too, if it would go after me XD at least for PvE Characters.
How people name their pvp charas is somewhat of regardless, but the filters for Pve chara names have to become imo much stronger, so that it will be really only possible to create names, that look and sound really like a fantasy name, without any hided insults in the name, countless of xxx's or other retarded crap that doesn't belong into a characters name.
