I know, I've heard it too. Don't worry, those people are far away, locked in their cubics.

Yes, the guild only needs 4 14-day members and the other 4 can be guild memeber that haven't been on for 14 days or guests(if you guest for another guild it doesn't matter how long you've been in your guild). So if you are in a new guild you can always guest for another guild and my guess is there will be plenty of guilds looking for guests so their guild can have enough people to participate.

It's fine to decide not to rework the code. It's not OK to fail to inform everyone of the situation 14 days prior to the start of the event so that they can react to these conditions.
No one even knew about the existence of these ATs until seven days ago. Even if players anticipated the problem and efficiently reorganized their guild membership immediately in response to the announcement, they won't be able to field their preferred 8v8 team for a week. Those that did not won't be able to field that team until three days prior to the event's end.
All of this could have been averted by making the announcement a week earlier and letting everyone know about the 14 day rule then. Foresight is key to good customer service, no?

By the time the Live Team had investigated and found out that it would not be a quick, easy, or uncomplicated fix to remove the ATS requirements for the Snowball ATS, it was already past the 14-day mark. They sincerely apologize for this disappointment.

Apparently there is nothing else to do for Wintersday, except the Snowball ATs. If it wasn't this to complain about it would be something else.

Yeah. What's wrong with it? Real life comes before gaming, I know this. But I don't want Anet to cater to me because of it, it's not their problem I'm busy in real life, so they shouldn't set up their game to cater to me. Just like they shouldn't set it up to cater to you. If you want to game and partake in real life (I hope you rather do the latter), then you gotta come face to face with the unfairness and consequences of it all.
Anet does a pretty good job of catering to those who can only play casually already.

Needs more QQ.
Anet has decided to leave my guild tab blank, make me unable to guest and even join a guild. And now they even stopped responding to my support ticket 3 days ago.
GG Anet, it's nothing but changing a few 14's to 1's or 0's whatever you like, and doing a quick compile and maybe spending a few minutes testing on your internal servers - unless you have designed your code in the worst possible way ever.
The guild requirement of 4 members seems fine though.
Peace

Really, this is just silly. Partcipation in a HOLIDAY themed event where you throw snowballs at other players should not be taken too seriously. Any raging responses are a bit unnecessary.
On the other hand... at the same time, A.net shouldn't have droped the ball on this. This had huge potential to be very popular and a lot of fun. Instead, 90% of the GW player base (ie, those who don't read the forums or the wikis) will probablly not even know about this feature's existance. All previous holiday events and quests were open to everybody (ie, even level 10s could partcipate in most of the holiday quests from the past). Nothing was ever hard or exclusive. It should be open to everybody in the spirit of the season.
And saying it would be too much work for programmers... eh, I'd rather have people do something well or not at all. Half-assing the job by not getting rid of those restrictions (which really, why should they be hard coded into the programming in the first place?) is kinda frustrating and unprofessional.
|
There are huge numbers of other events, including a ton of new stuff this year. That 90% of the GW fanbase that won't even know about the ATS will obviously not care that they're missing it. Furthermore, people who aren't in a stable guild would have basically no shot at this anyway, and if you have no shot at winning you may as well be playing in the random snowball arena. Just because it's a holiday-themed event, there can't be anything competitive about it? One event, one small event that is exactly the same as the casual stuff most players play in (and fail miserably, if the past hour of play time is any indication), and people are complaining that everything about Wintersday should be accessible to everyone.
Put it this way: even if there were absolutely no restrictions on this AT, how many players without a guild would join? How many of those players have friends who are in a guild which they'd be able to guest with? How many of these hodge-podge groups would get past the first round or two?

Since they made it operate like a Monthly AT, that screws so many players over. Due to that many people had left there guilds for the champ weekend earlier. So, this, pretty much puts a lot of plays out of snowball at's.
It was a good idea for the snowball AT's, but, you didnt think it through to the end. Which sucks, becuase so far it seemed that everything you have been doing has been great such as the decorations.
Oh well, another screw up for a once in a year event.

Mesmers have an interrupt, and eles have a second snare. I'm not sure if a full rit team is the best idea.
I'd rofl if a guild pulled off a r-spike-esque thing with one para using the chant to make snowballs near-undodgeable. 3, 2, 1, snowballs to the face.
